  • On the Mount of Transfiguration, Jesus showed His closest disciples a sight they would never forget: the unveiled glory of the Son of God. In this sermon, R.C. Sproul continues his exposition of Luke’s gospel by describing one of the most marvelous moments in all history.
    This sermon was preached by R.C. Sproul at Saint Andrew's Chapel in Sanford, Fla. Hear more from his series in the gospel of Luke: • The Gospel of Luke: Se...

    Linking back to Moses at Mount Sinai in the Old Testament was a good point to make, and how Moses represented the Law with Elijah representing the Prophets.

      1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, (Jesus) justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

      What are you talking about, "you go preaching about a man"?
      I'm informing people that they are believing the words of a preacher who doesn't know what he's talking about. Is that what you consider worship, believing false teachings?
      If you trust the words of this false teacher you will probably have the same fate as him.

      He was one of many false preachers of Christendom preaching false doctrines to gullible people who don't care if it's true or not, they enjoy having their "ears tickled" with no obligation to change.
      None of those phonies have any chance of seeing Heaven, God doesn't accept liars.

    It is my belief that when the chariot of fire picked up Elijah beyond the Jordan the chariot took Moses also. The reason why is because God buried Moses in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth Peor. This was where the Ark of the Covenant had been and where the Isrælites were camping and then where Elijah had been walking. Beth Peor means "House of Opening" and the sons of the prophets believed that Elijah had been cast upon a mountain and yes he will be cast upon a mountain. So he was taken with Moses and met Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration which I believe to be Mount Hermon. It is a cumulation of God's glory. One more thing R. C. Sproul has seen and is seeing the Glory of God. He's there.

    • @truthbetold8610
      @truthbetold8610 Před rokem

      R C Sproul is wrong, he's a false Christian due to preaching incorrect beliefs.
      You are really stretching the Scriptures to the breaking point, speculating without a shred of evidence. What about just sticking to what the Scriptures actually say?
      Neither Moses nor Elijah went to Heaven, they are still in their graves to this day! Jesus testified to that at;
      (John 3:13) Moreover, NO MAN HAS ASCENDED INTO HEAVEN but the one who descended from heaven, the Son of man.
      To say anything different would be calling Jesus a liar, if he says NO ONE went to Heaven before Him then Moses, Elijah, Enoch and anyone who lived and died BEFORE Jesus is NOT in Heaven.
      At 2 Kings 2:11, 12 the prophet Elijah is described as “ascending in the windstorm to the heavens.” The heavens here referred to are the atmospheric heavens in which windstorms occur, not the spiritual heavens of God’s presence.
      Elijah does not die at this time, nor does he go into the invisible spirit realm, but he is transferred to another prophetic assignment.
      A number of years after his ascension in the windstorm Elijah is still alive and active as a prophet, this time to the king of Judah. Because of the wicked course taken by King Jehoram of Judah, Elijah writes him a letter expressing Jehovah’s condemnation, which is fulfilled shortly thereafter.-2Ch 21:12-15

      @@jessyjonas4988 It is a preview of Christ’s Kingdom glory. Thus the disciples saw “the Son of man coming in his Kingdom,” as Jesus had promised. (Matthew 16:28)
      While on the mountain, they were “eyewitnesses of his magnificence.” The transfiguration confirmed prophecies about the Kingdom and Peter would later write: “We have the prophetic word made more sure.”-2 Peter 1:16-19.

    Love RC Sproul, however I think that bc only Peter and James and John saw the transfiguration, some still tasted death before “seeing” the “kingdom of God”, so I think it’s still a viable position, which I personally take to, that it’s referring to the transfiguration.

    • @tc2851

      I think you are correct, this is the most logical and understandable explanation. Some did experience death before seeing the glory of God but Peter James and John saw this Glory in the transfiguration.

    18:52 Here’s my theory…Moses and Elijah time traveled to that moment. No hear me out….Moses when he went up the mountain and Elijah when he was taken up in the whirlwind. The Bible talks about spirits but not ghosts. I don’t think this was a postmortem event, I think the transfiguration happened when they were both alive just like Jesus on that mountain.

    He is wrong. He doesn't believe Jesus' words at Luke 9 refer to the Transfiguration but that is EXACTLY what he was referring to!
    (Luke 9:27) But I tell you truly, there are some of those standing here who will not taste death at all until first they see the Kingdom of God.”
    The vision is a preview of Christ’s Kingdom glory. The disciples saw, in effect, the “Son of man coming in his kingdom,” just as Jesus had promised a week earlier. After Jesus’ death, Peter wrote about having ‘become eyewitnesses of Christ’s magnificence while we were with him in the holy mountain.’

      This preacher has no idea what he's talking about, he is saying that 5 were eyewitnesses of the Transfiguration, he is including Moses and Elijah! The Scriptures plainly state the facts in Matthew's account:
      Jesus told his three apostles: “Tell the VISION to no one until the Son of man is raised up from the dead.” (Mt 17:9)
      Moses and Elijah were not PHYSICALLY there, they appeared in a VISION as if it were a hologram. This is one ignorant preacher that no one should put any trust in, he does not understand the Bible!
