Hey all-
I wrote "1970" a few years ago after witnessing firsthand what dementia, Alzheimers, and other forms of memory loss can do to a person and their family. It's a terrible disease, and this song attempts to capture what it must feel like to be unstuck in time, waiting for things that have already happened, talking to people who have long since passed.
On a brighter note, Toni and I were thrilled to be asked to play this song along with a few others at McCabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Monica after-hours for a session that will eventually be included in their holiday livestream. Though all the chairs in front of us were empty, it did feel great to be playing music in a public space again. I can't wait until the day comes when people can sit in those chairs again though. :)

Lyrics to "1970":
I got a telephone, it never rings
I’m just making calls to memories
oh-oh
but on my better days I know
the last years have cost me dearly
Been smoking cigarettes
about a pack a day
just waiting for my lover
to come back to me
oh-oh
in my checkered dress I know
it’s been a long time since 1970
Pretty baby
the kitchen light is on
and I’m dancing to our favorite song
I’ve been waiting, and I hope it won’t be long now
Don’t know where I am
Or who put me here
But by a trick of light
I’m in my Oldsmobile
so-oh
you see my good days are the worst days
‘cause I’m alive there in 1970
Pretty baby
they got the TVs on
and I’m watching reruns all night long
I’m still waiting
but I fear there’s something wrong
They took my telephone
but I still hear it ring
I’m getting calls from infinity
oh-oh
I know
it’s just static but I’m listening - Hudba
These girls and their friends should be spotlighted on main stream TV . The whole world needs the opportunity to see their talent
little things like Sundays with Reina del cid improve my life
Two people with great spirit and sincere hearts.❤
I can listen to these girls all day long. They just warm the heart of old farts like me. So much beauty, so much professionalism with so little requisite. Just THE REAL THING! Carry on please!
Right? It's the real thing. They should be a sensation. I was lucky enough to see a live show right before everything went askew. Astonishing. And I have seen decades of live music. Hopefully LA will make their dreams, whatever dreams may be, come true!
The younger generation are not familiar with the songs they sing. They don't seem to see the pure hard earned talent these girls have. I am 72 and doing just fine. I keep my eyes open to what really works in keeping people healthy. It is not the medical mafia system. I call them that with very good reason.

Hi Reina and Toni, I've recently been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimers syndrome. I'm hoping I can keep coming back to your song to realize I'm not alone.
Wishing you all the best. Be strong.
I've lost two family members to it Dave. That's a very hard diagnosis to bear. It's not easy. Embrace every friend and family member you can. Don't ever go through this alone. Find love everywhere and savor every moment. Be strong.
Blessings.🙏
Hey brother, You can save this song and not lose it. If you are logged in to CZcams, up there under the video is the Like button, share, and +save. Click the + save.

...einfach tolle Musik von zwei tollen Frauen
This girl is one gifted songwriter!
This song tugs at the heart.
Prob the best version of this song. ❤❤❤
My brother died from this . I was very close to him. But I loved him so much. His smile, he was My closest friend. I miss him. Thank you. I love ya'll voice and guitar. Very deep and wonderful
Outstanding example, that songwriting means much more then "annother two lovesongs". Great song, that hits me in a very personal way!
My mother, who suffered from dementia in her last few months, as a result of “mini-strokes”, was Annie McCabe. She would have liked that you were playing this at McCabe’s. Thanks.
brilliant song, it's been stuck in my head for a week. HBD 5-26-1970 ;-)
63YO male here. Now THAT was melancholy.
In 1970 I was 9 years old. Some lines in this song have some meaning to me other I hope never do
I get goosebumps every time I hear 1970.
Ahhh...they are so wonderful, both of them.
I‘m deeply touched by this song and your warm empathic voice Reina. Thank you Reina and Toni for your music I often listen to 🙏🏻 😘😘
My Father has Alzheimer since 2016, this song has really touched me. God bless you all
great performance, one of my favorite songs....
It seems as if appreciation for music is last to go.
I love listening to the two of playing and singing together.
VERY BEAUTIFUL!!!🌹🌹DULCE MELODIA!!!❤
Besides the good song and singing, I love the arrangement between the guitars.
I believe the day will come when the chairs are full again. Maybe I will be in one of those chairs softly singing right along.
My hero... I never get tired of this Queen
So true and such wonderful music. Left me speechless.
This is pure gold.
Beautiful. I can't wait for the day when McCabe's can host artists playing to a room filled with people instead of empty chairs.
Thanks,I appreciate the 70s.if you wrote that song you are an old soul like me, if not your empathy is there. Happy Sunday
The singing pair hav'n't been living during the 70 ies ... I could almost cry for this time ... " As I was so much younger than before " ( according to Bob Dylan, 1963 ... ) very fine song, thank you so much for sharing!
Well, that was a way to mellow out my afternoon. Miss you, Mom.
My thanks for all the smiles and sweet tears you bring.you two are magic string swingers!
Hi from England, a poignant song girls, I'm 74, no one calls, but I play my guitars and my late wife told me I must carry on singing, so that's what I do. Thank you for your music.
Awesome as always Reina and Toni in this amazingly touching song and beautiful performance!!!!!!
Wonderful and powerful. Thank you Reina and Toni
You guys are .....amazing... never stop doing what you do..... ever.
What a talented pair you are......and clearly aware that life isn't always easy. Total respect.
Lost my Momma to this terrible affliction, Love to every family caring for loved ones!
I appreciate this song. I stayed with my grandmother when I was a kid in the 1970’s and she had Alzheimer’s. Every once in a while she had great clarity and I just remember not wanting to miss those times with her. Thank you. 🙏
My grandmother passed away from Alzheimer’s when I was young. It was really hard on my mom. Thank you for this song Reina.
In love with this song!
I have it. I can feel it slowly slowly creeping. Runs in my family. I know one day I won’t know who you are, who I am. But for now this song is sweet and good girls, thank you both.
❤️❤️
You two never cease to surprise us with your immense library of music. fIRST TIME HEARING THIS SONG. tHANKS.
Touches all families sooner or later. Heartbreaking to go through.
Oh dear I think my heart just cracked in to two parts. I hope they find each other again. If not I think I've got some glue somewhere two help the two parts of my heart meet again someday.
The sad beauty of the song in perfect resonance with the singing and playing.
McCabe's is my favorite music shop to find great written music and other gems. Nice performance!
Ah Reina, You have made me cry before. I thought I had grown familiar enough with your music to be immune from its effects.
Well, no I was wrong.
Here we go again.
Me too!
@@davidlang1125 One day I will get to hear her play live. Could be awhile. Australia
Great Song. Life is only so long. My Gram went back to her childhood. Where innocence lives. Gods Grace.
I just can't understand why anyone would thumb's down this track. It's beautiful..x
Poignant. Real. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing your light.
wow. this is truly moving!! 😪 beautiful expression of this affliction suffered by so many
Wonderful song. Dementia is a terrible disease. My father was a pilot who flew all over the world. He struggled with a bathroom door lock before he passed. It’s terrible to witness that progression.
Well it just isn't Sunday without your music. Nice one from McCabes. The song gives me understanding that can only happen from awareness. On a thankful weekend, thanks.
Going through something like this with a relative now. Beautiful song, beautifully played, thank you 🙏
Love you guys ! My Mom died of Alzheimer's in 2018 . It is a terrible disease. I pray one day it can be stopped in it's tracks.
Rheina del Sid, my top artist on Spotify #2020WRAPPED.
Thank you for your music. Greetings from Finland.
Damn girls.... if you don’t stop making me cry on Sunday mornings... thank you...
Whats not to like?
The guitar playing is exquisite, the singing is superb and the song is just glorious.!😍
Memories are our most important possession. I remember 1970 well...serving in the military. Great song.
Beautiful singing and playing.
OMG, I loved McCabes! Saw Kenny Rankin play there several times! Sad song but poignant.
Wow, beautiful! Don't know how this slipped through and I'm just seeing this today. It hits home big time for me. My grandfather (dad's dad) died from Alzheimer's and now my uncle (dad's brother) is going from dementia. I hate it especially since I'm 46 and know what could be lurking right around the corner for me.
I have watched the full band version video of this song on your You Tube site and loved the song. I have just come across this video and am absolutely blown away by it. The simplicity of the performance makes the song more poignant and intimate, in fact beautiful comes to mind. Thankyou .
What a beautiful song! ❤
Beautiful. Love the 000-15.
This is the best of what the past was, the best of what the future holds, and it's right now!
Ik geniet elke keer weer van jullie liedjes. Prachtig gezongen en gespeeld. Bedankt
That was truly beautiful and poignant. Thank you.
Fantastic song, beautiful!
Beautiful Thanks....
A great song with haunting memories 👍✌️😊🙏🏼🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎶🎶🎵
I like the full band version of this song but somehow this acoustic one with just Rachelle and Toni makes it more poignant and delivers what I am sure was being felt when the song was written. A very moving performance. Well done ladies.
I dont hear applause : so i send my applause !!!
Well done a beautiful song. Tears running down my face.
Hey ladies, sorry I’ve only just listened to this song but what a find. Pure class, and a beautiful message in the song 🙏👍
Wow! Fantastic!
This is possibly the most emotional I've seen you in one of your videos.
My Sunday is complete 😘 just lovely.
My dad had to move into a memory care facility last year. Dementia is very difficult. I hope that you or Toni don't have a personal experience with this that inspired this song. Take care.
MC CABE'S!
That's local for me. Please come back when concerts can resume. I will be there.
Wow! So powerful! Thank you! Thank you!
One of your best yet. Instrumentation and gentle harmonies. Beautiful.
Thank you! Being a caregiver for my wife (61) with Alzheimers for years. It's hard at times, but this gives some comfort 😘 I have it on repeat playing now.
yes, it means something to me. this something is my mother. thanks reina and toni.
Two thumbs up my friends.
Great song, great singing, great guitars, great sound. Overall I think I like it!
Reina & Tony: This song strikes to my core. Both my parents died with Alzheimer's disease, and my mom also had Lewy Body dementia, so I have been preparing for my own. Was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's disease 11 years ago at age 57, and then reclassified as "Mild Cognitive Impairment" (MCI) now for 5 years. Had to quit my job as a veterinary pathologist, but as you can see here, can still string logical thoughts together though my executive functions are pretty shot. Still trying to support dementia in any way I can (Memory Cafe's, attendingZoom conferences, etc. Thank you both for this gift. - Jim
Really beautiful song! ❤
Thank you Reina and Toni for good guitar sound and harmony. These males me very fine.
you guys...man, you nailed it. So beautiful and touching.
THIS! I've been telling everyone I know about y'all. I've been pulling out my phone and showing them Bernadette, y'alls covers of Jambalaya, and Rocky Raccoon with Josh and Carson the Other Favorites. Now I've got this song to add to that list of songs to introduce your new fans to. Such a great and powerful song.
Wonderful again ladies, your talent never ceases to amaze. Thank you
Good song about Alzheimer's we don't know who has it or who has until we have it your memories are sacred and without your memories you're not who you are it's sad but thank you for this kindly song
I'm so glad i listened to this
God Bless You for this song. I have spent the last 17 years working at an Assisted Living Facility that includes folks in our "Memory Care Unit". This song touches so many things!
God Bless You...!
The year I started high school. 🙁 Thanks ladies.
Love this song ! Thank you
Beautiful timing, great vocals and touching song .It hurts when the person you’ve know for years , starts slipping away 😔 Best to tell them that you love them every chance you get , even when you know that there’s Littleton can do .
