- Currently on holiday in Norfolk. In this video you see an English Rose Garden situated very near to us. Also a visit to Peter Beales Rose headquarters. I will re-attend their later in the week when weather is better and make sure I capture the actual rose gardens looking in their finest fettle.

Oh my. So many stunning roses and how kind of you to leave that gorgeous rose as a gift to those people who have created such a fabulous garden. Look forward to your next video with the tour of the Peter Beale rose gardens. ❤
Thank you Kyla yes I will try and get it on way home :)
Lovely episode! Such a gentleman to leave such a wonderful gift.🌸🌸🌸
After so many smiles created over the years maybe time to reverse things for that snap moment.
What a lovely thing to do, that rose is gorgeous I'm sure they will be thrilled with it, what a lovely rose haven they have created there and you are right I bet they have put many a smile on passers by faces over the years, the roses are out everywhere at the moment and it really does fill your heart. I hope your next visit later is better weather for you, enjoy the rest of your holiday.
Thanks soulgirl all credit to the owners :)
That garden is heavenly gorgeous. Thank you!
Thank you :)
I think this is my favourite video of yours that I have seen so far. It’s joyful in how passionate you are about roses and I like that you appreciate other people’s hard work and artistry in rose growing, not many vloggers do that. That Norfolk garden is a postcard. Thanks for sharing! ❤🌹
Bless you and thank you very much. Such lovely words. This was one of my favourite videos to make I think. A fabulous day and find memories of it. I was against the clock I remember that and the weather turned. But still a fab day. Thanks for dropping by 🌹🌹🌹
What a lovely choice and gift! Bravo!
Thanks dolly
Such a lovely surprise! Pearl of st. Luke’s is quite new variety and it’s my first time see the flower in video-it’s glowing! Thank you very much for sharing and have a nice vacation.
Thanks hina. Pearl of St Luke’s I knew nothing of. Just one of them garden centre visits I know you know all about :)
They will be over the moon with that stunning rose. Really enjoyed watching, can't wait to see the rose gardens at Peter Beales.
Hi Caroline thank you. yes I will try and get it tomorrow :)
The Holiday Cottage and the Cottage Rose Garden are beautiful 😊
They are indeed, all credit to the owners of course. :)
Never cease to amaze me. Splendid!
After so many years and so many dead heading and so many smiles I’ve zero doubt they deserved it. Thanks Sherlock :)
Love 'The Anniversary'!
Great rose
Beautiful rose....wonderful gift
Thank you
Amazing rose flower and beautiful garden
Thank you
Oh , how nice of you to gift a rose 🌹😊
They deserve it in my book :)
What a beautiful property with rose garden. It is really amazing to know how little space required for roses to grow. Thanks mate it’s lovely treat to eyes.
Thanks Rakesh all credit to the owners and of course the roses :)
What a great ending to a video - nice one!
We can only imagine the work he put into that garden over such a long time.
Wow! That first rose at the nursery called “Gorgeous” is a showstopper! Wish we could get it here in America. I don’t think anyone could pass that up without investigating, smelling and buying it. It literally looks like a Lisa Frank painting of rainbows and unicorns. Lol
That rose was lovely I did film it later in the day but audio was corrupted.
for me it's extremely beautiful, i tried to search the web immediately but got little info even from peter beale's website. could you talk about 'that' rose sometime in the future in your video if you know more about it. no pressure, thanks 😄.
WOW, repeaT flowerng rambler with fragrance, never heard of that one, great find. 👍👏 Ive two Edens, a two yr old and a three yr old. PAINFULLY slow to establish, about three canes and half a dozen blooms between them at the moment , but Ive got patience, Ive seen them when they get going ❤️
BTW youre starting to sound like Brucie 😊. “ you’re my favourite “ 😂
Haha every single word you say there is bang on the money with me aswell. (Except the brucie bit at the end which I don’t understand):)
Yes they say it’s continually flowering rambler. Wow right there. Rural England they say it has no to light fragrance. Well I’ve been back to it maybe 4 times now on different days and each time I’m hit with musk fragrance. And strong!!!! What can I say. Next week it might be different of course but that’s what I’m getting. I’ll ask the owner what are her thoughts on fragrance but I know it’s her favourite. Soulgirl says her young rose it’s light perfume fragrance so much if it must come down to us I guess. But what a rose. :)
@@Jay_Jay Bruce Forsyth on Strictly Come Dancing, his catchphrase was “you’re my favourite”; but he liked them all and hardly ever had a bad word to say. Grew up watching him on the London Palladium 🤩
Haha very funny, of course you can be best man but only if you supply the roses as well, what a beautiful surprise she will have when she opens the door and a very lovely rose too.
😊
Will be a pleasure :) my speech is already done, ready when you are :)
Lovely video, Jay Jay. What a nice gesture. 😊
Thank you! 😃
Wow 🤩 rose heaven
Even though I live in the city, there are deer who flock around a wide open field nearby, and it’s always a shock at night driving by when the headlights catch these gleaming golden eyes in the dark haha
In the U.K. a very rare sight to see them in the wild like this. Especially in your front garden :)
What a lovely rose u bought . And such a kind gesture. I hope you get to film on the way home. Safe journey
Hi Davena sadly we won’t be stopping at Peter beales on way home. The mum in law has dementia and is having a bad day. Truth be told she’s had a bad week. The few hours that I managed to get to myself are captured as best I could in this video. Will have to wait for another time ;) cheers Davena
@@Jay_Jay awww I hope she's OK.
I love the deer
The rose you choose was lovely
Thanks Linda :) 🌹🌹
You did good managing to walk away with 1 rose only 😃
Thanks naffy but I gotta go back, I’m only half way home :)
awww this was very sweet
Thank you
Another great video and lovely gesture 👌🌹
2k subs days away
It literally makes zero difference to me mate. But thanks gav
It is so delightful the way you fell in love with St. Luke's Pearl rose ☺
Hi yes thankfully some got to see my brain working . So annoying I lost much of my audio but hope to go back this week.
You are precious....
Thank you Debbie
What a beautiful garden with all those stunning roses and the owners were so kind to let you film for us. They will be thrilled with the one that you bought them. I'd have been in my element at Peter Beales. I keep meaning to go to David Austin's in Shropshire which is nearer to me but I know that it'll be an expensive trip as I wouldn't come away empty handed. Enjoy the rest of your holiday and I hope the weather perks up for you. By the way your cottage looks amazing.
Thanks Wendy, Yes the owners were very kind I played it by ear initially having a couple of passing visits, but early on I could tell she wouldn’t at all mind. One of the few people who could chat more than me and of course that was always key. Yes so annoying about the rain it’s been fantastic weather for ages but I will be going back this week. David Austin rose garden is fabulous I recommend stopping at most half way through for a coffee and cake. :) best of luck
I know exactly what you mean by expensive trip. Even a trip to the Dobbies nearby is expensive for me hence I try avoid it😂😂
Oh I can't wait to see this ! We were supposed to be there today and tomorrow but our plans were scuppered last week so had to put it off for now 😭 Right, I'm going to watch it now.
Boo we could have met you there. I’m going back later in the week hopefully the weather will be better.
I hope your having fun on holiday mate, and I can why you fell in love with that rose, and cool video :D
Thanks Jason
Gorgeous! Wish my iceberg looked like that! Mine is being binned I'm afraid. Riddled with black spot
Yes I did have one and also binned it. The blackspot and lack of fragrance but still a great rose when it comes to its flowering. Alone like that or climbing back of border away from other roses a good spot I think. :)
@Jay_Jay the roses are stunning and flowers so we'll just such a shame about the disease resistance. My new belvedere is doing amazing this year! So far no blackspot 🤞
I got pure poetry this year after a few recommended it to me and what a rose with a fragrance to match. You need to get that one, its absolutely stunning 😊
Hi there, I saw that one and yes it is a splendid rose no question. I spent some time next to it. Hopefully I will film that tomorrow
@@Jay_Jay I will look forward to that video 😊
Beautiful!
An amputation? Oh dear. What a lovely garden space!
Yes an amputation very sadly so. But a lovely garden indeed
Good to see Schneewittchen (Iceberg), Rural England is fantastic, must be growing there for long time to get that form. Good choice Jay Jay but my eyes were on The Anniversary rose from Meilland.😍
That anniversary rose nearly came home with me. Absolutely divine and for me a close second on the day.
@@Jay_Jay I‘m sure you touched their hearts, I wish you a lovely vacation with your beautiful wife!🌹
Your not going to believe this but someone has just pointed out to me that the famous fabulous fantastic rose, line renaud that you have in your garden, a rose I have been wishing to get for some time is also known as the anniversary rose!!! How about that! And funnier than that is I ordered the anniversary rose last night! :)
@@Jay_Jay 🤣😆I was‘nt able to recognise it but my eyes were glued to that rose ( Line Renaud aka Elbflorenz). Cheers to that for getting it, you will not regret to have that in your collection, incredible strong sweet scent of 🍋 🍋 that will linger in your garden.🌹
Thanks for this, I loved it. Here in NZ I’m planning roses for summer, sadly a few months away.
Can you please give a link to the London Potager/Hungarian gardener… keep up your rose vlogs. I look forward to them.
Hi there. “Hungarian cottage adventure” is her name on CZcams. Best of luck in the southern hemisphere, your summer will be coming soon :)
❤
Yes @Jay_Jay Rural England has a fragrance it's a light rose perfume to me, very nice, subtle. I had it on my wish list for a while I was lucky to get it for my birthday in December last year and it's romping away already.
That’s the strangest thing isn’t it. To me yesterday that was somehwere between medium and strong nothing NOTHING less than that. And I got musk. And I do like musk so you can see why I liked it so much. The futures bright with yours I think;)
Beautiful garden and home , if you carry on like this, in many years time you will surely be allowed into Heaven 😂🍻🍀
Thank you :)
The Iceberg rose you filmed is probably called Climbing Iceberg, I have it too. It is prone to black spot, you must have noticed the obvious signs. I hope you're having a great time, I remember a really good book by Graham Swift set in Norfolk. I'm so jealous of the rain! PS. I'm going on a tour of gardens in the south of England soon, I'm so excited! I'm also going to visit a really big rose garden in Austria, in August.
Hi English, the iceberg I think can be grown as a climber or a shrub I was of the impression it’s the same rose dependent on how you prune it, but I may well be wrong on this. I did have iceberg for 2 or possibly 3 summers it was one of the first roses I purchased and yes mine did suffer with black spot terribly. Let me know when your gonna be in the south of england, hit me up on insta. Norfolk is lovely :) thanks English.
@@Jay_Jay According to "my sources" Iceberg is from 1958 (Kordes), Climbing Iceberg is ten years younger (Cants of Colchester, 1968). Sorry about my pedantry, I hope you understand my compulsion to correct everyone, it's an occupational hazard, I suppose ;-) I'll let you know when I'm in England :-)
@@Jay_Jay there are two icebergs and the climbing version is actually english. kordes iceberg is a much healthier rose tho:)
@@englishwithaneruditehaha I am more than happy to be educated on such matters. We learn and that’s the important thing. :)
Incidently I would love to know the back story on the iceberg kordes and the cants roses version. I can’t help but think opportunity and good fortune played it’s part with the younger rose. But again I may be wrong :)
❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you
I now want Rural England.
Your not alone on that front. With my nose to it, it was divine. Everything you’d want from a rose
Your not alone on that front. With my nose to it, it was divine. Everything you’d want from a rose
the anniversary rose is “Line Renaud ” from meilland
Yes mate I found this out after my visit here. Also known as Dee-lish in America and sweet parfume de Provence here.
(I have since bought this rose)
Seems good roses always have multiple names, I think because they are successful and sold in different countries and thus renamed by different distributers @Jay_Jay (but it seems that david austin roses usually don't have this issue😆despite that they are also sold around the world)@@Jay_Jay
What is the pink rose name @7:51 ?
Just a small tip for you, next time you have to take video in the rain, use a cling film and just expose the camera part. Hope you have a great holiday and cant wait to see what roses you are getting!!
I’m sorry I don’t know that rose. The lady said it might be cliff Richard but wasn’t sure other than she knows that rose is somehwere along that front but there were a few there. The cling film a good idea but as you can see from the attire I was wearing I wasn’t expecting torrential rain :) 😂😂 thank you
do you remember how they priced the Eden rose?
I don’t recall I guesstimate it was 30 pounds including delivery
Just wondering, here in the states, what on earth these roses are sourced from...can you help us Jay?
Hi Jay, what is your favourite single or double petal variety of rose? I'm weighing up my first rose purchase!
Hi there single I’m not too familiar with but I know allisar princess of Phoenicia is really unusual but in a nice way. It handles high heat and sunlight for me. Colourful and for such a small petal count flowers last well and very much in abundance. A slight clove fragrance for me. For your eyes only I’ve seen many times and always seems to get good reviews in terms of flowering fragrance and health. Take a look. But I’d suggest go to a decent garden centre and see for yourself, pick your favourite on the day for you. Best of luck. :)
What roses are they called 7:52 ?
Looks like Muntjac deer
You could well be right I’m not familiar at all with deer. Not that big I know that. :) thank you
