  • So much confusion about the difference between 14 and 16 inch HS (High Speed) John Deere Moldboard plow bottoms. How to measure the plow frame and what to look for when seeking out replacement parts. 3 versus 4- bolt plow shares explained.

Like your videos, I found a 416-14" that had been in the fence row for over 30 years last summer, plow is in excellent shape for S.Ga and never been inside. New set of shares from JD parts and put it to work. The trips not even rusted up and the moldboards still have the little metal tags on them.

Thanks for your clips on these old plows. With your info I was able to disassemble and reassemble a #44 and turns out (yes-pun intended) it works. I'll be looking for more info on how to get axle shims and the clutch kit and other miscellaneous unicorns. Field day is today so wish us luck.

How does a guy identify the plow model number on a set of these old plows? I have a set of 3-14 JD plows very similar to yours, would like to get a positive ID on them?
