    I have one of these which was my father's since new. I use it now on my Oly OMD. In micro 4/3, it's 200mm equivalent giving a good working distance and the equivalent of 1:1 magnification. The lens renders beautifully, especially the out of focus areas are smooth and creamy.

      Thank you! I’m glad you are enjoying the channel. To be honest I’ve never used Canon cameras for the reason you mentioned - they have very short flange focal distance which makes it problematic when adapting some old lenses. So unfortunately I can’t really advise you what Takumar lenses will make sense with the 5D2. You’ll have to find someone who adapts Takumars to Canon and see if they had any issues. Good luck.

    Does an 1:2 FF Macro on APS-C in practis becomes 1:1.5?

    • @VintageOptiks
      @VintageOptiks  Před 3 měsíci

      If you are using a Full Frame 1:2 macro lens on an APSC sensor the magnification that the lens provides is still the same, however the image will be cropped due to the nature of the smaller sensor. So you are not getting more magnification from the lens since it’s still the same 1:2 macro that you are using. You are simply looking at a cropped ( smaller section ) of that same image which gives the illusion of higher magnification.
      I hope that makes sense.

    • @VintageOptiks
      @VintageOptiks  Před 3 lety +1

      Wond3r Gurll Yes it will, but you’ll need to get an adapter for it. Also the crop sensor will give you an image equivalent to a 127.5mm lens.

      @VintageOptiks  Před 3 lety +1

      @@paulinap-k8409 That all the depends on the lens you are using. Each lens has a minimum focusing distance - which is the closest distance that you can be to your subject and still get images that are in focus. So you’ll have to see what the closest focusing distance is on the lens you are using and that will be your guide for how close you can get.

    True Macro is 1:1 - this is not a macro lens. It's a close focus lens.

    • @VintageOptiks
      @VintageOptiks  Před 3 lety +1

      In the description I wrote that this is a macro lens, not a "true macro" lens. This lens gives you 1:2 or half life size magnification, and just because it doesn't give you 1:1 or life size magnification doesn't mean that it's not a macro lens. There is no rule or law that says that only 1:1 lenses can be labeled macro lenses. Pentax obviously labeled it MACRO and therefore I describe it as a macro lens.

    • @bradl2636
      @bradl2636 Před 3 lety

      @@VintageOptiks Actually the classical and commonly used definition of a macro lens is a lens that focuses from infinity to at least a 1:1 reproduction ratio. But manufacturers certainly use some latitude with the term for marketing purposes. It’s a great lens for sure just not strictly a macro lens.
