I'm a big MJ fan, so this cover had to climb that hurdle for me and did. I like to think Michael Jackson would be snapping his fingers along to her marvelous cover. Have you reacted to her new video of 7th Heaven? They put her into that jazz club type of setting and it's so perfect for her.
At first sight I itched to have the backing track added that I had in memory from MJ. But a crossover would probably even better, the original doesnt sound as good in reality as I remembered. But now after hearing it several times, I love her take on it as it is. Her vocals are dope anyway. Looking at her tik toks they now sound like training for the song in retrospect I wonder what that says of her latest tiktok where she's singing much softer. I guess we'll see.

I love this cover too, and I really appreciate how intimately you've come to understand and interpret Angelina's unique spin and fearlessness. As a painter, I got caught up in watching the color play, and the colors make perfect sense from that viewpoint. That's no surprise either, because of her own art, and her grandma's expertise as an artist. Still a very Angelina the Brave, surprising style, both visually and vocally. I loved it.

I have never really paid much attention to lyrics of songs until I discovered Angelina.

I love your reactions, Adam, and especially to Angelina. You really get her uniqueness and your comments illuminate for me aspects of this stellar cover that make me understand why it feels so special. I'm a big MJ fan, so this cover had to climb that hurdle for me and did. I like to think Michael Jackson would be snapping his fingers along to her marvelous cover. Have you reacted to her new video of 7th Heaven? They put her into that jazz club type of setting and it's so perfect for her.
7th Heaven video was perfect video for that song for her personality and the scoopy nature of the song.
At first sight I itched to have the backing track added that I had in memory from MJ. But a crossover would probably even better, the original doesnt sound as good in reality as I remembered.
But now after hearing it several times, I love her take on it as it is. Her vocals are dope anyway.
Looking at her tik toks they now sound like training for the song in retrospect I wonder what that says of her latest tiktok where she's singing much softer. I guess we'll see.
Her singing more softly in her latest TIKTOC is getting back to what her older fans like, and approve of. A few of her TICTOC quickies were too loud, and lacked her usual tenderness.

I knew you'd love this. Great reaction, but I was surprised you didn't mention the piano as you have mentioned several times that you feel she is at her best with just her and an instrument. Others have noted that they were so enthralled with her voice that they didn't notice the piano.
She's amazing. I could see her as a featured singers in one of Post Modern Jukebox songs. Her jazziness style would fit perfectly with PMJ

Wooww... Adam, what a beautiful reaction once again. Flooded with detailed observations. The ones striked me were “ the colors in the video refer to the pop era of the original” and “Angelina telling a story directly to the listener in a relaxed chlling setting”. Very well done, I appreciate that. I loved the cover, Angelina surprised us all again as expected ! I think that this cover will make everybody listen to the lyrics more carefully as if they have not ever done before. And Angelina will prove again that if you have the musical talent you can be brave enough to cover an iconic Michael Jackson song with a jazz vibe which in my opinion is a respectful tribute to Michael Jackson and jazz music. Adam, imagine what is going to happen when she finishes school next year, and it's full speed ahead...she really is inventing her own genre...she pulls the greatest of the past to the present. She has mastered phrasing ( borrowed from Frank), mastered silent space ( borrowed from Billie) remastered in her own style ,skat and brings this to a generation who hasn't a clue...when the real promotions start it will turn this generation on its ear. This is more than a IMO.
I love this cover too, and I really appreciate how intimately you've come to understand and interpret Angelina's unique spin and fearlessness. As a painter, I got caught up in watching the color play, and the colors make perfect sense from that viewpoint. That's no surprise either, because of her own art, and her grandma's expertise as an artist. Still a very Angelina the Brave, surprising style, both visually and vocally. I loved it.
To me, this is a gorgeous masterpiece &, just like few singers touch Michael's original, I bet few will attempt this version, as well!
