I am making one of the most beautiful Damascus recurve knives I've ever made! This was a many many week build with many complications that I had to overcome! So please enjoy this full knife build.
The precision through the whole build was astonishing. This is probably the most beautiful knife I've ever seen.
Hey thanks Blake
Merry Christmas
Ik oon
mindblowing
I’ve been a smith for years and the skills involved in your blade making are, quite frankly, mind blowing. If ever a bladesmith could be seen as an artist first and a smith second, you sir, are that man. Thank you for sharing this with us.
😮😮
As a machinist myself, I understand the painstaking skill and precision this build. Outstanding!
Thanks

WOW!
You are not a blacksmith. You are an artist ❤
then how did he make that knife?
@@Everydazed Blacksmiths don't create knives. Bladesmiths do.

How is it that your work keeps getting more spectacular?
It must be sorcery.
It's funny you should say this. I had this weird vision of what would happen if Kyle were to be taken back in time and presented this to a medieval king or lord.
I came to the conclusion they would probably think he was definitely some sort of sorcerer, and the sword or knife would become a thing for fear and wonder.
@@SarmonOflynn I think there were a few swords and knives of similar quality, so if not sorcery then easily a master.
The sword of Goujian is an example of a never to be repeated level of mastery. Found in immaculate condition in its sheath over 1000 years old after having sat buried and wet for decades.
@@commonsense7754 That was the one I was thinking of. Though if I recall the reason it was not rusted at all was because it was stored in an incredibly well sealed box.
@@An_Attempt I'm not a bug weapons guy, so I am not very familiar with historical swords. But if i think of the sword Kyle made a couple of years ago, and particularly the wonderfully deep and unnatural colours of the materials thank to oxidation, I have (in my very limited experience) have a hard time believing that and ancient person would have seen anything of that kind of otherworldly quality.
I obviously could be wrong, it was just a feeling I had.
Possibly the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

There aren’t enough superlatives to describe how utterly amazing your craftsmanship is. So I leave it with one. Wow!
You explain your craft so well that this could start up people to go to metal working, which is awesome!
The patience to be so meticulous with your craft is honestly awe inspiring. If your knives were sent back in time they would've been regarded as legendary weapons
I mean, you don't have to time travel for that though
Send the cheapest knife you can buy off Amazon "back in time" and it would be considered legendary... What a dumb comment

This is a museum piece, I am not sure who buys your finished pieces but they have an heirloom work of art many generations will enjoy.
I have seen so many Damascus and knife/blade makers on CZcams. But I have to say that your attention to detail and skill stand out above the rest. Absolute master craftsman! Live long and prosper!
I've seen a lot of really well produced knife videos and this is by far the best. Not only did an obviously huge amount of planning and skill go into the damascus itself, but the video and audio just had me pumped the entire time. Stellar, stellar work.
Yes... he pays attention to everything!!!
This was well worth the 33 min, I had no idea how much went into knife making. This was by far one of the best knife making videos I have seen, loved every bit of it. It is a masterpiece!
His is a beautiful peace of art. Most are not anywhere near that piece. I am impressed with the quality and products he used as well as the artwork involved. Very nice knife.

Merry Christmas my friend

@@KyleRoyerKnives Merry Christmas to you and your family as well!
This is the most intricate build I’ve ever watched for the end pattern. I’ve watched ‘intricate’ smithing before but nothing with this result. Loved the watch.
That brought a tear to my eye. Absolute stunning craftmanship.
The quality of the craftsmanship of this video brought me to tears, a masterpiece doesn't begin to describe this.
Dude that is a pure masterwork. The pattern really stuck out in my head and I couldn't stop looking at it. While watching the presentation of the finished knife I found myself trying to use my mouse to move around the knife to look at it closer, I love it.
I want to make things like this when I can afford the craft. To hold and use something I spent so much time on would be amazing.
Keep it up man! You make some amazing pieces of art!
I have gotten sucked into watching your content ever since I watched you tirelessly build a dagger for months. I just want to say that your level of craftmanship is absolutely astounding and the methodology to Damascus mosaic textures and attention to detail even finding a flow between the finished plates so that there is no separation is art. But along with the artform you also have attention to the quality of the finished product, a truly usable, durable, and long-lived blade with beautiful and elegant curves that only lend a joist between art and practicality as those curves bare a cutting edge that could never be rivaled by a straight edge. One day, people with a fine pallet of knowledge in knives will be peering through collectables and will stop their eyes on your work and they will ask.... "Is that a Royer I see there?" even if your insignia all but dulls from the metal, they will know your work.
You are seriously one of the only knife makers who is just as good at the woodworking aspect as the metalworking. There's some beautiful blades out there with terrible handles from other youtube channels that drive me nuts when they slap on 2 scales and barely put any thought into the finishing aspect or shaping to fit an actual hand.
I have to say, this is by far the most gorgeous knife that I have ever seen. The profile of the blade, the contrast between the blade and handle, and the pattern of the damascus steel is all incredible! The amount of care and detail that went into not only making the knife, but also planning it out is astounding. And seeing this blade come to life from a couple metal billets has made this video all the more satisfying. Keep up the amazing work!
My goodness that is one of the most jaw dropping pieces I’ve ever seen. You are a world class artist - not just a knife maker.
That is an incredibly beautiful knife. The amount of work you did is mind blowing. The detail work with the file is spectacular. Fantastic job!!!
I'm just so amazed by your skill and your willingness to share your process. I think that if you had lived in olden times they would have burnt you at the stake for producing objects of such unearthly beauty. Humans can be so ingenious and creative. If only we could focus our energies in positive ways like you Kyle.
Your documentation of your process is a gift to all of us hobbyist smiths. It’s a lot of hard-earned knowledge shared for free. Thank you.😊
To call him a skilled craftsman would be an understatement. He would fall into the metal artistry category with a bit of magic thrown in. What a beautiful blade.
Such an amazing piece of art and handcraft. Beautifully captured. Thanks for letting us join that journey!
Freaking STUNNiNG! What an amazing knife....a true one of a kind. Your father and many are truly proud of your work on this build. Well done!!!!!!
What a gorgeous knife! I always love seeing what new ideas you’ll come up with for your Damascus patterns.
My hats off to your Dad for your training as well as your attention to detail. I am a retired jeweler and appreciate your patience. True art !
This is one of the most beautiful knives I've ever seen. Excellent job! You are an amazing craftsman and I love your focus & attention to detail. 👍❤
I honestly havent been interested in knifes my whole life, but i been watching your vids for 2 hrs and its making me want to learn it. The outcome looks insane!
I don't know why you do not have millions of subscribers.. There is a lot of people missing out in some fine bladesmithing. I appreciate the content and thank you. I would love one day to possibly come to your shop and make a 2 day build.
Your work truly is magic to me man. The way you form and make the pattern is amazing and the knife is truly an work of art!
This is the most beautiful blade I have ever seen. You, sir, have magic in your hands.
This video is amazing. The skill and artwork to make this knife is absolutely mind boggling. The knife looks like a masterpiece. It's fantastic!!!
I don't think I've seen more precise and careful work. The best mosaic maker out there. I hope you get as much joy from your work as you provide for your audience.
OMG, Kyle! This is gorgeous pattern. You are a Zen Master. 😎
WOW Fit and finish are unmatched! You add complimenting details in ways that make it not too much, but still extraoreinary.
Always a pleasure watching you craft works of art Kyle, thank you for sharing brother! Cheers!
I am always in awe when I see you testing how solid is the blade after hours and hours of making gorgeous damascus pattern. Love this knife. Great Job!
Dude, Kyle...I am memorized by your work. Your videos are some of my favorite videos across the entire CZcams platform. My wife saw me watching one of your videos and now she's a huge fan. Now we both sit together and watch your unbelievably beautiful craftsmanship. Absolutely incredible blades that you've made. We really appreciate you, your craft, and your videos. Thanks a lot, Kyle!
You are definitely a true master of your craft. Your knife is unbelievable. I am looking forward watching all your future videos to see what other works of art you create.
Simply unbelievable, all these details, so beautiful, just beautiful. If I could afford it or even acquire it, this piece would go into the showcase. ♥
Your attention to details is remarkable. Also love the filing work and their symmetry on the spacers. Beautiful knife.
And the camera work is also great, good angles and shots always sharp, well filmed and put together, kudos as well
The quality of your videos has improved so much man. They are much more enjoyable to watch. As always, your work speaks for itself, truly gorgeous piece bud. Keep it up.
Hey thanks Dave
I love the videos and the narration, but that background music is so incredibly awful that had had to mute the video for almost half the time I was watching. Please choose something less terrible, or, better yet, no background music at all.
Not much more to say other then WOW! That knife is absolutely gorgeous man. Watching a master at work, that pattern is the coolest thing I have ever seen.
Your precision and CZcams video/audio presentation is refreshing and by far the best on knife forging there is out there. Well done brother.
Simply amazing!! Your brother has gotten so good at shooting your videos. My wife and I both agree it was not only awesome watching you but watching the video was so nice. Thank you both! HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
Awe thanks!! -Josh
By far the coolest Damascus I've ever seen!!!!!!!
Your stuff is art. I am an artist and I think your work belongs in an art exhibition. It is beautifully made and very high-end. As an artist, I am inspired by your work. Be well.
Possibly the most beautiful knife I’ve ever seen. Thanks for a great video of all of your processes as well! Wondering what price a knife like this goes for.
This is definitely my new favourite knife build! The attention to detail that you put into the build is truly amazing, everything from arranging the "W" to get the best match up I've ever seen to the file work on the spacers so that the pattern lines up perfectly. The care and planning, even doming the ends of the silver pin that "holds" the handle on before using the hammer to finish the rivet. That knife is a work of art. Thanks for sharing it with us 😊
Hey thanks
Absluteley stunning build! I legit get shivers up my neck watching your videos
I was truly mesmerised and hypnotize watching this. Just fabulous. Love from BANGLADESH 🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩
You are a true craftsman! I’ve seen Damascus blades in West Germany in 1975 and they were beautiful. Yours surpassed their blades easily.
I've had my mind blown with this as I never knew Damascus could have repeated patterns and just thought it has random patterns. These works of art by a master blade smith will be in museums and serious art collections hundreds of years from now. BRAVO Maestro 👋👋👋👋👋

in real non decorative knifes they are quite ramdom. you cant have damascus with such a controlled pattern. It is bullshit
Beautiful! Probably the best Damascus blade art I've seen yet! I couldn't imagine what the price tag is.
Hands down best looking blad I've ever seen
That is a magic item. Not one person can convince me otherwise. Incredible work!
The outcone is incredable! I would never be able to make such a masterpeice like this
you gotta start believe in yourself
You can with Knifemaker Plus!
I've been watching your videos for probably a couple of years now. I rarely comment but tonight I am compelled because I am going through my second serious battle with cancer, and your forging and knife making videos provide me with a level of calmness. It's very satisfying to watch you do such precise work, and it lessons my anxiety about future chemo treatments to just chill out and watch you work. I made a few knives many years ago just for fun, but never forged anything in my life.
Hey dopeymark sorry to hear about your situation. We will pray for strength and fortitude and a complete recovery for you. Give us a shout out at royerknifeworks@live.com for more updates. Hang in there my friend. We are in your corner.

In this world of disposable plastic everything, it’s heartening to see that there are still a handful of Master Craftsmen like yourself out there. Amazing work. 👍
Hey thanks
@@KyleRoyerKnives just curious, I don't know anything and it's completely gorgeous, but can you explain to me why you wanted the pattern distorted somewhat down the length of the blade? Why did you forge it into a knife shape at all instead of just grinding it down to that shape and keeping the pattern completely steady?
❤😂🎉😢😮😅😊
Man hats off 👏, no words to describe but thank you.
It is truly therapeutic to watch a real Craftsman give artistic expression to his passion, thanks and WOW....
👍 😊😮
Your attention to detail and the precision of your fit and finish is remarkable. Well done!

If you keep doing these sorts of builds, its going to be almost impossible to make another knife of a similar design which is more impressive. Your work really is amazing and as much as I would like to see more videos from you more regularly, I really do appreciate the time and effort you put into making your builds so exquisite. I hope one day I have the skill and patience to build anything even a fraction of the quality that you build, you really are a master. Thank you for showing what is possible.
Also, new mic? It sounds a bit clearer and with a bit more depth.
Watching all the forging videos is entertaining, but I really like how you explain what you're doing and why. Awesom knife!!
Thank you for your comment and commentary...very instructional. ❤
I'm not a fan of Damascus usually but that pattern is stunning. The whole knife is a stunning work of art. I would pay good money for a knife like that.
Beautiful job.
I love your combination of forging the knife followed by finishing it with precision machines, like putting the final bevel on with a lapping disc and grinding both sides of the tang flat and parallel with the surface grinder and finishing the guard slot on the mill. As well as putting a convex bevel on it as opposed to just a straight bevel, which is quite a bit harder to do but is amazing if done well.
Your end result isn't just a knife that looks amazing but also one that is of very high quality in terms of being well heat treated, very functional, precise and accurate and well executed down to every detail.
It's my first time finding your channel and I'm definitely subbing.
The ONLY thing i would say is i preferred the look straight after the acid etch and before the coffee finish. I liked the shinier and brighter finish personally. But regardless it is still magnificent looking after the coffee darkening too!
Incroyable travail . Je n'ai jamais vu un tel travail aussi méticuleux et une réalisation aussi parfaite !!!!!! BRAVO

Many years ago, I had someone like you create a knife for me to take back to Japan to my father-in-law. He was Samurai. The blade took seven weeks to develop, and I brought the knife on board the plane, where it sat with the Captain until I debarked and made it through customs. Your creation would have been an honor for him to hold. Great job! If you ever look up Japanese blades/knives I would like to see what you create. I am anxiously waiting to see.
the guys in japan would throw this knife in the video in a trash can, because you can not and should not cut damascus so many times , destroying the benefits only to achieve a pattern
Thanks for explaining things so thoroughly. Great stuff!
