Strange story with a lot of details. Well done relaying this excellent piece of propaganda for the Ukrainians.
A good example as to why countries should invest in their own people and develop the skill sets necessary to maintain critical areas.
At Boeing Field in Seattle seems there are often large military aircraft from other countries for modernization. For awhile there lots of AWACS coming through from NATO countries.
It is often not practical to maintain everything yourself- in such circumstances, you have to choose priorities instead.
Unfortunately, money doesn't buy military secrets for how to maintain, repair, or operate aircraft unless a country that already knows all these likes you.
They were in the process of being purchased and equipped by Ukrainians most likely. I feel like calling them neutral aircraft is only true in a technical sense.
Not cost effective for such a small number of aircraft.
Dr. Felton's coverage of a war in real time is amazing. As usual, he covers topics and unearths facts that the mainstream media misses. MiG 29 is a beautiful air craft

Not up to the standards of a block 50+ F-16 but certainly comparable to an earlier block 15/20 which is of course contemporary with the MiG-29.

There is no such thing as a "neutral" combat aircraft in a warring state. One can assume the hosting nation would appropriate any military asset.
True, any serviceable/ potentially serviceable combat aircraft
in a Ukraine facility are legitimate targets.
Came here to comment this. No such thing as neutral in this circumstance. War aircraft at a war aircraft repair facility. All fair game.
This all assumes that the nation that owns the aircraft is too weak to complain. If these were US or any NATO member aircraft it could be considered an act of war, or at the very least requiring an immediate apology and reparations along with the punishment of those involved. For those puzzled by this I suggest you review The Melian Dialogue in Thucydides "The Peleponessian War" where the Athenians explained actual power politics to a recalcitrant small Spartan island colony city-state.
@@brianmccarthy5557
Why would NATO members leave their own air assets
in a vulnerable Ukraine facility?..and if they did surely
logic says they do so at their own peril...Act of War..Really?..LoL.
@@brianmccarthy5557 incorrect. There is plenty of NATO equipment in the Ukraine that has been destroyed already. Same in WW2 with fromntge US to UK "land-leased" military equipment and ships. Any military equipment in a war zone is a letigimate target, regardless who legally owns it.

As you mention, timing is also critical. Russia is obviously not acting on Impulse despite the endless emotional Western narratives. They in fact entered Ukraine initially with no resistance. I've always loved the mean looks of the Mig-29. This aircraft scared the bejeebus out of the West during the Cold War.
