I’m a reservist, my MT Staff Sergeant’s great grandfather served with the Irish volunteers in the GPO in Dublin 1916. I’ve just come off deployment with the UN, a lad in my platoon is from Dublin. Another in my unit is from County Kerry. When I was in basic we had numerous Northern and Republic of Ireland recruits. We were ordered to call them ‘Paddy’.

There is also a reason the oldest recorded record of Irish writing was found in south Wales, cause of the Irish coming over and forming a kingdom that lastest many many years.
