he ment they had more commercial potential, but he is not a guy like david bowie or bruce springsteen or looks like cure or depeche. even rupert hyne was the producer...for this its underrated. my favorite album from 1983...but i love also the double-lp, i have at home...mmmmh...fucking good. also underrated (no top 100 i think on single charts). Bad Marketing I think, but when I think about: Julian cope is the most underrated....

My daughter & I attended this concert on July 30 at the Oriental Theatre. We greatly enjoyed the music, along with the other concertgoers. The Fixx encouraged participation with the songs, especially the songs 'Stand Or Fall' & 'Red Skies'. (I have the vinyl LP "Reach The Beach" of which my favorite song is 'Outside'; although "Beautiful Friction" being my favorite album).
We met Cy, Jamie & Adam after the concert. They were very courteous & friendly. My daughter bought me the commemorative "Reach The Beach' towel of which they had autographed for me. We did not have the opportunity to meet Rupert & Dan. (Although I have met Rupert at last year Fixx concert at the Summit Music Hall, along with Cy & Adam). My best regards to the Fixx, that they will return to Denver.
Again, we enjoyed the Fixx music that night, hearing from the original band members from the 2nd album to date. [Thank you, Joshua Kenney, for the upload of this video]

U2 were a 'supergroup" though not at first, lots of image and hype eg "the Edge"? pah, maybe they just got sucked into it; this was new wave//new romantic right, quite a diff genre really; arty, ethereal, often understated (which U2 barely were, though Unforgettable fire has a few great lesser known tracks) creative producing, though also a little basic, I loved it, this was one of our absolute fav bands in the early 80's as we partied in Wellington NZ like the late teen//early 20's guys that we were!! never to be repeated

This is just like they were when I saw them at the Orange Bowl in concert, one wintry beautiful night with the stars out---they just blew me away and they were the opening band for The Police, in the early 80's. How lucky I was to experience them and their fantastic music and drama.

At a time when so many bands were struggling to find a cool look, The Fixx were there to provide rock solid music without a bunch of nonsense. I saw them several times in the 80’s and they were always awesome. The Fixx were generally classified as New Wave, but they were much more than that. In my opinion they were in a category all their own.

So under rated outfit from London. This is a great gig from '83. Turned 20 in November '83 and I have never forgotten a friend's birthday gift: LP 'Reach The Beach' from The Fixx as he knew I like them. Still got that LP. We were both really in to motorbikes. Anyway fast forward 7 years to 1990 and I had my near-death motorcycle accident aged 26 that ultimately resulted in me losing my entire left leg plus I suffered numerous other injuries that still require surgery today. Shit happens. My favorite songs from The Fixx are: 'One Thing Leads To Another', 'Lost Planes', 'Stand or Fall', and 'Red Skies At Night'.

Saw them Live in Alaska on this tour in 1983 - it saved my year since the Police had cancelled on us. Their's was a really great show. It was in a Hockey arena, so there was a second level above the main floor that my buddy and I could walk around on, I was able to watch them perfrom from just above and behind the stage set only about 25 feet from Rupert, I could read the set list from on his keyboard rack from there. They'd never allow this these days. Great memories.
