About 200 pages of beautiful imagery from Jarf's digital kits, vintage books (one book is from 1898), and some glorious illustrations from the public domain. This beautiful massive, handmade timepiece is 8x5 inches, features a two-inch, hand-painted decorated spine; my detailed work with "illuminating" and embossing the book covers and its pages; some hidden journaling spots; a trove of journaling tags/cards; dusty, metallic rose trim embellished pages, sweet whispers of metallic gold throughout; and a smattering of glass beads and magnetic closures- All for the lovely Sue Cook, from Paper Inspirations, to enjoy. Awww, thank you my dear Sue!! I'm happy that you love it!! I watched your video and noticed that there was some damage to the third signature with the magnetic clasp. Not certain if the damage occurred when customs had it with them for so long but I'll be sending you some mail soon with some pieces to fix that magnetic flip. “This book is ready to explode.” Explode with techniques TNTC. I’d never heard the term “ghost” before, but I see what you mean. Those details are again TNTC (ghosting in the back page waterfall and a Wendy-style flip out, for example). I actually felt like my brain and heart were going to simultaneously explode. Because beautiful things make me emotional, and every single thing was breathtakingly beautiful. I’m going to watch this video again to better see ALL the details. Awww!! Your words are incredibly sweeter than the dash of honey I put into my Earl Grey!!!! I doubt anything you create would be labeled as elementary!! Seriously!! I think you’re a perfectionist like me and in no way do I ever think my “completed” journals are masterful because I know I could have crafted it better. It’s so about learning to know when to let go. Otherwise, I’ll never complete a project. Like right now. I’m currently working on 2 books and for one of them I’m still not happy with the cover so I’m back at the drawing board, literally. Hopefully mid November I can feature one of the books. If I can ever learn to let go!!! 😔😔😍🥰
I adore your giggle and sense of humor. I am working on Jarf's Owl set and your journal is a great inspiration for my journal. So many ideas. illuminating and embossing? looks so beautiful how is it done?
Marlene, please forgive me. So the faux embossing on the front cover: I used antique gold metallic paint (with a very fine tipped brush or a detailed brush) that I painted over Jarf’s filigree pattern on the book cover. I did two coats. Took about 4-5 hours mainly because I didn’t have the proper paint brushes. I do now but not back then when I made this journal for Sue. After the paint dried, I carefully went over the pattern three times with glossy accents which gave the “embossed” effect. Hence the faux illumination (2 coats of metallic paints) and faux emboss (3 applications) of glossy accents. I hope I explained my process that’s understandable. If I have more time, I’ll try to do a “quick” tutorial. I hope this helps and please forgive my tardy reply!! 😇😇🥰🥰😍😍
