  • They say the best camera for the job is the one you have with you, often times this is true of lighting and a Speedlight is a light you should always have with you.
Join Daniel Norton OnSet as he shows you just how versatile that small flash can be.
If given the choice in some situations, we'd rather have "big flash" but that doesn't mean that a Speedlight cannot be used for a huge range of applications.
We will create several photos during this live shooting demo and Daniel will show tips and tricks to get the most out of that small flash you have in your bag.

Great presentation Daniel Norton! Yes, Speedlights are compact and full of power and as you mentioned its all about learning the effect light has when is reflected or filtered. Thanks ADORAMA for having great professionals like Daniel Norton on your channel showing how to make the best use of most of the gear available at your great store!

Great shots, thank you very much. Cool model, too - but that makeup guy is also doing an awesome job, me thinks. Thumbs Up

I like how you mentioned rectangular softboxes offer more edge control. I only have octaboxes but could use flags on it to provide edge control.

At 42:40 Daniel says you are still spending the same power out of the flash with NDs, but I humbly think that's not correct. With NDs you fire your flash at whatever f stop you are shooting, while with HSS your flash is firing multiple times at that f stop to fill the frame. Batteries and flash life will last longer with NDs, but HSS is more convenient and faster to setup up.

very nice tuto. However it is in your studio where you can use whatever softbox you need as well as off-camera.
very often i am asked to take pictures at a dinner,... and so i take my z6ii, Z 35mm F/1.8 or 24-70 F/2.8, a godox V1 with magmod maggrid and magsphere and shoot people.
Not obvious in TTL to have right light on the face. several faces are too much lighten,... so I am interested to see which bracket, softbox,... you would use and if we can compensate in lightroom or C1 a direct flash in face if power is acceptable,... I have already seen a photographer with two V1, one on camera and another in his hand driven by IR (master slave) and he makes nice photos during parties,...
