THIS WAS THE BEST RESOURCEFUL VIDEO ON POOL VACUUMING, EVER!
This has saved my butt this pool season, my pool has never been cleaner. When you have a pump like these no need in spending hundreds of dollars
Great video, really clear and sharp visually. Good idea. Your videos are great.
Awesome pool hack and Chase was correct, satisfying to watch. Great video, thanks for sharing.
He loves hearing his voice lol
I hadnt known the logic of pool vacuum cleaner, this is really useful way to clean a pool. thanks!
I love it, it’s the only way I clean it now 👍🏼
Great video straight to the point !!!
Absolutely brilliant!
Cheap and works perfectly 👍
This is GENIUS thank you so much I'm going to use the links you provided on Amazon!
It’s so simple but works so good 👍🏼
@Life Less Ordinary it looks like it I just broke my vacuum head this morning too so I'm glad I found this video lol
Lol perfect timing
Great idea! Thank you for sharing! Cheers from North Texas! 🙏🏼🤙🏼
And, I just subscribed! 🤙🏼
I appreciate the nice comment 👍
Hadn’t thought to use a house vacuum attachment, duh! Thanks! If you don’t have a waste setting on your filter and/or a pool hose for this setup, the super budget version is to use a garden hose, fill it with water and get all the air out of the hose, and then toss the other end of the hose down the hill from the pool to create a siphon. It’s a bit fussier than this, but it works in a pinch!
Absolutely 👍🏼
Genius idea. Thanks for the help 👍
You are very welcome
Great tips thank you
Really like your videos I have the same pool when I vacuum to waste I have small algae for some reason is getting back into the pool I think it's going into the sand filter but not have to waste
Hmmmm very odd because when your on waste nothing should be going back into the pool. Possibly a malfunction with the filter? And thank you for the compliment
GENIUS!!!
Great job!!
Thank you 🙏🏼
I found this satisfying 😆
Lol
Bravo!!
Looks like they enjoy the pool
This pool was the best money I’ve ever spent 👍🏼. And thankfully I built the deck right before the price hike
Nice JOB!!! You just saved me the hassle of hooking up my Polaris Turtle, that seems to putter out after 30 mins! Doing this today!! I also have had my Intex pool (3rd season for me as well) My question is: Do I need to disconnect my Skimmer ( I have the same one) and plug that Inlet?
I would yes, you get better suction by covering one inlet 👍🏼
It slows down after thirty minutes Bc:
1. The screen on the wall outlet is dirty and needs cleaner.
2. You have a sand filter and it's getting old, needing you to backwash more often (or change the sand.)
3. The piston inside the Polaris or another part of guts inside cleaner needs repaired
Best video I've ever seen
I appreciate that comment, thank you for watching
I don't have a waste setting on my sand pump. I only have rinse, backwash, filter and winterize. Do you have a suggestion which to use? BTW I love your channel. Thank you so much for being here. You have helped me so much with our above ground pool.
I really appreciate your kind comment. Without the waist option you really can’t suck it up and push it out of the pool. My only suggestion is what I used to do was take a garden hose and do a siphon it took a lot longer but it was the only way to get the tiny stuff off the bottom.
@@LifeLessOrdinary I followed the link you posted to your pump and I didn't see a waste option. could dit be back wash or rinse?
That pump should have filter, rinse, backwash, waste, closed and recirculating unless the newer models have changed
What kind of sand pump do you use?
So I have a cartridge filter what idea do you have for that
My wife made the mistake of buying a Bestway pool with the tiniest of cartridge filter pumps. no vacuum on earth will work with the small pump (even the bestway branded vacuum with the adapter with the inlet hose). So Ive had to resort using the siphon route with the vacuum/hose combo where you push out all the air to the hose and toss the hose outside of the pool to create its own vaccum effect.
Yes, unfortunately those cartridge filters are not very good. Whenever you get a chance to upgrade, I would definitely go for a Sand Filter.
I need that vacuum head !
I love it
I just bought an Intex pool and I'm really enjoying your videos! However, I do want to point out that the pool is the reference point for in/out, not the pump. Your INlets return water back to the pool, and your suction OUTlets draw water out of the pool. I worked as an engineer for a commercial pool builder for about 10 years.
Keep up the great work and presentation.
then you were a shitty engineer, the inlets suck the water in, the outlets is where the water comes out, period, anyone who says otherwise doesn't have a clue what the fuck they're talking about, i feel sorry for anyone who had their pool done by you
Excellent !
Love the pool pump setup.....just put up my intex pool and the pump it came with is not the best. What's the name of your sand filter pump??? Thanks in advance
I love it amzn.to/3crGJWY
Where are you from? Do you have to winterize your pool? I’ve had mine for a few months and winter is coming. Would love to know if you keep your pool as is or drain or take it away to storage
I leave the pool and winterize it 👍 I have a video on it in my list
Nice job Sir. Thank you
Thanks for sharing man.
Thank you 👍🏼
Mine has the white grate looking intake. How did you change them so you stick the part in for the vacuum? I bought everything u have for the vacuum but I can't connect to intake because I have the white grate connection.
Does the grate come out of the inlet?
Do you connect the hose to the drain outlet on the pump?
Thanks!
I connect my hose to the inlet that takes water to the pump. What type of filter pump are you using ?
We are just up our 18 by 9 by 52". I LOVE this idea, but I am wondering... what is the hose going out to the grass? Where does that come from? Do I have to buy that separate? Because the videos I've seen on backwashing (where the filter is set to waste) pumps the water right out of the filter. But, you say you have a hose. So do I need to buy an extra hose?
Yeah I bought that separate, they make a waste hose which I will get added in the description now that you asked the question. Great comment 👍🏼
It’s added 👍🏼
I bought the rubber waste hose and I can’t seem to connect it to the outlet that says D for backwash. Is there an easier way to connect it it does not stretch over it and it is a 2 inch.
@user-yh6mz9sp5y make sure they sent you a 2” hose. I’ve had a comment in the past that Amazon sent them the wrong size. The 1.5” is too small.
How does it work with lot of leaves and looks like moss from a tree?
How did you insert the adapter into the pump inlet port when it has a screen behind the screw on cover ??? Please help
My pool those plastic debris covers come out of my lntels. Just pull them out
Do you get air in the system by starting with1.25” inlet and jumping up to 2”?
Nope never had ants issues
i only have the filter pump that came with pool model C530 doesnt have waste.is there another alternative?🤔
A lot of times I just do a syphon with a hose thrown over the side of the pool.
I’m new to this pool stuff! When I’m vacuuming my above ground pool and I hook my vacuum hose to one of the dual inlets and I cover my second inlet with the black cap, my pump pressure goes to zero and there is little water coming out of the return. Is this ok? I’m a bit worried it will mess my pump up, but I need to close off that second inlet to get enough suction power to vacuum.
Btw, I have an intex above ground pool 20x48 with a sand filter pump. I also prefer to vacuum on filter.
Not sure why it Boggs it down like that make sure you do a good backwash before you start. If I don’t have much to clean I will use filter but if I have lots of dirt to get off the bottom I vacuum on waste
@@LifeLessOrdinary maybe I’m not priming the vacuum hose all the way? Would that cause my pump to loose pressure? I noticed that I loose all or some of the water in the pre filter when this happens.
This is exactly what I have going on.. Bought everything you asked me to lol - her same exact pool and situation - in worried I could damage my pump!!! Agree or over thinking it?- going to backwash and see if that makes a difference.. Please respond I know this video is old!! Eeekk- single gal worried about busting her pump!
Hey Katie, are you putting it on waste when you try to vacuum?
I just put up a 18x9x52 Intex pool. Do you think this vacuum would be good for me? Thanks
This homemade type vacuum would be great for any size pool yes 👍🏼
Do you have to set the filter to waste? Could you not send the sort through the filter? I guess you just need to clean the filter after. I use the filter balls?
I have used filter setting before. It really depends on what you are vacuuming. If it’s like sand and dirt, that is very fine you might want to go to waste, but if it’s larger debris, like bugs and stuff, you could go to Filter. 👍🏼
Do you leave it up over winter? Does it freeze there?
I do leave it up and yes it’s gets very cold here. I’ll be putting up a closing video probably tomorrow evening
Don't the skimmer you have on the pump hold some of the trash......i used the same idea but i put a metal screen from the sinks in the inlet to stop the big debris from getting to the pump because my pump don't have a skimmer.....i have a skimmer i added to the pool
I am using this to vacuum the bottom of the pool and there is a lot of sand. I am using the filter function. Can I damage the pump like this?
As long as you don’t suck up large amounts of sand I bet you will be ok
What about those of us that have a cartridge filter pump? How would we use something like this?
With an aboveground pool, f you have a hose long enough to lead all the way outside the pool, then after you fill the hose with water, just toss it onto the ground outside the pool so that the end is a little lower than the floor of the pool. It will start siphoning water out onto the ground. No pump needed!
Wouldn't the hard plastic of the vacuum tear your pool liner ?
Not at all, mine is smooth. If you try it make sure there’s a smooth edge on it. 👍🏼
Stupid question but the sand pump is running on waste rite..??? If so whydoes the waste pipe look like it’s slowing chucking water out please??
Because the hose is bigger than the glow of the water. But yes it’s on waste 👍🏼
What option in the pump should I select(waste, filter)?
If you’re just cleaning out some minor debris you can use filter if you want. but if you have a lot of dirt and junk that you want out of the pool, you need to use waste. So it bypasses the filter and goes directly out of the pool.
Thank you Covid and chlorine explosion!! Lol
Will this work on a inground pool with lots of leaves
Personally, I would not try to suck up a bunch of leaves with the waste option. If it’s too much, it could hurt the pump. I would try to net as many of the large leaves out first and then if you have small debris left then use this idea.
2:53 if you look at the hose cuff on the vacuum hose. It has that seam on it. That's bc that hose cuff can swivel. To prevent.the vacuum head from tangling up the hose when you vacuum. If you put the swivel end on the suction said, you will not get that great of a siphon.
You need to put the swivel end of your hose on the device you're vacuuming with not on the wall port. Your vacuum suction will Increase significantly.
Also, the vacuum hose cost more than a vacuum head and pole together. So if you're doing this, why not buy the other two items to do it properly and not rip the vinyl from the plastic rubbing on it over and over again
This is video on a DIY homemade vacuum not a store bought. I’ve been using it for 2 straight years now and have had zero issues with it hurting the vinyl. Thank you for the comment 👍🏼
@@LifeLessOrdinary I only brought it up bc vacuum hoses cost more than the price of a vacuum head. And that is not an at home, diy product, you had to purchase it, online or in a store.
Also, that's good you haven't torn the vinyl, that means you aren't pressing down on the pool bottom too aggressively.
Also, you should still rotate which end of the vacuum hose goes to which location. Your suction should increase if you do so.
What if I don't have waste setting
While you vacuum, do you have your pump on or just let the flow of the water go to waste
No the pump needs to be on for good suction
Where do i get this white inserts to vacume pool
amzn.to/46K2n0r
where did you buy the two white pieces????
amzn.to/44yThBN
Here’s a question, I haven’t done my pvc conversion yet on my intex pool, will those hose adapters still work on the original setup? I’m guessing the adapter just sticks into the vinyl?
Correct it fits into the inlet hole 👍🏼 I just installed a new pool and I’ll be making a new video on replumbing this new pool.
@@LifeLessOrdinary sounds good! I’ll have to give it a try! I keep using the robots to stir the silt up so the filter can get it, but it’s an over and over again process 😂
@huntershortrepairs it can be a pain lol, let me know how it works for you
@@LifeLessOrdinary I sure will! I went with that vevor pump and filter system you reviewed a couple years ago and the lateral assembly failed in the filter after 8 months, was a pain to get them to send the replacement parts but they finally shipped it out, coming straight from china in 4 days
@huntershortrepairs what a bummer I hate to hear that. Mind did great all season thankfully. I just installed a new pool for this season so I’m using the new pump and keeping my Vevor in storage as a back up.
I only have backwash it waste. Can I still do this?
It won’t work on backwash very well if you don’t have waste. Your better trying on filter and backwashing a few times in between
Where did you find the plastic adapter?
Any shop vac, like he said
You can find the pieces on Amazon or any shop vac or older vacuum
Hi, can I connect it to my Skimmer
Depending on the type of skimmer you have yes.
On what option do you put your filter? I see is throwing the water out.
It’s the waste option, but it’s only on a sand filter not on a cartridge filter
@@LifeLessOrdinary I don't see that option on mine and I do have a sand filter is that backwash the same?
Email me a picture of the top of your pump dirtpooroutdoors16@gmail.com
We have a 18ft summerwaves with sand filter. When I was going up we had an above ground pool. We always vacuum in the filter position and I still do. If the return pressure drops off you need to backwash. I know there Is a gauge but mine never goes out off the green and I can see a drop in pressure on the return side. I only need to backwash every 2 weeks and it uses less water than vacuuming in waste. Just my 2 cents is all.
Absolutely if I didn’t have a strong well like I do I would also be vacuuming on filter. 👍 sometimes I still do if there’s not much vacuuming needed
What the adapter pieces calle
Here you go

Do you turn the pool back wash or regular turn on?
I’m sorry I’m not sure I understand your question
@@LifeLessOrdinary the mode, waste or back wash
@Nisalie “waste” 👍🏼 that will kick the stuff out of the pool instead of running it through the filter
@@LifeLessOrdinary oh ok thank you very much!

@@LifeLessOrdinary ty
Do u need to turn on the pump or off to waste .
I turn mine to waste so all the trash goes right out of the pump
@@LifeLessOrdinary on and waste or off and waste
Put it on waste and turn the pump on. Once you finish cleaning, turn pump off then do a backwash.
@@LifeLessOrdinary when u put it to waste do you have the outlet closed as well going back into the pool
No you don’t have to it will run it outside the pool no matter what
how many time i have to vavuum the pool?
As much as needed. I do once a week but every pool is different
My pump only has backwash...is that the same as waste?
What kind of pump are you using. And no waste pulls water without forcing it through the filter, backwash pulls it through the filter.
Same concept here i have a Hayward vl40t32 sand pump ....no waste setting don't know what to do any ideas
Only other option is to create a siphon over the side of the pool with a hose then suck out debris
Maybe I missing something. This isn’t necessarily the cheapest method for cleaning the pool. The waste setting discharges water therefore, every time you vacuum, you have to refill your pool. Water = $$$$
Waste setting discharges or you keep recycling the micro debris in the pool. This method works best for me, but like everything might not be best for others
I tried this today, plugged one inlet, connected hose to other, turned pump to WASTE, there was not enough suction to do anything, please help
What type of pump do you have? How old is it?
It’s the INTEX 18”x52” XL series about 3 months old. Sand filter SX 2100, that came with the pool.
Something must be wrong with your pump if you’re not getting much suction with only one inlet open. Do you have any blockage inside the first basket with the clear round lid?
@@LifeLessOrdinary I’ll check but maybe can’t check today, we got Cancun hurricane storms today.
@jbow8213 ok when you do pull out that basket, debris can be hidden in the hole that runs to the sand filter
please help, the suction on my pool will not function when i turn the pump to waste. What am i doing wrong??
What sand filter do you have ?
@@LifeLessOrdinary 10 in intex sand filter
@fmesha the 10” only pushes 1500 gph but should still give you suction. Do you have two intel ports? And are you covering one of them? Also make sure you baskwash before you do it, it will increase your suction.
@@LifeLessOrdinary I will try back washing some more. I just used flocculant on Tuesday and have not backwashed since then. One suction is covered. The not covered suction works for all required settings except for Waste. Am I doing Waste wrong? Should I be plugging the air flow too?
Had pool on recirculate for 2 hours only after adding flocculant yesterday.
Could use that entire system without a pump and gravity alone…
Lower the discharge the more the suction..
Just saying… otherwise good job
Not sure if it will have the same section but you can try it
1 thing i found out in the past 2 days ........ the vacuum i have That 💩 doesn't work 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Owner of The Pool From HELLLLL
I was done spending lots of money, this has worked amazingly all summer 👍
