I love the older STI's but here in Florida they are all either trashed or people want stupid money for them. A guy can dream I guess but no thanks on those deallies lol..
Come up here, you can find them for dealsssss
california is the same way 😔
I’m with you same boat there either trashed or way to pricey
Come to NY you’ll see trashed lmao. Rotted for stupid money
there’s one listed in Colorado right now with 70k miles if I remember correctly and they’re asking 22.5k
I learned everything I know about cars from your videos, I dream to own an STI one day and these videos will help me mod it, keep up the great videos my man 😁
Appreciate the support my friend and hopefully you can snag one in the near future! 🥳
I’m right there with ya when I was thinking about buyin one I started going through his videos for weeks sadly I couldn’t find a decent STI around here for a good price but the wrx is treating me well
I dreamed to own an STI for years and finally got lucky enough to find a good deal on a clean 2010 STi in October. Learned everything about these cars from Smeedia and wouldn’t own one if it weren’t for him. Thanks Tanner!
Anytime you feel like the STI is overvalued just keep in mind all the money you'd have wrapped up in doing a 6spd/ Brembo swap on a WRX. Even DIY, it's 6-8k in factory hardware depending on condition.
Am SO happy to see you start on the Blobeye! Lots to do but lots already done - can't wait for the next instalment! 👍
I appreciate your passion on all the builds! You want them all perfect, and I agree, they should be perfect! 👌
I love your videos since you do more than a little aesthetic mod in just one video. I just installed my AOS over the weekend thanks to you!
I do wanna do a little more ascetic mods to this thing 🔥
Tanner I agree 100% with wanting to make it your own and have a better frame of mind, knowing you've made it your own and done the necessary things to it. Watching your videos has helped me with my '98 OBS swap to a full 02 wrx. Every little detail you put in really helps! Thanks for all the inspiration! You're a legend ✌️
Glad I can show it all my friend! Honestly the small details like that make it so much more worth it imo 🔥
Here in Florida this weekend I saw a '04 STI , the Limited edition World Rally Blue / Gold BBS with only 6,836 Miles. Sold for $77,000 at the Mecum Auction. It was beautiful!
THING IS A UNICORN!!!! 😳😳😳
Your editing skills are top notch. Always enjoy watching
Appreciate it my friend 🫡🫡🫡
I saved and am in the process of restoring and properly maintaining my '05 STI. Great videos. Keep up the excellent work. I use your videos for references, along with ALLDATA and Subaru part diagrams. I just dropped the transmission against your better judgment to install a new multi-disk ACT clutch. The trans install will be a bitch to reinstall; I can tell just by how it had to come out.🔥🙏🏾
I'll be there with you dropping a trans soon 😫 they're never a fun time to get back in 😮💨
Loving your videos mate and really appreciate the detailed way you approach your builds! Cheers from Australia!!!!
@DM_smeedia Dm sent mate, first time I have used that app so hopefully you get it!
The bolbeye will forever be my favorite look! Especially with the JDM fog lights 🎉
The JDM Fogs make the front end look so good!
If you have to pass some stuff now that you see, it just gives you room to do a full restore later. It is good to see you bring life back into an icon.
Brother you are one hell of a mechanic kudos!
Thanks buddy!
Finally we get some more gd love on the channel.i love the gr and va content but this is so refreshing to see, since most of this is where i first say you,was dealing with and building karma
Tbh I missed the GD stuff 🔥
Looking forward to seeing how this turns out!
I feel your waste gate installation pain.
When I went external and an FP blue , the last thing I put on was the gate and the dump tube and it was hell. Probly 2 hours worth and I was in pain.
12:29 kyo must make one hell of a radiator or they are really good to builders, I have seen soooooo many builders use their products. I hope it’s both but it does not see to matter the build they are in every build from every channel I watch. Also this is gonna be sick I can’t wait to see what that lil turbo will do, especially with all the bolts tightened down. Thank you as always tanner for your hard work and content
Koyo had never done me dirty with any of their products. 10/10 suggest Koyo 💪
Really excited to see what this BB500 will do 🔥
So pumped on this build, even though I know you will fix and sell her... Your killin the game.
Refuse to sell this one 🔥
I am going to be doing most of the same with my '05. I will be watching this close, love your builds!
Appreciate the Support Liam! These older ones def need some love
My boy let’s go! Was stoked for this!
Get us some GD content again 🫡
Followed this channel since 10-15k now its 100k ++ subscribers 🥲🥲 much love
Back to the builds 💯💯💯
Bro watching you find the issues with this car as you repair it is exactly how I felt repairing/restoring my 2003 C5 z06 with an A&A kit on it. Just absolute confusion as to why shit was half-assed🤣 Love the videos, keep it up man.
NONE OF IT MAKES SENSE, I don't understand. Why not just do things the right way 😭😅
Reminds me of my STi when I bought it, it was neglected as well. Now she's better than ever.
This is funny, because I was just thinking about my friend who blew his transmission and his jdm motor in one of these. Love the vids man!
No more transmissions are allowed to go 😅
Great Video man!
Love the progress... and why do you hate wormgear clamps? What's your preference as I didn't catch that??
I hope to someday own this specific sti. Great video as always.
Meant specific chassis, ha
I bought a 04 wrx wagon and there some much work to do on it love your videos
Just started following, good channel!
I noticed you reinstalled the coolant hoses on the bottom of the AOS, IAG say they torque it to a specific N.m. How tight did you do them? Also loving you talking about what you like and don't like about other peoples builds, it's really helpful to avoid doing some of that stuff on my own build.
I have an 04 STi as well, and unfortunately, I didn't get it earlier, since it is really showing its age with all the rust it has. Mechanically it is in great condition, but the rust has gotten so bad that it has holes in the frame. Now I am just trying to maintain it as well as I can until it eventually becomes so bad that it cannot drive. I am taking measures to prevent it from really worsening by keeping it in the garage(I have a feeling it wasn't for most of its life) and taking it to the car wash more frequently to get rid of the salt from the road and try to make sure it doesn't go bad too quickly.
just learned about that 3mi hose watching this, thats slick lol need one now
Definitely worth it 🔥🔥🔥
Still saving to get the rebuild on my 400hp 06 wrx, so watching your videos is so nice, takin a lot of inspiration since watching your channel
Hopefully won't be too much longer for ya! Always glad to be able.to share and help inspire 🥳
I have an 2004 wagon I just wrecked and I'm pissed glad you are saving the sedans hahaha
Electrical tape on a PCV Connector...🤦♂️Yeeezz🤣🤣🤣..👏👏👏 to the mastermind behind of it...good thing you spot it!👌
Will the old version Grimmspeed Down pipe not work with the Green speed update? I actually have the same issue that you are having with the V2 downpipe and external waste gate. Im pretty sure you can custom that dump to fit perfectly.
‘05 alpine white STI has been my #1 project car dream since I watched Born To Race 😂😂
High key an underrated movie
Hey I checked out links of the Jack's you've listed and and I think it's regular Jack's, is there a link to the air compressed jacks?
Eyy mines an aspen white with a bb500 too. Still have a top mount so I haven’t been able to push it yet but I like it for a stock location turbo
Hi Tanner, what model is your QuickJack? I did the measurements for my 05 STi and I'm pretty set on getting the 5000TLX... just wondering if you had the standard or the extended length. Thanks bro!
Great vid man! I just got done with break in miles on my 2011 sti with an ra block and it feels great😈
Ohhhhh good to hear! 😁🔥 any added power mods?!
@@Smeedia just aem intake invidia catted downpipe and tomei exhaust. Hopefully gonna do your 350whp package you made a video on!
Spring clamp supremacy.
Thank you!!!! Worm gears have a special place in hell
For wastegate solo install you can just put compressor to nipple (spring psi) to close it
I appreciate to attention to detail. I want to see work that inspires me to keep on track making everything perfect. other channels where they slap stuff together for a sema deadline makes me want to barf 🤮
It's the attention to detail 🫴
It's a 25 yr old Subaru... Errr 20! 19! 19yr old Subaru 😆
Seriously tho, two things we love about you man. 1) you invest yourself into your cars. And that comes thru with the quality of your builds. 2) love that you've brought so many cars back, you have a solid process.
Fav sti model, love one of these with a ez30 swap
With the new components that will be installed on the 2004 WRX/STI, this will be one of your best running cars in my opinion.
It should be solid 🔥 the current engine makes me a bit weary though
@Smeedia Don't worry Tanner, you will find all the problems and fix them. Great content, I'm enjoying my stock 2020 STI . Stay safe brother. Until the next video.
Awesome broh!! Nice car.. Learning from you.. I own a wrx 01 bug eye.. Looking forward to do a swap on it from 05/07 sti hawk eye.. Your videos helps me alot..
Ohhhh that'll be a sweet swap, gling to a 2.5L?
Yeah!! That's the idea!!.. Gotta get ready. It will get lotta problems but it will worth it. Lotta stuffs wanna put on it speacially 2.5 engine! Regards💪🤝
After I bought my wrx it felt kinda good undoing all the sketchy stuff and doing it properly, idk what it is about it
Great video! You save with that discount on the Cobb stuff my friend!? Also. Another thing you can do is, let's say on the 1st of every month, get a coupon and stack em so you can save them for big purchases! 😬
Also I'm with you on the OCD thing and wanting to do it you're way! I say spend once hurt once in terms of fixing the oil pan and checking the engine. Then VOW to keep it as is as a daily driver and let Blue and the Hatch be the big bois!
Legit content bruh, I love it
I challenge you to a SC build for power to weight
I'll strip everything out 😤
@@Smeedia since you're going to be opening the WRX 6sp, are you going to throw some PPG sets in there for when Blue breaks something?
@@DarkInstinct05 nooooo, too many $$$$
All these refurb videos are making me want to refurb mine....and it was rebuilt 3 years ago. 😅
Let's go tanner this will be a nice daily for the channel. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
I'm excited to give this thing a new life 🔥
Hey Smeedia ... what do worm gear clamps do, that you don't like?
This is my dream car hopefully I can get one,one day
I wish you had more time for this project.
I have a GR wrx and a GD sti.
The GD is by far my favorite 😎
Just my 2 cents
Keep up the content 🔥
We will 🫡 this is just a temporary run through to get it road worthy 🥳
@@Smeedia I get it,
when i got mine it was in rough shape too.
the work never ends 🤣
IAG also has the new TGV housing’s compatible with greenspeed.
Could do some mounts while the TMIC is out! Dangerous cycle lol it always is…..
Sweet stuff tho bro!
Those TGVs ain't worth it IMO, dose not fix the issue of the the motors being so large
Catching up on videos and b4 u said its kinda rusty I said the same thing about the oil pan lol
In the process of obtaining an R35 in the next few months but an 04-05 STi is still a dream car. Don't want it to be fast. Just reliable and clean. Such a cool car.
The blobs are by far my favorite, that's kinda how I feel about this one. Just want it to be a fun little street car. Nothing crazy for power compared to the others.
What year R35 you looking into? 👀
@@Smeedia 2017 premium. If you end up wanting to sell this thing instead of making it a daily I'll be paying attention. Love the content as always! Happy new year.
@@MacchiMulattoyou could buy mine lol
Hi taner question do i need to change my turbo to upgrade the headers on m'y 2015 subie
loving my V2 Downpipe, was super curious if you could even make it fit with the external setup pretty sure GS has said it shouldnt work but if theres a will theres a way i suppose lol
I made that thing fit 🤣🤣
Can you do the full Cusco bracing cataloge on this one... would love an honest bracing review!
Maybe, that kits pretty spendy 🙏
The first STi I looked at buying was a silver 04, had 50,000miles in 2016. Between me calling the dealership and driving an hour, it had sold. They had it detailed and sitting inside the showroom with all the new cars. I was devastated but the searching continued, the 4th STi I went to see was a 06 WRB/ it's been my DD for 7 years. That 04 will forever be the one that got away. Must have been the showroom lighting or they put crack cocaine in the tire shine.
I'm guessing it was the cocaine that made it sell so fast 😤
Getting there one step at a time 🚗💥💨🔥
Ooooookay, I have an 05 and need that lift system…. because I own a subie… what system is that? Super legit!
I jsut spent 17K restoring my 05 forester sg6. It has an IAG engine in it now and will haul ass once its broken in.
LOL, first Bader's video where they're fighting the WG on the dyno, then you. I've once taped the WG to the up-pipe to get it to stay put while fighting the clamp. Lots of cussing. I wonder if 100% of the performance issue was the gaping exhaust leak under the turbo. I have a 1.5XT-R 10cm, the bolt to the left of the bracket @7:32 is a pain to tighten because of the fat housing and you need to remove the coolant line to tighten the bolt to the right of the bracket. Someone didn't try hard enough. I like these videos of fixing up nice but neglected cars.
You should do a video on how to somewhat wire tuck the engine bay so it doesn’t look like wires everywhere. I wanna do mine but idk where to even start
I've debated it, I may make that one 👀
@@Smeedia pls do I’m sure everyone would thank you for that.
@@Smeedia It’d be good content to make if u ever run out of ideas
So glad for some more BlobEye content! #blobeyeordie!!!
Blob eye is back 🔥🔥🔥
Gonna request this, cause I think it would be awesome. Can you throw UEL headers on this 04 STI?
I was not planning on swapping manifolds so.... maybe lol
So jelly of that pile of new parts. Its everything I want for my 05 but I barely have half of it. Have you ever considered using a 90 on the radiator drain cause ya that makes such a mess?
Can't use one on the oem rads but after market ones totally 🔥
Hey Tanner, with the process west top mount what whp do you think you will make with the turbo? Following this build closely as I am also going to do a process west tmic on my 05 sti
tbh we would cap the turbo before the intercooler lol
Is this car going to be for sale? Or are you freshening it up to keep?
a comparison of IWG vs EWG would be neat since that downpipe is mean't for IWG.
Where are you putting the jack when you lift the older style subarus up? And what are bad about the omni sensor. I just purchased a 4bar for my car but haven't installed it yet.
Scaling is normally off with the omni sensors. Cobb or AEM is what I suggest to everyone. And the pinch welds, rear diff or front jack point off the power steering rack support brace
I wanna get a 05 sti so bad,
In pa they are going for 15-20k
i'm in the need. the need for Smeed 🤣
What's the preferred alternative to the much hated worm gear clamps? I can't find any decent ones at any auto part store, so I just use the dreaded worm gears :/
Spring or compression clamps 🫡
I have a new killer b pan complete kit pan, picup, tray all hardware that comes new with it aswell as a sti oil dip stick and tube ext in ny I'll give ya a killer deal on it if interested my guy 🤙
I hope you can get a BRZ/FRS again near in the future...🙏
And keep it N/A with mods and Final gear swap🤞
Still in the back of my mind, miss my old ones 😫
k frame or h frame?. Always wonder is it state/country based 🤔
Im only 15 and I watch u from 2019 bro
My man's 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@Smeedia 😇
I made the mistake of putting worm clamps on my turbo coolant hoses... NEVER DO THIS. Stupid things unscrew themselves and leak, I snug mine back up every half tank or so... Too lazy this winter to drain the coolant and replace them with OEM spring clamps. 😂 Tisk, tisk to me because I've been my own mechanic my whole life and should have learned by now.
Spring or compression clamps onlyyyyyyy
What types of hose clamps do you prefer? Mentioned hating worm gear but didn’t really explain.
Compression or spring clamps 🫡🙏
Where bought the jacks at
I am new to Subarus I got a 2011 wrx with 87k miles on it it has an e-tune done by torqued performance, turbo smart recirculating valve, invidia catted downpipe, and spt exhaust. I will probably keep the car how it is don’t want it to be heavily modified I will be daily driving it and looking to get the most longevity I can. I need to do an oil change soon and I am not sure what oil would be best to use I watched your old videos where u tested Castrol and motul. I have also been told to use rotella t-6 also should I be using oem oil filter? If any one can give me any help/tips would be appreciated, thank you. Also keep it up w the content ur videos teach me a lot
For my street cars I use Havoline , I woukdent suggest using Rotella anymore. They changed the formula on it a few years ago. For your car I'd suggest using 5W40. I like to bump it up a bit over factory
Having a RHD turbo Subaru … I can relate with the lack of space turbo side 😅.
That's got to be a hit mess to fit all that over there 😅
@@Smeedia swapping for a STI steering knuckle with no dampener is key. Would love to see you do an import RHD Subaru one day. 🙌
whats wrong with worm gear clamps?
Can I get the spec/ tire setup on those t7r’s?
Ohhhhh baby that dump tube is gonna SING! Would welding the dump tube to the down pipe work? Not connecting them as far as flow, just making them one piece so it cant rattle? Even just a little tack weld?
I could but installing would be a royal PIA 😭
@@Smeedia Tack it up there while its on the car! Just a lil brrrrrzt bam!
Smeedia is the "subie performance " of america.
There is a trick with compressed air to c ok mpress the ewg to hold it open while you clamp it down
I didn't have the right nozzle 💔
Aww man, yeah I need that next time, it sucked pressing it by hand
I love the Subaru content but would you ever consider doing something different like the evo again?
I've been low key trying to buy another Skyline 🤫
I just bought a blob sti it has a check engine light p0457 the evap code the guy said he replaced the lines and the gas cap any idea what it could be now?
I'd check the solenoid in the engine bay 👀
Why didn't you put decatted down pipes? I've got them on my F80 m3 and they are great
Tuning changes, we're using an accessport so for tuning purposes we need a cat 🤝
I see your hatred for worm gear clamps. Do you prefer t bolt clamps ? What’s your preference. Also where would I go to replace all rubber hoses ? Doing an engine rebuild and wanting to replace all hoses and clamps.
I get all.of mone through Subaru 🫡 and I use compression clamps 🫴🙏
Will you have a check engine because of the iag comp aos? Sorry noob question and wanting to swap to the comp version
Not on the 04 🫡
bought an 05 wrx and running into the same issues. so many places i said "WTF were they thinking?!"
Pretty much how most older modified ones are now 😭
Whats wring with worm gear clamps? I use them all the time, never had an issue.
See worm gears fail and leak before compression clamps do. Plus worm gears will chew into the rubber hose and destroy it
