  • David Bowie - The Width Of A Circle (1971)
The Man Who Sold The World LP was released in the Spring of 1971. I first heard this album about six months later and picked up the LP for 50 pence in a bargain rack. Halcyon days. That and the Syd Barrett LP "Barrett" also 1971 were the first LP's I bought. Ahead of the possee or what?

I know it's a bit bland putting up a great track with no real video behind it but this period Bowie is a killer. From sort of folkie to this sound in a year is one of those anomalies. That's Tony Visconti on bass and obviously Mick on guitar and Woody on drums. Engineered by Ken Scott as well. For someone in their early twenties to be writing songs like this even in 1970 this means they must of picked up on the esoteric stuff that was the under current of the sixties. Then came Hunky Dory.

I always look all over CZcams for these tracks without video or lyrics in the background. I like the music to speak for itself. Thanks for uploading this :)

4:19 heavily reminds me of The Who's song Bargain. Not a bad thing.

Music without Bowie would mean Music without Pop which would mean No Punk Scene :'(, Thank you Bowie for finding Pop and making him a star.
It's a good tune (haven't heard much from Bowie) for me i would class it has Hard Rock / maybe a tiny bit of Psych in there which was more towards the end.
