Emotional stress: You explained this very well. I'm cabin crew for seven years now and I still cannot always let go of passengers' rude behaviour. They don't take responsibility for their actions and I refuse to get involved in their rude/negative bubble. Anyway, it gets harder to handle when you're tired. Every cabin crew could be the best crew member and the most empathetic person if the companies don't overwork us. But alas... this is what it is.
I liked how you explained everything. You are likeable and has a jolly personality. if i were your colleague, i would love to be always flying with you... All the best in your new endeavor...
Love looove this video. Explained very well, not too long, straight to the point, very entertaining, not too serious, it was just like you were talking to your close friend. Thank you so much for this 😊
I've watched the 20+ minute videos. Both are informative. Would love to see if you can sum up years of your life in 20 minutes. If you can't handle 20 minute videos feel free to never watch TV shows ever again.
Apply with an American carrier, FAA mandated work rules They require you to refresh lipstick, report you if you don't, you sign 4 year contracts. Once you reach 28, they may or may not sign another but no old flight attendants allowed.
It can be a very sweet job in the US. Yes, passengers can be jerks but you find that anywhere in customer service. Emirates holds your visa, impossible to leave country without it If you get in legal trouble, you need govt. permission to leave.. In addition to being fired.
I felt that soooo hard when you said, sometimes its not even the passengers, sometimes its your colleagues. I counldnt agree more!! and yess, truly the stress as well.

I also left my airline due to all those reasons you mentioned and i can relate my self with you. Now I am doing what I love and living a happy life as I wanted to. God bless you sweetheart 😊 lots of love from Pakistan 😊
Spot on.. ex crew from Qatar for more than 12 years, i super agree with everything you mentioned. People have different reasons and situation why they stayed. Yes, it’s true after a certain number of years, it gets into your nerves and affects not only physically but also emotionally and mentally. It’ll change you big time without noticing it. However, it was fun that i enjoyed it so much and forgot about the passing time and personal priorities such as family and some other concerns. In my opinion, apart from your personal reason why you left flying, getting married and planning a family is a valid reason too to finally say goodbye to this career. I left for that reason and that puts me in a different perspective now with more permanence and stability. Working for a middle east airline is not easy at all, and only us “Middle East crew” would have a common unspoken understanding and feeling. Im glad we survived all these years!❤️
I can imagine that it is not an easy job being an airline crew member .. its as you say too much flying at low pressure, breathing circulated air, adjusting to different time zones, dealing with irritated passengers and lack of rest ..
Nice video. I am an ex-crew myself. Resigned after my first contract a few moths ago. I can only agree with your reasons. This job is a good experience but the lifestyle itself is sometimes exhausting in so many ways. Plus constantly being surrounded by Emirates even on your days off. Just it is sometimes so damn hard to get used to normal life again^^
I’m glad I didn’t choose Emirates after I attended an interview in Adelaide Australia, especially when they took over 5 months to get back to me, i refused to proceed further, though initially I had regrets then I moved on. Now, After watching your video I’m certain things happen for a reason. Though I reside in dubai for work it’s in hospitality sector.
I hope you have found the job you were looking for and are happy in that job. From me having flown as a passenger all flying attendants work very hard and do a great job so from me it's a 👍👍👍👍👍to you guys.

Hey Jaie! I’m an aspiring EK cabin crew. I’m currently 16 and 1/2. I feel that the aspect of having your entire life be surrounded by cabin crew can be slightly “controversial” (due to lack of a better term). I feel that some people might actually like that lifestyle. But then again, it depends. Great to hear about your experience!
You’re so cute!!! Thanks for this video, i’m going to an Open Day in 2 weeks and i can’t stop watching these “why i left emirates” videos. I TRULY want to be ready for the good and bad and listen to all of the crew’s opinions.

I resigned two years back for the same reasons you have mentioned in the video. I moved out for a bit before I resign - it was better than staying in the accomodation but not good enough to keep me in Dubai. But there are times that I really miss it - the multinational crew, good teams and destinations. I never regret leaving Emirates, but I never regret joining it too. love from HKG.
Nice video.. I truly understand your last point... Actually, I've realised the same after a year of flying... I'm still in aviation with another company as a structural engineer.... Happy to be out of the golden cage.....
I completely understand about the fatigue....not sleeping on regular hrs. I my self was a cabin crew for a major airline for about 7 yrs .I totally know what it means to be exhausted mentally and physically. Those red eye flights ,those 13,14 hr flights with 300+ passengers...... after a few yrs u just cant take it any more .
Hi! Loved your video!!! I have a question tho, since you left Emirates after 2 years and you did not complete the 3 year conctract, did you have to pay a penalty?
I loved this video. You did not bad-mouth Emirates, yet were straight to the point and concise about what didn't work for you. Most international airlines have a rostering system that arbitrarily assigns trips that leave cabin crews little schedule flexibility. They have little control over days off or the routes they fly. In the US, flight attendants have a bidding system whereby monthly lines of flying are awarded by seniority. If one isn't senior enough to hold a certain schedule (line), there is unlimited opportunity to drop or trade trips with other F/A's or with un-crewed trips (known as open flying). This schedule flexibility allows flight attendants to have a life outside of their flying career, whether raising children, going back to school, or embarking on a dual career. With the ME carriers, cabin crews can be flying in any direction around the globe within their flying month, which wreaks havoc on one's circadian rhythms. I've been a US-based F/A's for 33 years. My schedule flexibility allowed me to put myself through college and today allows me to establish a routine where I fly the same days or trip every week. As such, I am able to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Cabin crews in the Middle East aren't afforded that privilege (trip trading flexibility). I also appreciate that you named it: Emotional Stress. As an international purser, more often than not, my emotional bandwidth gets taxed by other crew members who feel entitled and less so by the passengers.
I guess most people become a cabin crew just for the glamour..They actually never got interested in aviation before, they just saw it as a means to make a buck and have a nice lifestyle... Hence why so many people leave after 2 or 3 years. Working in aviation is not for everybody..
It's is a glamorous job but it is no different from being a domestic helper more so if you deal with rude and obnoxious passengers. Good for you leaving the company. All the best in the future. One door closes another door opens.
I have joined cabin crew job, because i love planes and sky. I wanted to be a pilot actually, but didnt have enough money to pay for the courses .However with this type of jobe you are not able to live your life as yours . You have to in standby mode. Which is not so easy. Finally i left , but whenever I board the plane I am moving towards the jump seat:-)
@@LL-dl9vx , that's great! At least you got a taste of it. Well, could you please help me how to apply for it ? I hope to get a reply from you. I want to ask something else too which I'll if you replied.
I love your video. Actually, I've heard a lot about the pressure of being a Cabin crew but still I want to become a Cabin Crew but the thing is that my height is only 1m50. I would love to join Emirates and Qatar Airways but there is just only a little hope for me or even no hope at all if honestly.
Hi! Can I ask what were the fees and penalties you had to pay for under serving the 3-year contract? I wasn’t able to find anything elaborating on this online :/ thank you!
It is clear that emirates demands too much and controls people life. But are the local companies who needs flight attandents.I heard from girls who are working in their own countries, that are only going few times per month.
Being a cabin crew is really a lifestyle choice but you do sacrifice so much of your personal life for the company. Jet lag, poor sleep habits, constant schedule change will be a constant struggle. Thanks for sharing:)
Hi Jaie, what avenues are you looking towards regarding your next job/field of work? I have been a crew too and would not want to go back given the choice. But I'm stuck trying to figure out what to do. Currently working as a yoga teacher but don't see myself doing it too long. Any suggestions and ideas... How have you been figuring out this gamut of finding work that you like after being a crew? Hope to hear from you soon 😊
I cant speak for everyone, but for now I'm figuring out what I want to do too myself. I have been more focused on getting back my health and becoming fit. A lot of the ex-crew in Korea teach english, or make their own classes using their instagram to recruit students who wants to get in to emirates or be a cabin crew in general. I have also seen other Crew become a secretary for big companies or law firms because its a job that considers being a cabin crew as proper work experience of their field. I will for sure make a video about this topic in the near future but the truth for now is, I'm figuring things out as a go at the moment. I hope this helps! sorry :)
Hi 😊 great video👍 the contract is non binding during 3 years if I have same situation and I Will realised that it is not my cup of tea, and I resigned earlier, shoud I pay something because of the contract. Thank you in advance for answer.
Well if you resign before 1 year they will deduct a small amount, before 6 month big amount (like the plane ticket, room and stuff).. If I am not wrong. This also is something I heard so I dont know how much they will actually deduct. But after one year they wont deduct anything from your salary/ meaning you dont need to pay for anything. :)
watching "quit" videos just makes me have more compassion towards flight attendants not that i was rude to them to begin with, just that now i have some idea what they're going thru
There was a few, but mostly had to do with moving out situations, flight time and days off before leave, getting rid of R5a position and things like this :)
So current and former flight attendants/crew what are the best airlines? I was impressed with passenger videos but I kept seeing videos like this and I wouldn't want to support such businesses. Granted it will probably be years before I can fly to places I want to go but ideally I want to support businesses that actually take care of their staff.
Happy for u, am a FA since 22years, ever since i joined the airline i didn't like the job but i was not brave enough to leave, Now i just got used to it, many passengers + colleauges are very rude and unpolite yes very true what made me feel so bad longtime ago but guess what? now i have no more feelings about these silly people, i just continue my service as if they're not exist and when i reach home or the hotel i enjoy my live as if i didn't hear anything or nothing had happened All the best for u darling in your new life journey
Great video! I did my FI on May 9th and still waiting to hear back from them. I love getting to hear everyone's different perspectives. It helps me to understand what I may *potentially* be getting into :) How long did you work for Emirates?
Jaie.S It seems like you missed the hours, minutes and seconds. Don't take me wrong, after listening to your discription about what your work life was all about. I think that I would have been counting down until I "escaped " from such a demanding routine. I hope that you are now content with your life. Regards from the UK.
I am, Thanks! :) Don't get me wrong, I loved my experience and the time there... but it wasn't for me. I recommend the job to other people to try because it was such an eye opening experience. I changed my world view! but... yeah it just was that. An amazing learning experience. If anything I respect the people who have been a cabin crew longer than me even more.. since it was something that i just couldn't take :)

Hats off to you 2 years omg
Happy for u, am a FA since 22years, ever since i joined the airline i didn't like the job but i was not brave enough to leave,
Now i just got used to it, many passengers + colleauges are very rude and unpolite yes very true what made me feel so bad longtime ago but guess what? now i have no more feelings about these silly people, i just continue my service as if they're not exist and when i reach home or the hotel i enjoy my live as if i didn't hear anything or nothing had happened
All the best for u darling in your new life journey
Great video! I did my FI on May 9th and still waiting to hear back from them. I love getting to hear everyone's different perspectives. It helps me to understand what I may *potentially* be getting into :) How long did you work for Emirates?
Hi! sorry for the late reply :) I stayed in Emirates for exactly 2 years and 3 days
