No one is ever going to touch the 1974 Steelers Draft Class. Donnie Shell as a free agent cemented this Legendary Dynasty builder.
Agree there. Teams are drafting more than five players these days that only a class of six or seven HOF's and multiple titles would top that one.
4 hall of famers is hard to beat
@@coldpinga9305Five if you include UdFA's giving us Shell
Donnie shell wasn’t drafted though he was an UFA
Tom brady thats all i have to say
To think that Jacksonville had such a stacked draft class on defense in 2016 only to launch a nuke on said strong defense after the 2017 season.
Never understood why they blew that team up, set them back a decade at least.
@@Chamberz55they blew their money on extending Bortles.
@Chamberz55 unfortunately, players wanna get paid and go to other teams for the bag
What I understand of it is players respected the Khans and Doug Marrone but hated Coughlin and GM Dave Caldwell. I think 25% of all grievances filed with the NFLPA in 2018 were against the Jaguars, if I remember correctly. It was just too hard trying to keep players happy with the front office that was in place.
Idk how the 2017 Saints draft wasn’t the one chosen. They didn’t get a ring but pretty much every player from that class from R1-3 has been an above average starter and they were a big reason why NO came very close to the SB towards the end of Brees career
Came to say this.
Yeah it's insane. They put so much weight on the 06 class because of the Bush hype (love Reggie btw) and Evans being a future HOFer. But 17 was just banger after banger, Ram's health situation sucks but still at least 4 all-pro level players.
Lattimore, Ramczyk, Marcus Williams , Kamara, Hendrickson and Anzalone all in 1 draft come on man! It’s clearly 2017
Totally, the 2017 and 18 teams don’t turn out as well as they do without that draft class.
That class swung their window back open.
Exactly. Was about to comment this.
Honestly, the Patriots should've been 2010. They got Devin McCourty, Aaron Hernandez (before you know), Brandon Spikes (great LB when healthy), and ofc GRONK.
Yeah
I'm a diehard Pats fan, AH killed it for us. They won't touch the class due to the negative PR.
They had a good draft class?
@@cameronbowman8372poor choice of words.
Yeah what a forced way just to slurp up Brady again
I wouldve done an actual class versus a pick
Babe wake up, NFL Throwback just dropped
For the Texans I would say 2006: We had 2 All-Pro Defenders in Mario Williams and Demeco Ryans (Also our current coach), as well as solid starters such as Eric Winston and David Anderson.
they are gonna get a super bowl out of the 2023 draft though
2006 is the champ for now but 2023 is basically one more season away from taking that crown
Not many years to choose from haha (Texan fan as well)
Your CZcams Channel Is Number #1 NFL Throwback
Well yeah it’s ran by the nfl
22:35 Packers
Ogden & Ray Lewis is nuts ❤
Shouldve at least given an honorable mention to the Cowboys' Dirty Dozen in 1975. It was headlined by The Manster and the ever underrated linebacker duo of Hollywood Henderson and Bob Breunig.
Excited to see the panthers result
it's definitely not gonna be the 2023 class i can tell you that for sure
Seahawks fan here, and I say somewhere in the early 2010’s for my team.
2012, yup. Suprised they didn't mention Turbin, Sweezy and Lane, or Kearse
We've been really good at drafting recently hope that trend continues this year
2010, 11, and 12 were all really good drafts for the Seahawks. I think any of them could be the best
LT's 31 Touchdowns in 2006 still remains an NFL Record along with 28 rushing touchdowns on the ground too 3:33
Saints 2017 class also had Marcus Williams in the second who got paid big money in Baltimore. That class is one of the best of recent memory
As a Steelers fan 1974 was one of the best if not the greatest draft class in NFL's History without question like they know what they got and it paid off in 4 Super Bowl wins of the 1970's
I'll always love these kinds of videos. Even if I may not always agree with the placement of teams, players, etc these are always great to watch just to study the depth of NFL history.
The Steelers 74 draft class is greatest in NFL history, FOUR HOF in one draft it's beyond incredible and unbelievable. And when you factor in that between 1969 - 74 they drafted another FIVE HOF !!! It was amazing, unbelievable, phenomenal there are simply no adjectives that accurately describe what their scouting department, GM and HC achieved. Go Hawks
John Mackey was one of the most underrated dominant TE in NFL's History without a doubt 7:50
50 year anniversary of our 1974 draft and us Steelers need our next franchise center
To me, the Chiefs 2022 Draft class is the best one in team history, especially considering the job the defense did in the most recent Super Bowl run. On defense, they got Trent McDuffie, George Karlaftis, Bryan Cook, Leo Chenal, Joshua Williams, and Jaylen Watson who have been major contributors in the past two years. They even added Isiah Pacheco in the seventh round, arguably one of the biggest steals in the team's draft history if not the biggest.
Two years and two Super Bowl wins later, this is the best draft the Chiefs ever had. Period.
Yeah it definitely added years to the Chiefs success.
Green Bay's 95 draft brought an immediate SB trophy in 96 without a single HOFr. Every guy in that draft played key roles when it counted to contribute to that Lombardi Trophy coming home. As a Packer fan, that's my favorite packer draft.
The old NFL Top 10 said 1958 for the Packers was their best draft.
@@fortynights1513 Yes. And it was their best. I just said 95 was MY favorite because 1, I was born in 1972, and that was the Superbowl I got to see until they won another 14 years later, and 2, pretty much every guy in that draft regardless of round had long careers most or all of which were in Green Bay and 3, I can remember specific games they don't win if Adam Timmerman doesn't pancake some pro-bowl DE or Antonio Freeman doesn't make an acrobatic one handed catch with the game on the line or William Henderson doesn't knock some LB out of his shoes so Edgar Bennett can get that four yards for the first down instead of three yards and have to punt. They were guys you could count on to make the play and not screw up when you needed them.
@@daviddorger6916Certainly a great group of players to have drafted.
@@fortynights1513 that's the kind of guys you want. You're never gonna have a roster filled will the best at every position but if you got 53 committed guys who knows their assignments and do whatever it takes to do them and who don't practice till they get it right, but rather practice till they can't get it wrong, you're gonna kick a lot of arse with that squad
1990 cowboys gotta be up here
Technically it was a trade (and a number of drafts from it). It was left out only because it was one year. And they also include the 70's teams and such.
Gale Sayers had one of the greatest if not the absolute BEST Rookie season in NFL's History 6 touchdowns vs 49ers and 22 touchdowns in a season in 1965 1:40
The best in my book
12 game season also
@@OGdienomyte850It was 14 by then
@@fortynights1513 appreciate the correction
The 2012 Seahawks definitely had an incredible draft with a Super Bowl to prove it! I'm most excited to see how the 2023 Texans turn out because it feels like they really found something special!
Tom Brady ALONE is on the only (draft) class of his OWN.
#salutetotheGOAT #2000NFLDraft
next video idea "Every team's worst draft class"
My Steelers: take your pick from 2015-2016(artie burns), 2019 (5 of the players drafted didn't make the only day roster) , 2021(najee and friermuth only good players from that class), 2022
If you thought those were bad, the 49ers in 2012 would like a word with you.
@@fortynights1513try the jets 2014 draft, the infamous Idzik 12
The 1975 Steelers is considered one of the worst ever. Only one player, DB Dave Brown, had a meaningful career, and he was poached away by Seatte in the 1976 expansion draft. Every other pick by Pittsburgh offered zero contributions.
@@TheAlfrulz glad I wasn’t born yet to see that then lol
As a Buccaneers fan, it's definitely not surprising to see the '95 class here given that the top two picks were not only HOFers, but Brooks is on the Mount Rushmore of middle linebackers in NFL history. But those were the only two players that really panned out in that class. Honorable mentions should have been mentioned, but even I am struggling to just pick one. 2012 and 2014 had future HOFers Levonte David and Mike Evans respectively, whereas 2020 had the excellent additions of Tristan Wirfs and Antonie Winfield. Cant go wrong with any!
So the Eagles' best draft class '57 includes a pick whom they traded THEN became a hall of famer? Cool, birds suck at drafting. Great vid.
Eagles 2012 draft class is the best one, without question
Patriots 1977 draft with Stanley Morgan, Raymond Clayborn, Pete Brock and Don Hasselbeck was good
Should now do a “worst draft class by each team” video
Bruce Smith and Andre Reed were awesome!!
As elite as 1996 was, I'd argue 2018 was on par with it
It's ridiculous they didn't even mention it, but they did with the Colts. 😂
I thought about it too, but it's hard to argue against two guys that are top 10 at their positions all time, and top 1 in the case of Ray Lewis.
It’s was our first draft really shouldn’t count honestly
@KatarHero72 it is hard to argue, but 2018 might do it
2x MVP Lamar Jackson, a top 3 TE in Mark Andrews, a Pro-Bowl OT in Orlando Brown Jr, and depth all the way throughout
No, 96 won you a super bowl, two actually cause you had Lewis still. 2018 hasn't sniffed one yet
Who else loves tuning in every Wednesday to watch NFL Throwbacks latest videos?
I think the 2022 draft could become the best one for the Jets
As a 49ers fan I'll still admit this: Staubach was underrated and ahead of his time. He was the only HoF QB whose prime years were during the "dead ball" 70's era who had a career passer rating above 80.
Fran Tarkenton’s career passer rating was 80.4, and he averaged 82 over 1970-1977; after the merger and before the Mel Blount rule.
The 2001 class brought the Bengals back to relevancy but 2011 class (Green, Dalton, Boling) and 2012 class (Kirkpatrick, Zeitler, Marvin Jones, Sanu, Iloka) were big reasons for 5 straight playoff apps in 2010s.
Yeah as a Bengals fan I'd say 2011 is high up there with AJ Green and Andy Dalton and 5 straight playoff appearances. It was a crime they didn't win that 2015 Pittsburgh Steelers playoff game.
0-5 in all of dem
@@michael7054 they got hoed on dat but vontez burfict bein a jackass and cost dem the win
@@onetakedayy- yeah all true
@@onetakedayy-They lost all of those playoff games, but it doesn’t mean they didn’t pick a good draft class
Your timestamp has the giants when it should be the green bay packers.
Thanks. I was looking for them. I counted 31 timestamps and Packers weren't listed.
The 2010 Patriots draft saved their dynasty. It’s ridiculous how Brady just gets 100 percent of the credit that class took them from 10-6 and a declining team to 14-2 and 13-3 and a super bowl. Without that class Brady doesn’t win another Super Bowl.
Sorry NFL, but Ozzie newsomes last draft might be better than his first. That 2018 Ravens draft was fire 🔥🔥🔥
Y'all gonna have to explain how the Eagles 2012 draft class is not the main one for them.
That draft class had Fletcher Cox, Mychal Kendricks, Vinny Curry and freaking Nick Foles in there.. all of em help win the franchise's first super bowl
The Brady draft is actually such a bad pick for the Pats. Especially since there’s absolutely no chance he wins his first 3 rings without guys like Ty Law that you mentioned from the ‘95 class
Or the 2010 draft
The 2001 draft brought them like 6 rings
The Bengals 2006 draft should have been an honorable mention... Jonathan Joseph, Andrew Whitworth and Domata Peko in the first 3 rounds.
Ray Lewis has as many superbowls as kills. Crazy
No honorable mention for 2005 Packers, Rodgers and Collins, I agree it's 1958 but I feel that should be honorable mention
2012 seahawks 😍
How about an honorable mention for the Bucs 1987 draft class? Bucs drafted Vinny Testaverde/Ricky Reynolds/Winston Moss/Mar Carrier/Ron Hall with honorable mention Wr Bruce Hill
That's 5 keepers with an honorable mention player. Outside of drafting Gruber in the first round, they didn't draft anything nearly as good till the 1995 draft class. I know Vinny Testaverde was the original Jamies Winston, but the rest of those players were underrated players.
I wouldn't say the best draft class for the Eagles was 1957 because drafted 30 players and most of them never played.
holy crap
nfl history is speaking again
Lions 2021 2022 and 2023 drafts
I know it’s early but the 2023 Rams could’ve been a honorable mention
They should've mentioned the 2018 Cleveland Bowns Draft Class. Since they wanted to go modern with the Texans, why not go modern with us? After all, we did have...
Baker Mayfield, who set the record the record for TD Passes by a rookie at the time with 27, found himself once again with Tampa Bay.
Denzel Ward, 3x Pro Bowler.
Nick Chubb, 4x Pro Bowler.
what this really tells me is that i should not discredit late round picks as soon as they are picked, a ton of the players were mid to late round picks. give me hope that we could get some studs even when it isnt expected
49ers Honorable Mention:
1981 Draft Class
1. Ronnie Lott (No explanation needed);
2. Eric Wright (4 Super Bowl Rings, 2 Pro Bowl, All-Pro; 10 years with 49ers);
3. Carlton Williamson (2 Super Bowl Rings, 2 Pro Bowls; 7 years with 49ers);
6. Pete Kugler (3 Super Bowl Rings; 10 years with 49ers);
FA: Mike Wilson (4 Super Bowl Rings; 10 years with 49ers);
FA: Milt McColl (2 Super Bowl Rings; 7 years with 49ers).
Really? No honorable mention for Dallas?
The "Dirty Dozen" of '75?!
Every Jimmy Johnson draft was impressive..
The 2005 draft?!

Mark my words. The 2023 Rams class will be one of, if not their best. And one of the best in the next 15 years
Bears just topped their best draft this year! Bear down! Especially when you consider we got Sweat with our 2nd and Keenan with our 4th
The fact that you start your franchise by drafting two hall of famers back to back says something lmao
Seattle 2010 2011 and 2012 drafts oh my god
In that legendary 2006 season, tomlinson had more points that the raiders that season
22:34 Packers scout Jack Vainisi was responsible for reports to lead then Packers GM to draft a lot of these players and is the reason he is in Packers Hall of Fame, unfortunately he didn’t live to see any of those championships in 60’s has he passed away in late 1960 from heart problems.
Honestly, even though Brady was in that draft, the 2000 draft was a pile of nobodies. Hell, you could've gone with '96 where they have 3 SB Champs in Terry Glenn, Lawyer Milloy, and Tedy Bruschi over '00.
1981 49ers drafted 3 starting Pro Bowl DBs that help them win 3 superbowls
It’s crazy how the Seahawks got the worst grade in the 2012 draft at the time, but it turned out to be their best draft
2020 Bucs draft class could give a run for the Sapp Brooks class
What about the 1995 Oilers/Titans with Steve McNair and Eddie George?

Patriots drafting TB12 best draft class ever :D
2017 Saints draft class
Gotta go with 1983 for the bears
wow
2018 has a strong case for the Ravens: Lamar Jackson, Mark Andrews, Orlando Brown Jr and DeShon Elliot
How is Atlanta not 1990 with Deion Sanders and Brett Favre?
2000 Patriots with only 1 player 🤦♂️
As a cowboys fan. Either 1989 or 2016. Hopefully I’m right
Id say the 2023 Lions draft is pretty dominate in comparison to what they put.
The biggest thing I learned from this video is that "Dick" used to be a really popular name
Steelers 1974 is da best in NFL history
Saints 2017 Draft Class > 2006 Draft class
2021 Dolphins class would be better one day! Jaylen Waddle, Jaelan Phillips and Jevon Holland 🤞🤞
With the full season of tape on Chantelle and CJ Stroud it may end up being premature. Year 2 tells the story with the most quarterbacks, can they adjust to the full season of DCs analyzing their game and how to stop them?
I just don’t see that happening with Stroud. He got better as the year went on and teams would have had more than enough game film on him at that point.
Brett Veach campaigned for Mahomes but he wasn't the one who turned the card in, John Dorsey did. Amazing talent evaluator, terrible contract negotiator.
Yes…. the Washington REDSKINS
for the giants, it has to be 1981. LT is considered of the greatest players of all time. nah, love stray but it's LT.
Ravens 2018 class nearly as good as it’s 1996 class
The typo for the bears (Butkus and Sayers were picks 3 and 4) prompted to look up that draft. No way my niners skipped over both of them and drafted a FULLBACK with the 2nd pick.... haha.
Imagine having your best Draft class in 1945
