  • For the 9th item on my fitness bucket list.... 30 Days of crossfit. Thank you athletic greens for sponsoring this video athleticgreens....
    Why?! Realizing it was time to refocus on my form, if I want to improve sports performance. For 30 days I worked my way to learning (or re-learning at times) all the foundational moves of crossfit & weightlifting. I documented my entire journey, documenting how my body changed, the before & after, but not a focus on the physical aspects, but my confidence in the gym and perfomance under the barbell. Many ups and downs, hope you enjoy my journey

    My husband was a competitive crossfitter. He was extremely strong and had amazing form. 300 lb Snatch and all! But now retiring, his body is now dealing with repercussions of having so many years of training and competing. What I have learned is that Crossfit cab be addictive (in a good way at times) but there is a fine line between that over doing it. My recommendation to anyone starting make it a 2x a week cadence for optimal recovery. Anywho, PROUD of you Keltie! (get it boo)

    hi Keltie! I'm a crossfit athlete and a lot of times people don't understand what it actually takes to be able to perform your best in the sport. People would judge me for preferring sleep over nights out or bringing my own food instead of buying lunch somewhere, and often times people have this idea of crossfit being a cult of some sort that rules your whole life, so I wanted to thank you for trying and even though it didn't went how you thought it would, you didn't blame the sport, but rather the way you were living outside the workouts. That's one of the most important things people need to realise instead of blaming the sport right away. Thank you so much for this video and for showing that crossfit is not what people think it is ❣️

    I’ve done Crossfit for about 2 years now. I started during the Covid shutdown and it became such a stress reliever and a great outlet for me to go to. I fell in love with the movements, but especially the community it brings you. Crossfit is not an alone activity, you need people around you to motivate you, and to also not feel alone as everyone else is exhausted and pouring sweat too. I love Crossfit and I loved this video. I hope you continue to improve in this great sport.

Several of them have grandchildren! They're such an inspiration to me to keep pushing myself and stay active. It's not a form of exercise for everyone, but if you like it, it's a great all around workout.

    I've been a CrossFitter for 5 years. I cannot tell you how refreshing it is to see a positive CF CZcams review video. I'm so exhausted by the fitness creators I follow trying CF for one day and giving their opinion. It's too complex to review in one day.
    Our gym was of the many that unaffiliated after Greg Glassman's (CEO at the time) awful comments. The only thing that changed is the name of our gym. We no longer pay the annual fee to use the CrossFit name. Everything else has remained the same.
    I'm so thankful your video includes things like: the time it takes to learn new movements, introductory courses, proper nutrition and recovery. These are all so important for the average everyday fitness enthusiast. It's not just for the top 0.001% that makes it to the CrossFit Games.
    We've had a lot of promising people come through our doors but quit so soon because we don't throw them into group classes. Because they've worked out before they are discouraged that they can't come in and smoke everyone in the workouts. The ego of it gets to most people. You have to be okay with being a beginner again.
    We have members ranging from ages 14 - 60's. The workout is what you make it. We have people who are huge on CrossFit and work intensely so they can compete at local competition, people who come in to supplement their passion of running and those who come in just to get a good sweat in. The classes are as intense as YOU want to make them. I love it because I don't want to go to a 24 hour gym and come up with my own schedule. I want to show up and be told what to do and how to fix my form, intensity, etc. I've always said "Everyone can do CrossFit. But CrossFit isn't for everyone." (and that's totally okay).

    • @lyaham
      @lyaham Před 2 lety +4

      @Bolu, i love Keltie but I think this video is giving an extreme view of CrossFit. I have been doing CF for 4.5 years. You really don’t need to wait until life is less hectic. Doing CrossFit every day of the week is insane (and not suggested unless you are training to compete in the CF Games!). If you aim to do 4-5 days per week and scale your workout to how your body is feeling that day, you can absolutely include it in your current life. Yes, if you’re challenging yourself, you will be a little sore most days but it’s so worth it for the physical development and community that you get to experience. I highly recommend going for it now!

      Do not settle for a bad crossfit gym. Take your time to find a good one. The lower tier ones are just a ticket to injury. The head honcho of a crossfit gym should have additional qualifications more than just the crossfit certification and there should be one-on-one teaching before you start group sessions.

    • @fatbodydoes
      @fatbodydoes Před 2 lety +1

      It really depends on the gym. A good gym will encourage scaling and ease you into CrossFit. They will make sure you can do the movements safely and sustainably. I started CrossFit with bad knees and a messed up shoulder and back and my gym let me just come on upper body days at the start while I worked with my PT for my knees. When I began, I had to scale everything, but as I progressed could do more and more things. My gym focuses on the long road. Pushing you out of your comfort zone, but not past the point of injury or over-training. As she said, CrossFit is a brand and every gym has a different culture and quality, but I love CrossFit so much, so I hope you give it a try!

Think back to the time when you overloaded yourself with work doing multiple challenges with no end and where that lead you. Think about quarantine and the lessons you learned regarding keeping your mind happy and taking the time to breathe when you need it. I hate to break it to you but this isn't a "fitness" channel, it's a WELLNESS channel!!! • @elusivebutsatisfyingt.9166

    One thing all games athletes keep telling us is that recovery is their whole life. They schedule their life *around* recovery. Many of them use the whoop straps to monitor their day strain+recovery quality, use special mattresses, blankets, ice tubs, saunas, etc. Your recovery is almost more important than your training because if you don't make it a priority you can't train effectively! People really always underestimate that.

    Regarding your air travels and the associated inconveniences: I can highly recommend to focus on one specific airline and join their frequent flyer program. You quickly will be able to discount or upgrade travelling in business class. Or simply book business class, at least in the beginning ;-) Aboard, enjoy the flat bed for proper sleep, or involve the flat bed into your sleeping schedule. Have decent meal options, or even have individual meals (whatever and whenever you want/need it, just pre-order it and they will service you). In this wise you easily exchange squandered time into a chain link, into livability.

    Very timely video, and I can relate. With aging it becomes so readily apparent, that we really need to focus on all the things that affect our performance in athletic endeavors outside of the gym. I have been so discouraged lately that I just don't bounce back like I used to, only to realize that I need to pay attention to all of the habits that are mentioned in this video. New Year's resolution season is right around the corner, it makes a whole lot of sense to start working on these habits away from the gym, so you can be prepared for any athletic resolution you may have for the new year, in order to avoid hitting the wall by mid-January. Well Done!

The same friends who raved about it 3 years ago have all quit going to the gym entirely. I think our bodies tell us when enough is enough sometimes. Slow(er) and steady is better for your central nervous system too.

Then there was the accusations of the really bad sexist stuff and the racist comment. The entire CrossFit community basically dropped him, started dropping the name, athletes dropped out of the games etc. He owned the whole company so he couldn’t just step down, but then he saw sense and sold it to Eric Roza the new CEO who is awesome!! He’s made lots of great changes and basically everyone is affiliated under CrossFit again. 🙌🏻☀️

    As a person who has been doing crossfit since 2017 and also Olympic Weightlifting I want all the ladies to know how important it is to strength train! It helps your bones become stronger since as we age our estrogen decreases and are chance of developing osteoporosis goes up!! I also should say, you won’t learn how to properly do these movements overnight, it takes time, effort and a will to want it. I have a lot of CrossFit videos on my channel, and I love it and I hope to compete in a Oly competition this next year!! ❤️

      @@sydneywerner7554 so you technically “strength train” every day in the workouts. In crossfit you’re not going for aesthetics (how you look) but rather what you can do. All the movements are technically strength training but not in a “bodybuilding” way. Olympic Weightlifting is a whole different ball game too, it’s more technical than anything and requires a lot of work and dedication! Hope this helps! Keltie!!!!!!!!! I can't believe how so often your experience mirrors my own in some way, it's really weird. I told you a number of weeks ago I had made a true plan and was sticking to it...... follow 3 days later I incurred a reoccurring injury to my lower back that makes even walking a struggle. I often can recover in around 5 days if I take mindful rest for 3 days and then just focus on mild stretching for couple of days, buuuuuuuutttttt.......... I took the second job as a bar tender and mu injury happened 2 hours before a shift, I went to that shift and literally screamed my way through it and the next day and then back to my day job. It took literally weeks for me to fully recover and that happened yesterday, I haven't worked out or stretched or barely slept in that time though pain. Wednesday I quit my second job, it had evolved from and Saturday to covering Fridays, Sundays, Thursday, did I need the money, kinda yeah but my health and body was literally failing me and I could not get a balance, I has a couple of hours a day to get shit done, house work, eating, loving on my dog, relaxing, working out. All because I had set no boundaries. I've taken my time back this week and tomorrow the plan starts a new. I have a goal and its set in stone. To feel comfortable in a bikini for my holiday to Greece in June. I could literally see the tension in your shoulders at points in this video when you were talking to camera. I did see the video that pushed you to relearn movements and I did feel it was a little harsh as he had not taken the time to know your journey with mobility etc but I am pleased it motivated you rather than hurt you. You are my absolute inspiration everyday and although we are so different in our make ups and I'm 41 years young you are a fitness role model we can all aspire to be. You learn from your body and your misjudgements of what is possible. We are all fallible, we never get it right all the time and sharing that and showing your work as it were so as to help others is a true gift to us. We love and appreciate your total truth and trust in us to get you. You're the best Keltie ❤

    This resonated with me pretty hecticly. I'm not a crossfitter but I do a lot of mixed training including boxing, weight training, HIIT, cycling and running and being a critical care flight medic in the middle east with lots of dragging people off of sand dunes my body is usually operating at a pretty high level of exertion with very little sleep as I do 14hr shifts and wake up 2am for work. Its hard to tell the difference btwn not wanting to and not being able to train and being able to identify reasons for demotivation....and mostly its a lack of adequate recovery and sleep. Its so easy to get to that point where you're doing worse for your body when you train and so easy to get to that stage of feeling like your body is failing you without even seeing you're on that path. Thanks for this video.....a bit of a wake up call❤

There's a lot of gyms that are smaller and you get one on one coaching regardless so the foundations can be carried out during class time. Now if a coach is pushing you to do more than your comfortable with, stand up for yourself and maybe don't go to that coach anymore. But pushing you is part of their job! They're just not good at the other part which is knowing people's limits lol but CrossFit IS GREAT especially when you find the right gym!

      No I don’t do IF in the traditional sense. I’ve always just not eaten for first few hours, so do “fast” in the morning. But have no set fasting schedule m (like 16:8 etc). What I mean more so is normally digestion is better fkr most people when you eat at the same time everyday (ex: 8am breakfast, 1pm lunch,7pm dinner, around those time everyday). When you travel overseas it throws off your hunger & digestion a ton, because when you were eating breakfast now was 11pm before. So you have to work on realigning your circadian rhythm. So your internal clock matches the time zone you are in ☺️
