This looks like a great device for basic messaging and reading while travelling. Thanks for sharing this excellent video!
Thanks Matteo, you the man!
Solid first look. Great POV Jason!
Thank you! If you could have seen me recording the video, you'd laugh at how not ergonomic the setup was! haha my shoulders hurt just thinking about it. But I loved how it turned out!
Great Video, It is just nice seeing interesting form factors!
Totally agree, I like these alternate universes!
This is so cute. I'll look forward on buying this one for I usually use my documents for most of my readings in my mobile phone. Just wow!
Ideal for docs reading!
@@Techsploder yessssss most of our lessons comes in pdf files, and i have difficulties reading it on my phone screen
Thanks Jason - nice to have discovered this new channel {subscribed}
GREAT to have you here!!!
I also saw on another video that pictures and videos you take with the camera actually turn out in colour on the receiving side, very handy.. Nice review Jason
I should hope so! Have to test that. But really, I'm not using this camera for much more than maybe doc scanning or OCR. I doubt its a high quality image.
@YellowgoldStudios hehehe, agree, i doubt it
Just the right amount of ASMR
haha yeah Didn't want to overdo it!
From what I read, the main reason for the camera is to scan documents for OCR. That refresh rate is pretty stunning for an eInk display as well. Nice. Thanks for the great review. New subscriber for you!
Yeah I figured that out after I stopped recording that unboxing about the camera. Yeah, it's a pretty neat device! Curious to check out more of their hardware. Thanks for the subscribe! Good to have you here.
Ooohhh are you doing your own music? Digging it. Great review
I *AM*... But the music in this video is from another Artist.
@@Techsplodernice choice for the video
Great video!!
Thank you Tom!
Great review, thank you! Let’s say I like the idea of the Boox but am not ready for the Palma (because I want to highlight and annotate a bit more, with a pen, and want a larger screen). Which device would you suggest? I don’t think I want color, but I’m intrigued by the 7.8-inch format. Thank you!
You bet, thanks for watching! It's a cool and different device, and it certainly has some upgrades that would make a gen 2 even better.
Thanks Jason
Thanks for the watch!
I've been watching since you were the new kid on Buzz Out Loud, I'm always a fan of knowledgable commentary, especially when presented without over the top effects or drama.@@Techsploder
Right on! Thanks for sticking with me all these years later!
Use case - Reading with the Palma in my left hand while giving tummy scritches to my dwarf cat Tyrion with my right.
Now that's legit! 🐱
I can’t wait to get one do you think it would be able to handle 1TB ik crazy but I’m going crazy with the books
That's a great question! I wish I had a 1TB MicroSD card to test that with!
This looks really cool and will serve a purpose for someone that needs it (that's the beauty of android). Though, why would they put a camera on it?
I didn't realize while I was recording the first look but the camera is specifically for OCR and document scanning!
@@Techsploder Ahh that makes sense!
Intriguing. Installing an RSS reader on this device could be cool.
Oooh yeah great idea!
I notice that Google Play says "Welcome to Wear OS", so maybe Play thinks the device is a watch?
So its interesting. Now when I go to the Play Store on the device, I don't get those large icon lists, it all looks standard for a smartphone interface. I can't explain why its different now vs then. Very bizarre.
Hello, is it possible to write on it?
No way to write it on, outside of installing an app perhaps. No stylus either.
I quite like the look of that but i do think it's too small
Yeah I mean, it's obviously not the size of a book... But we spend so much time on the smartphone form factor, this is like a smartphone but MEANT for book reading. Could be a niche audience, but interesting nonetheless.
They have other devices that are larger.
Like the Onyx Boox Page 2, at 7 inches.
Could I use google voice and treat it like a phone?
Adding this to my list for the review!
Honestly wish it was a phone
Makes ya realize that maybe there IS room for an e-ink phone. I doubt it would be likely adopted, but SOMEONE wants one!
The screencast funtion died on me.😢
Oh really? Like, it worked for a while and then it stopped?? That's strange.
Android 11 - old technology - skip this obsolete slab - Android 15 is coming out in a few months now
I do wish that fringe devices like these would opt for a more current version.
I don’t know anything
I don't believe you! :)
