    Portion control containers are really good for those like me who can easily overeat. In fact, learning portion control has helped me find food freedom. I'm still able to eat foods I enjoy without going overboard.

      it's actually nice even outside of weight losing perspective, bc my belly hurts sometimes when i buy chips and... a whole bag becomes empty before i realise it... but i still want them sometimes

      @@kiairiaareiria7712 exactly! I find pouring something addictive like that in a bowl and separating that portion from the bag helps. I'm still satisfying a craving while not going overboard. I have digestive problems out the wazoo and have to make sure I'm not going overboard. This is the only part of the video I don't agree with. I stand by portion control!

    I used to be the obese category, I know we try not to focus on weight here, but I originally calorie counted to lose weight and take control of my binge eating disorder. I lost 5 stone (70 lbs i think?), but after maintaining for two years by bingeing on the weekends and restricting during the week, with the help of your videos I'm finally getting to a place where I can intuitively eat all week long and listen to my body so I can remain healthy but also listen to watch my body needs. Its taken a while to get here.

      Yeah I genuinely don't understand how people do that. I'm already fighting for my life whenever I have to spread cold butter and then bite on a slightly thicker piece 😭 It's just so disgusting 😭 I heard American butter usually has a higher water amount than European butter, so maybe it's not as bad but it still makes me upset lmao

    Calorie couting is what helped me lose weight. I ate everything in moderation or found lower calorie alternatives for my favorite calorie dense foods. I lost weight pretty much by mostly eating sandwiches, salads, and soups.

      Precisely. The spirit of each diet has value and the beneficial aspects can all be incorporated into healthy eating habits. Some people do benefit from measuring and having portions of food because they can't envision a "portion" without a physical or visual aid, and there's nothing wrong with that. It can help someone learn how to eat intuitively. Most of these are just learning how to use tools to make better informed choices.

    Intermittent fasting actually helps me to control myself around food and figure out when I'm actually hungry. I used to binge eat and CONSTANTLY think about food, but yesterday I didn't think about food until I was actually hungry and I stopped when I was full!

      I dont think she fully is against every single one. I think she's pointing out on the toxic diet culture side where people get so attached to these:
      Portion control: feeling like you shouldnt eat more than the measurement
      Low carb: Labeling carbs as "bad" food
      Intermediate fasting: Getting hingry at times but wont eat because its not within your eating window
      MLM: programs that tell you ONLY eat the recommended and see fast results, usually involving shakes, salads, and pills or vety low calorie deficit (most programs do that)

      You got this! It'll take some time to figure out what works for you and binging is especially hard since not a lot of people consider it a real problem, but I believe in you from someone also working on their relationship with food :)

    This is a bit insensitive to those with actual food addictions and need steady guidance. I tried intuitively eating and ended up gaining so much weight. The only thing that’s helped me is IF and calorie counting. Some of these “rules” are needed and actually life saving to those with no self-control.

    As somebody with a dad who is keto. Nobody eats butter by itself. Makes no sense, better sources of keto foods are eggs or meats, and things that we actually like.

    I have a good use for the meal replacement powder. If you're food insecure and you somehow end up with the stuff or just aren't getting enough daily nutrients, mixing it with oatmeal and milk is a good way to make it more filling and satisfying.

    I eat NOTHING all day- a Monster, at most, then full binge session starts as soon as everyone is tucked and chores are done ✅
    I’ve become so bloated, pitting edema, kidneys are failing… it’s just awful. Oh, I’m also diabetic (In remission). Everything I eat is artificial. Or too much protein… I suck at this.

      @@dontfit6380 I don’t eat “high carbs” I eat fake sugar, and processed garbage. I’ve just recently stopped that. As much as I can avoid it anyway. My energy drinks are sugar free, all of my snacks are sugar free, it’s the binging at night. It’s the fact I only eat once a day, late at night. Doesn’t matter if it’s broccoli- I don’t need SO MUCH of it, & not to eat at midnight. It’s horrible for my system.

    I need to start calorie counting again. But only because I use the initial burst of enthusiasm for the diet to help myself recognize the difference between "I'm not full/overfull" and "I'm hungry". That initial period of restriction helped me learn my actual hunger cues, and how to recognize what I'm actually wanting. I started boredom eating and "can't throw these leftovers out" overeating during the pandemic, and now I'm 30lbs over the weight I feel the best at (most energy, least pain, stuff like that). I just need to give myself that push to start actually wanting to take care of myself again, so I can relieve some of my knee and ankle pain.

    The pronlem.with intuitive eating ist that I learned very early in life to eat whatever I can bc I didn't know when my next meal was coming. Today my stomach litterally hurts as if I'm starving, eventhough I just ate and drunk. And all the logicall reasoning or clear goals go through the window when I'm in pain bc my body can't get rid of that physicall hurt, especially when I'm stressed.

    I was raised on scheduled eating times and was forced to clean my plate. Thankfully I didn’t become obese. I’m raising my child to go with how he feels. We don’t do scheduled eating times. When he’s hungry - I feed him. If he doesn’t finish his food that’s perfectly okay. He says “mama I didn’t finish my food but my belly feels full” and that’s awesome to me. No one should be forced to eat at times they aren’t hungry or gorge themselves just to have a clean plate.

    This was so good 😂😂I busted out laughing at the “clean eating” with Clorox!!! Definitely see some strange things….like people “washing” their chicken with DISH SOAP 😮I don’t eat at other peoples houses often lmao. I spoke with my Biochemistry professor about this, & he said the same thing you do - Try your best & just try to get all the food groups during the day. Ensure you have activity, & the rest of the habits will follow. Woke up this morning & was craving strawberries, not sugary cereal! 😊

    To be fair I think macros counting is very normal and realistic, especially for people who have fitness goals. You’re not gonna gain muscle if you don’t hit a protein goal.

    I’ve done all of these diets and more (cabbage soup diet, anyone?😂) and she’s absolutely right: intuitive eating is the only reasonable, sustainable way to eat. It’s definitely not easy if you’re coming from diet culture, but it’s absolutely life changing if you stick with it! It took me about two years to fully be able to say I’m an intuitive eater and I’ll never go back to dieting again. It’s honestly so freeing to truly be able to trust your body, and this is coming from a 40 year old who had been dieting since the age of 10!

    I portion and clean eat about 70% of the time. I don't restrict snacks, tho and I incorporate intuitive eating. I lost 6lbs over a few weeks without even noticing it.

    Only reason ive ever tried "intermittent fasting" is bc i desperately need to fix my schedule. It was less about "no eating at these times" and more that I was waking up at 2am hungry, and realizing i forgot dinner is exhausting. Like, im enough of a disaster everywhere else, i need to make sure i remember to make food at all, yk?

    Nothing wrong with choosing low calorie cereal so that you can have French fries with lunch. Or eating a bell pepper sandwich so you can feel better about having a cookie after dinner. But Lysol on a lettuce leaf is unforgivable.

    I don’t know what the solution is but I know I can’t just keep mindlessly eating whenever and whatever I want. I’m extremely unhealthy and my quality of life is low. Obsessive dieting is wrong but so is what I’m doing. You have to use SOME kind of system to help yourself.

      Yeah the system is called listening to your body what it needs. If you're craving crackers, you probably Need more carbs. If you're craving fast food, you probably need more salt or sugar. If you're craving more food in general then you need to have stuff that is filling for a long time

      @@mariscostumes3815but how do you figure that out without out over eating though. Because it used to happen to me. I craved a lot of carbs but it was making my PCOS flare up a lot.

      @@SiesVE with PCOS and such it's hard with a disease that messes with your body, I know that's sorta what happened when I developed diabetes and I went to a dietician to help me keep my normal schedule of eating whatever my body craves, id talk to your doctors and a dietician about it as that stuff can mess with your body.

    I have those shakes as workday breakfast though. It helps me get in some calories and stay full until I am ready to eat lunch. I just can't do breakfast at 6 am 😄

    I literally hate all these diet versions. So with my husband we both have restrictive diets. Both celiacs plus my hubby is a one type diabetic. I used to have a BED in my teenage years as well and honestly I am still struggling with finding a way to be happy with myself and not binge. I gained a lot of weight because of stress and because of health issues and now trying to lose it. Slowly and healthily. What we do is eat with balance, non restricting but watching the portions and staying in a good calorie range. Plus we try to move every single day - whether it's on a bike, walking, working in the garden or around the house. And the weight is going down on its own. 😊 since last year I am down 45 pounds and couldn’t be happier.
