Exactly on one of my job sites we had a greeny show up and told him we needed a stud stretcher he walked the job for 3 hours asking everyone and finally the boss saw and asked what he was doing and then told us to tell him to look for another 30 mins than just get back to work. Then we told him that at the end of the day he said he knew, but he got paid to walk around for 3 hours to this day. idk if he did or didn't know if there was ever a stud stretcher.

Once some older guys told a new guy to get a rebar stretcher, he couldn't find it so he asked the secretary/time keeper for help. She sent him back to work and she went through every catalog and then started calling around town. Every place was out, and had her call other tool specialist and rental companies. 😂🤣 Boy, was she mad the next day.
One of my favorite tasks to assign to a young new guy is to tell him to paint something, hand him a can of spray paint, and tell him to keep shaking it until the rattling stops. That's when it's ready to use.
Im one of these guys. Im an underground limestone miner. We are only allowed diesel equipment underground. My favorites are sending new guys driving around the mine to get the mechanic to check their spark plugs or carburetor if their equipment breaks down. Ive also sent someone who happens to get stuck somewhere to find the rock torches but make sure they have a full tank of blue steam for the torches. It makes my day when the boss drives by me later and keys up on the cb and simply says "fuckin asshole!" 😂
Obviously use the skyhook ie crane and harness to lift him self to level of 6th floor trying to find it, the floor that is.. Witch reminds me going to work in heavy equipment and boss coming to tell me put on the safety harness, checked it was on good and moment i step outside they snap crane hook into my harness mount at the back and up i went to 60 meters, what a view, but while not terrified the heights, i do not like high speed impacts that much, so try to avoid situations where to potentially get into one.

I was working outside and was doing my thing when someone brought in a SkyJack lift. Well I was told we have to "test" them. I was put in a zboom lift and sent up 115 feet at which point THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY COMES OUT and turns the power to the basket off on me. Laughs and goes back inside. I got paid to stand in a basket 115 feet above the concrete I was sure to be slamming into momentarily...for a fucking hour..
One of my first days on a roofing job, someone came up to me and asked if my ID10T form was up to date. I said hol on, pulled my phone out of my pocket, pulled up the camera and flipped it around. Told the guy I got it right here and handed him my phone. I'm pretty sure I was instantly one of the boys from that point on

I felt like maybe they were messing with me, googled it, and sure enough it was a hazing thing (what's a henway? About 3 pounds), so when I came back a couple hours later they asked me if I found it. I told him "yeah, it's right next to the Updog". Gave em a chuckle and they stopped trying for a little bit.
I just got my son on in the field. He had to work in the shop for a couple days. They told him they need a matter daddy from the lay down yard😂😂😂 He fell for that shit
Our yard is under fucking power lines lol and they got drot stacked so high. I'm gonna fail the inspection but I'm hoping it won't be too too bad lol. What's a matter daddy tho never heard of it.

We used to send the new Privates after bottles of A. I. R., boxes of grid squares and miniature ground guides. It was extra fun because the motor sergeant was an ex drill sergeant with sense of humor similar to Rosco's.
LMFAO 6th floor. Don't forget the bucket of steam. And all the left handed tools and the scoop of nails pointing the direction of which wall thayre for!!!♥️♥️
One of my cabling leads had a guy pull all the tools out of a truck looking for a cable stretcher. The crew were laughing until I made them inventory everything since it was out of the truck already.
We strung along a not so bright apprentice for a year before we sent him to look for the wire stretcher. We would bring it up in casual conversation every so often just to keep in in the back of his mind. Then one day we sent him to look for it. Ripping the trucks apart, sending him back and forth with descriptions, no man, he used it last, check his truck, made him empty both rough in vans. After an hour we finally let him in on it, the look on his face was priceless after he realized we set him up for a year. Truth is, there wasn't anything for him to do that day, and the trucks were in serious need of being cleaned out and organized, so that's what he did for the rest of the day. Money well spent.
Ohhh, the list of pranks never cease to amaze me. From "changing the headlight fluid on every construction equipment" to "making a can of spotted paint", it's amazing how imaginative pranksters can get.
I recently got one of our new guys with the sky hook. He went into the shop to look for it, disappeared into the office for a few minutes, came out with two of the salesmen and the ops manager, and KEPT LOOKING. One of the salesmen asked if I was messing with him or if it was a nickname I have to a tool. I told him I was messing with him and we all watched as that boy continued looking for it for another five minutes. I have never been so happy to be cussed at. That was a good laugh.
One of the best hazing moments i've witnessed to was the new kid being told to get a trash bag and walk behind the propane forklift collecting the exhaust fumes so it can be sent out for air quality testing, it took him a couple days to finally catch on to that one

I got sent for a pipe stretcher and a sky hook and I already knew what is was I came up with grandfathers and uncles in the trades. I took the opportunity to goof off all day. Then I got in trouble for our smarting the old hands. My personal favorite is sending them to the tool room for some STring.
The funny thing is, the Sky Hook is an actual product now, their decent size cranes. I've read at least one story, where a guy was told to get a sky hook, calls up the crane rental company, and a $6000 a day crane with operator showed up the next morning.

We sent the new guy after wd40, PDQ, and K9P. The shops actually tried to find the stuff when an old timer called and asked what color.. I told him most dog Pee was yellow but we would just take what you got.

When I worked Tool Issue centre on a Helicopter shore squadron in the Navy, youngsters used to come in on the search for K9P...... We used to mix up this disgusting smelling concoction out of MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone - Really frickin' dangerous stuff, but we didn't know that at the time) some yellow jointing compound and some other bits n bobs and send them on their way. The look on some of their faces when we told them to give it a good sniff! Funny at the time, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone ended with cancer from that shit. I know it would clear a head cold out of your sinuses in an instant.

My first job the forklift driver pulled up to me and was in a hurry but was having "problems" with the hydraulics on the forklift so he told me to hurry up and run back to the tool room and get a bottle of hydraulic air for him. I ran so fast to look like a fool.😂

While working at a power house one year, we convinced an apprentice that a welding rod warmer was to keep our wire pulling soap from freezing. He took all the rod out and dumped a 5 gallon bucket of yellow 77 in there. The boilermakers were pissed! Valuable lesson learned that day for him.😂

Real talk I fell for the sky hook. I worked for a lumber company and we would fell and peel poles for utility purposes annnnnd well my lead sent me to the OWNERS office to ask for the skyhook. I worked for The Board of Waterworks, doing ground maintenance and cleaning out the ponds(4 football field sized ponds). Had one of the co-workers on my 2nd day of working, ask me to go grab the hose stretcher from the supervisor at the top ridge on the other side of the pond... little did i know... the look on the supervisors face was priceless

Love Roscoe's new look. When i started welding, i had a guy send me to the tool room for weld dissolve. I left. Came back a few min later with a can of water. Told him just let the weld soak, might take a bit but it will dissolve.
We told the new guy can to grab a can of porosity out the dog house. (A can of coke with sand in it) Then we told him to sprinkle it on the weld as the welder was welding. Good times ensued.

As he started welding I took a deep breath and got real close and blew into the arc. Got a little red on the face but well worth it when he lifted his hood and I said I see air.
When I drove a tow truck we had a new guy he came up to me and said that the air seat in his truck was squeaking I told him to run over and ask the mechanic for some air seat grease and if he didn't have any to run over to Napa and get it from them😂
daddy(grandfather) was a carpenter and builder and every great now, and then he would take me to work with him mostly to pick up trash when I was out of on summer break but one day he sent me to the truck to get a "board stretcher" .. I looked and looked.. I came back to him, and he had a smile on his face! Real talk I fell for the sky hook. I worked for a lumber company and we would fell and peel poles for utility purposes annnnnd well my lead sent me to the OWNERS office to ask for the skyhook. The owner looked me dead in the face and said boy the ain't used the sky hook since the 80s hahahaha. I was so embarrassed but learned a valuable lesson. DONT TRUST ANYONE 😂😂😂😂
The only experience ive had in construction was I was always a mechanic. So their tricks never worked on me. But every new guy needs to roll start a demo saw. It's always fun to watch

I worked for The Board of Waterworks, doing ground maintenance and cleaning out the ponds(4 football field sized ponds). Had one of the co-workers on my 2nd day of working, ask me to go grab the hose stretcher from the supervisor at the top ridge on the other side of the pond... little did i know... the look on the supervisors face was priceless

Love Roscoe's new look. When i started welding, i had a guy send me to the tool room for weld dissolve. I left. Came back a few min later with a can of water. Told him just let the weld soak, might take a bit but it will dissolve.
We told the new guy can to grab a can of porosity out the dog house. (A can of coke with sand in it) Then we told him to sprinkle it on the weld as the welder was welding. Good times ensued.
@@raginkajun199 I can only imagine what the welder thought...Had a guy tell me he could do a weld without putting any air in it. As he started welding I took a deep breath and got real close and blew into the arc. Got a little red on the face but well worth it when he lifted his hood and I said I see air.

daddy(grandfather) was a carpenter and builder and every great now, and then he would take me to work with him mostly to pick up trash when I was out of on summer break but one day he sent me to the truck to get a "board stretcher" .. I looked and looked.. I came back to him, and he had a smile on his face! It was several years before he told me there wasn't such a thing!!!😅 He was a tough man who hammered his way through a heart attack without realizing it... took a break,drink a Pepsi-Cola and a goodies powder and went back to work!!!
