Stafford points up then yeets it into triple coverage & Johnson makes every defender look helpless.... An absurd player & a QB with true faith in his WRs😂😂
And that was why Cooper Kupp was Super Bowl MVP: for one crucial drive, he was the return of Megatron.
They know if they don't catch that ball then they're getting broken fingers in practice 😂
DeAngello Hall shut down Calvin Johnson. 😏
@@raynel8495 yeah and? People have shut down Jerry Rice, TO, Moss, nobody is a perfect player. But out of all of those, rest assured Megatron is the least flawed.
Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald both top 5 receivers of all time, and yet they have no rings smh. Lions and Cards fan, I'm sorry
Fitzgerald may be but Johnson was third best in his era behind Julio and Ab who were putting up historic stats for five year metrics
No Calvin Johnson is great he just had no one else
@JamesB-mi9uu True, but still, Johnson was constantly putting up numbers, and although he had Stafford, it wasn't enough
Jerry Rice, Terrel Owens, Randy Moss, Antonio Brown, Calvin Johnson and then Larry Fitzgerald
@@Hitherehikes Him and Stafford lol.
Larry Fitz might be the most underrated receiver all time... 22 different qbs in 17 years
I always thought Larry should have been a Steeler. We would've won a Superbowl with him and Ben for sure
@@frednickels1832well of course cuz the steelers won a super bowl against him so if they had him they still would have won lol
Want to know how great Larry was. He has more tackles than drops, he's played with more quarterbacks than he has dropped passes, 15 years, he's played more years than he has drops.
Not quite but stats are still insane.
Approx 40 drops in his career. Stat based companies have their own criteria
He really was amazing. Dude deserved a ring.
@@frenchtoastmaffia nope officially 29 dropped passes and 49t takles
Drops aren't an official stat even though they should be. Regardless he has the fewest drops in nfl history for the amount of targets he got by a wide margin. For context one outlet estimated jerry rice had over 70 drops in the last 10 years of his career when his hands were better. Chris Carter also had over 70 drops according to the same outlet.
Larry owns all of the unofficial stats like contested catches, diving catches, one handed catches, mosses. Watching highlight videos, he has over twice as many mosses as moss which is absurd
Calvin Johnson was a menace with a god tier nickname
I’m not the only one in this comment section who thought Justin Blackmon thought would be an absolute monster in the NFL.
Fax, had he stayed clean, he coulda been special
When he was on the field, he did well. It was the off-the-field stuff that did him in.
He ruined his life man it’s sad to see
I didn't think he'd be Jerry Rice but I did think potential HOF.
they should all have been monsters..but he ruined his chance
People saying Mike Evans is as good as Megatron is insane. If you ever watched the both play and didn't notice the immense difference between the two, you don't know ball lol
Mike Evans consistency honestly gives Mike Evans a case.
3:25 Cooper Kupp’s 2021 season reminds me of Crazy Legs Hirsch’s 1951 season.
Both led the league in receiving yards, receiving touchdowns, and receptions (as well as receiving first downs for Kupp), and both played for the Rams in Los Angeles, and I believe the Rams won a title both years too.
U old as hell but I’m glad u still thriving brotha
Nah fr tho live the ball knowledge tho
Love*
@@SoFuknSwaggyI am not nearly that old.
Seahawks fan who didn’t start following the NFL until 2012, but just pointing it out because it’s a huge parallel I noticed.
Andre Johnson was a absolute BEAST with the Houston Texans a 1st Round 3rd overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft National Champ in 2001 University of Miami Hurricanes a National Championship team but in H-Town he was absolutely special strongest arms super splendid hands and excellent speed now a member of the Pro Football Hall Of Fame class of 2024
Facts I forgot all about Andre
Andre Johnson to me even with the HOF nod is one of the most underrated WRs of all time. The guy had a revolving door of QBs, was always a beast, had a 6 year stretch where 5 of his healthy seasons he was 1216-1598 yards 3x over 1500, 1x over 1400. Had Andre Johnson had a good to pro bowl type QB I believe he'd be number 2 or in total yards for WR
I actually forgot the Raiders drafted Amari Cooper. The few times the Raiders don't draft first round busts, they trade away the players in their prime.
Imagine him and Davante rn. They'd be a top 5-6 wr pair imo
I'm still pissed the Cowboys traded him for nothing as well. All the guy did was produce and get along with everyone.
@@blueeyedcowboy8291because he was overpaid and cowboys picked zeke over him stupidly
Him and Khalil Mack werent busts. Mack will probably be a Hall of Famer
@@Orto4956 the fact that they weren't busts and got traded away early was kinda his whole point
7:00: Just say Redskins, He wasn’t drafted by the Commanders. As a historian, it is always important to be historically accurate when stating certain facts.
Tell that to Washington 😂
That's just it they wanna rewrite history.
@@raymondsmith2040Nah, most CZcamsrs don’t give a damn either way. They’re just worried they’ll get demonetized.
We will NEVER see a Larry Fitzgerald or Calvin Johnson ever again.
Mike evans?
Mike evans
We will see someone the size of Megatron. Although Fitzgerald is a hard one
@@fatpeopleeat6882 fr thou. and he's a super bowl champion, which Fitzy and CJ are not!
@@cristianmacc no disrespect to mike evans but he is not Calvin Johnson but maybe he is close to Larry; both have sure hands and a consistent workhorse mentality.
Just imagine Larry Fitzgerald catching passes for most of his career from the likes of Joe Montana and Steve Young...
Just imagine if the Chargers took him instead of the Eli/Rivers pick. Would have had Brees, Tomlinson, Gates, and Fitzgerald as your offense.
@@silasrobertshaw8122 Imagine Fitzgerald playing for ANY NFL team with a competently managed roster :)
@@bioLarzen well, that wouldn't have been the Chargers then. lol. Go Bolts!
When a defensive coordinator's gameplan is to line up 2 dbs on a single receiver, you know you're in trouble. Megatron was an absolute BEAST. Imagine getting in position and looking across from you and there's two guys standing almost shoulder to shoulder JUST for you
I would love to see a team with all the Johnson's at WR. Calvin, Andre, and Keyshawn!
Josh Johnson qb
So if you had to have a team all with the same last name, what name wins? Gotta be Jackson right?
@@whiskeycan529 could be, but I know they'd have one hell of a halftime show!
There's only 3 WRs I thought were lock Pro Bowlers at the very least: Megatron, Larry Fitzgerald, and Charles Rogers (Randy I didn't see many games in college). Rogers looked like he was an NFL All Pro in college. It's a shame he didn't reach his potential.
Chuck is one of the sadder stories in sports. I remember while he was still at MSU, people were questioning whether or not he was the best WR in all of football, NFL included. Without all of the injuries, maybe he doesn’t develop a drug habit.
@@Brocuzgodlocdunfamdogsonhe was a God sports wise here in Michigan RIP
Wes Chandler was so underrated. Go back to 1981 and Saints fans were pissed when Bum traded him four games into the season.
Love this channel. Can you guys please bring back Caught in the Draft? One of the best concepts for an NFL series ever
Justin Blackmon was the most naturally talented Jaguar I've ever seen. He was a stud from the second half of 2012 through the first half of 2013. Shame he couldn't beat his demons
This faster pace is pretty amazing
Marvin Harrison jr gonna join this list and potentially malik.
My favorite WR of all time is John Jefferson during his Chargers days. Nothing more exciting than watching the Air Coryell attack in action.
Ahmad Rashad was also an analyst for the nfl on nbc in the late 80s and early 90s
I don’t want an early retirement to ever define Calvin Johnson or have people forget how truly amazing he was. He is without question the best WR I’ve ever seen in my life
Irving Fryar was a pass-catching machine during his time in the league who had a great career. Justin Blackmon was a draft bust due to his off the field issues and suspensions. Keyshawn Johnson was a pass-catching machine who enjoyed a great career. Andre Johnson is regarded as one of the greatest wideouts in Texans history. Larry Fitzgerald is regarded as one of the greatest wideouts in Cardinals history. Braylon Edwards was a draft bust coming out of Michigan. Desmond Howard was a return specialist who won a Super Bowl as a member of the Packers. I didn’t have a clue Ahmad Rashad played in the NFL. Peter Warrick was a draft bust because he never had a 1,000-year receiving season in his NFL career. Michael Westbrook was never a true superstar in the league. A.J. Green was definitely a superstar wideout with the Bengals. Sammy Watkins was a solid wideout who battled with injuries and inconsistency plays, so he won a Super Bowl with the Chiefs. Amari Cooper was definitely a star wideout with had a good career so far. Corey Davis was definitely a draft bust who wasn’t a great player.🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
Crazy how the "Best Catches in NFL History" videos leave out some of these crazy catches from before the 2000s
Example: 18:23
Do one like this except for RBs
Larry has the most diving catches, one handed catches, diving one handed catches, leaping catches, contested catches, and 2x more mosses than moss
You guys should do a video about every teams biggest outlier season. Like the 2017 jags or the 2022 rams
Yep, Justin Blackmon: What could have been
do a piece on how some teams draft well on specific positions plse??
Pretty sure Desmond Howard never played for the commanders
Depends on how thin you want to split those hairs. He never played under the Commies name, but spent his first three seasons in Washington.
@@zlinedavid that was the joke he played for the redskins not the commanders. The tag said 3 years with the commanders but technically never was a commander he was a redskin
Agree he okayed for redskins I hate when people do this they are so scared of backlash.
@@zlinedavid commies name? Grow up kiddo no one took it as offensive, not even native americans it's just whiny people like you pushing for unnecessary change
Love Watching Your CZcams Channel NFL Throwback
Charles Rogers would've been one of the greats. RIP
17:34 If the talent pool split with the USFL doesn’t happen, then Irving Fryar is probably not going first overall.
Reggie White, Steve Young, and his teammate Mike Rozier were all among those already taken by the USFL.
That said, really good career though; retired seventh in career receiving yards I believe, and could’ve gotten even more if he had better quarterbacks than who the Patriots had in the 1980’s.
Charles Rogers was a Nick Saban product at Michigan State before the Alabama run
What I find shocking is how few of these players, even the hall of famers, failed to win a Super Bowl for the teams that drafted them. If I’m not mistaken, crazy legs was the only one of this entire group that got a national championship well before the Super Bowl era and Desmond Clark got one SB but for a different team than the one who drafted him.
justin blackmon had so much potential, coulda been the next andre johnson but then drug happened...
Block in the back 1:58. What a whiffed call
While it was good to see the Bucs were repped by Keyshawn, I'm a little miffed that Mike Evans wasn't on this list . . . until a friend reminded me that he was taken in 2014 as a 7th Pick in the 1st round.
I always say this, if Larry Fitzgerald had a franchise QB and a solid team around him like Jerry Rice did. Larry would've broken all of those records, had at least one ring, and easily would've been considered the best WR of all time in NFL history. He put up great numbers with over 20 different QB's and team changes.
That Desmon Howard story is awesome.
Love me some Larry dude was a beast idk about top 5 ever but he up there
Why does Fitzgerald always get slept on
He’s literally the most recent HOF in this video
I could see if he’s forgotten cause he played in the 60s
Because he played for the Cardinals
the drop zone poster of Braylon Edwards is nasty work 😂😂
From Georgia Tech to the Detroit Lions, Megatron was nearly unstoppable!
Bengals just chucking in WRs in the 1st Rd. I remember them drafting John Ross too
I freakin Luv This Channel!!
Marvin Harrison jr. has the most hype for a receiver I’ve seen. I think he’s going to live up expectations and more, 4 inches taller than his dad
Do running backs next!
Irving fryar more than any other receiver in NFL history, proved that he could go and play with any quarterback in any system, and be one of the top guys at the position regardless of his situation. he is the first player in NFL history too record 1000+ receiving yards on 3 different teams and caught an NFL record of at least 1 touchdown pass from 19 different quarterbacks. This guy deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.
In his 17 year career, Larry Fitzgerald played with 22 QBs who only earned 3 pro bowls between all of them, yet he's still #2 all time in receiving yards and receptions and #6 in TDs. Also had the greatest hands and he made spectacular catches consistently like they were nothing. His 2008-09 postseason was absolute peak WR play, he had 30 catches for 546 yards and 7 touchdowns in FOUR games. A WR has never carried a team as hard as he carried the cardinals that year
Irving Fryar deserves a gold jacket PLUS to say there weren’t any HoFers in the NFL Draft from 84 is inaccurate. Most if not all of those big name USFL guys were drafted by NFL teams even if they didn’t report right away to the NFL
The nfl throwback/game preview guy should be a game show host. His ball knowledge is also probably insane
Imagine if Larry fitz had even a HALF serviceable QB during his career. Dude put up all time numbers with accountants throwing to him. Notice when he had Palmer and Warner he was dominating even more than he already did.
You hit the nail on the head with Wes Chandler. He was such a remarkable player. He really should be talked about more, because he would tear up the NFL if he played today.
Bills need to draft a receiver first round now since they decided to trade away Diggs.
LSU is wide receiver U. We used to be DBU and still are to some extent but LSU and in particular Louisiana pumps out great WR’s all the dam time. For instance, Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson, Devonta Smith, Cee Dee Lamb, Malik Nabers. Brian Thomas Jr, and Terrance Marshall Jr a 2nd round pick by the Panthers in 2021. All of these guys are from Louisiana and 5 of them played for LSU. Lamb and Smith were born and raised here but went to Oklahoma and Alabama respectively.
I’m a Ravens fan, but I have to say that Megatron is hands down the best receiver on this list followed closely by Larry Fitzgerald💯
Kyler Murray & Marvin Harrison Jr on the Cardinals 🏈🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Blackmon was a talent that was a sad case. He was one of the best college WR I ever seen
NFL i loved the top 10 FA fails, can we get a top 10 FA wins ?! please !
God I love AJ green, it makes me so sad we never even got close with him, he's such a good dude and good story...
I like aj cause he went to summerville hs. Ruined it by going to uga.
Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, and Wes Chandler. Seems like if you want a future HOF receiver, you take him with the third pick 😉.
Just Throw Me The Damn Ball😂😂😂 16:58
Man I thought Corey Davis was going to be a monster when the Titans drafted him. If you watch some of his career highlights some catches he could make were insane. At least while with the Titans you can't say he was in a great spot on a team that clearly has absolutely no understanding of how to build and use a wide receiver core. If you look back at the Titans entire history they've never had that clear #1 stud receiver (well you could argue once in AJ Brown but as we know they kept their record of not having a clue when it comes to WR's when they made the brilliant decision to trade him for what amounts to Treylon Burkes) If Derrick Mason is pretty much the widespread answer to who the best franchise wide receiver was you know you're lacking. This is the franchise that spent the #2 pick on a QB in Mariota and watch him thrive early and then decided to change offensive coordinators every year forcing him to not just learn how to play in the NFL but learn a whole new offense every year. Hmmm... I wonder why his career went down the tubes.
😅today years old n found Ahmad Rashad played in the NFL 🤯
Wes Chandler fit really perfectly like a GLOVE in 1981 San Diego Chargers team with Dan Fouts throwing it to him 14:22
Seems like the #3 pick is a good omen for WR's going in the top 5.
The Ref was the best defense vs Megatron
Sammy Watkins was another beast
Wish you’d done top 6 picks so Julio Jones could be included!
Julio Jones should get a honorable mention since he was the 6th pick in 2011 Some would say he had a better career that AJ Green did
It is insane that Irving Fryar isn’t in the HOF.
Jaguars could have had a HOF guy in Blackmon. very frustrating
Blackmon just couldn't get off the bottle and didn't have a G.A. babysitting him like at ok
52 rec as a WR got you a pro bowl in 72’…. Crazy
you could buy a cheeseburger for 35 cents in 1972 lol different times
Teams ran more often as a percentage of plays, and 1970-1977 in particular might be the worst time to try to pass or play receiver efficiently as the Mel Blount rule didn’t exist.
Charlie taylor was basically deebo samuel before deebo samuel was himself he was the original deebo samuel based off what i was seeing cuz he did everything deebo did
Congrats marv
MHJ about to join this list.
Now this is an interesting video
Julio Jones. Every qb needs a Binkee. Coaches need better roster building and make great decisions and then you might have a run. Best coaches can do make it consistently. 17:50 17:51
Marvin Harrison Jr gotta go top 5
I firmly believe that justin blackmon would have been a hall if famer if he was sober
18:27
hold tf up... and we thought odell was doin it first.. man..
This video backs up my claim that top 10 drafted WRs don't make as big a difference with regard to Super Bowls as anyone thinks. Most never make/win the Super Bowl, at least with their original team. That goes for most first rounders, too.
As an eagles fan. I am soooo happy geriatric jones let go of Amari cooper
Megatron should have forced a trade instead of retiring. Imagine if he had gone and played a season or two with Brady…
Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Bolden was an awesome duo
Justin Blackman could have been great. He couldn't defeat his demons 😔 he was so good
How is Irving Fryar not in the HoF? I mean his stats aren't great for today's game, but they seem like amazing during his time.
Possibly someone who is looked down on by voters because of off field issues.
Also gets a bit overlooked because the Patriots of the 80’s and Dolphins of the 90’s are two teams that are forgotten about generally.
But he played really well.
Man the Lions GM really loved his top-5 WR busts
Matt Millen had the football IQ of a kumquat
Sammy Watkins had the potential to be one of the greats, unfortunately we (the buffalo bills) used him like a damn battering ram😂
If cooper so good why has he been on 3 teams that fast😮
huh. didn't realize it was for LITERAL top 5, then 4, 3 etc.
Ahmad rashad name was Robert earl moore ? Interesting
If Megatron didn’t retire early he would be the undisputed goat and no one can tell me otherwise (I may be a lions fan)
No Julio that’s crazy
Irving Fryar was pretty underrated
Retired seventh in career receiving yards, and could’ve gotten more if his team had a better quarterback in the 80’s.
Was Julio a top ten pick cause he was a monster 2
