Narrator-san is the MVP of the Chimera ant arc.
Naw, he can fuck right off. Ground the pace to a halt so many times I had to skip ahead to get to the important stuff.
Pito crying was a golden scene. Ngl with king and gon character development this arc, it had made gon seem like a villain

the best thing about this ep is the small details that many don't pay attention to, like when pito was trying to reach the king and regret the decision! first time i watched this arc i was like what what decision ? was it the attempt to protect the king? No, she regret the decision when she tried to fight nitro when she should protect the girl. and the crying scene, there she knew how much the girl is important to the king.
how do u know that the first desicion is not the true one?
No, she regrets the decision to come fast to aid the King, its plainly obvious. She regrets its because she is feeling the negative energy from Meruem and this is an scenario she wasn't even aware it could happen: her King having those feelings and being completly vulnerable and Pitou's being the Royal Guard to witness that state of her god-king. You gotta understand until that moment the King was in the RG expectations and perception a perfect being, ruthless and absolute.
Emotional vulnerability wasn't something Pitou's planned to encounter from the King, ever. Even less in the midst of a battle.
Your second interpretation is the correct one, about Pitou's crying mirroring the King's emotional distress, and plain love. The King's raw love (expressed as sadness and anger at first, and then him kneeling before his RG and abandoning any resemblance of pride to ask for Pitou's healing gifts to save the human girl) was something Pitou's feared since the beginning but she couldn't map it from the very beginning without context. Until it actually entered the guest's room Pitou couldn't tell what was happening exactly.
Togashi's decision to completly obscure Meruem's facial expression was a touch of genius. We are left with our imaginations to fill the gaps of his love and shock.

Pitou cares about Meruem greatly, Meruems request was very emotional for them. Not only did Pitou empathize with Meruems pain in that moment, but she was also needed by him

At that moment, she felt how hurt the King was over this event
And tears flowed
It reminds tou they are pretty much human like the rest of us, with a different perspective, thats all
They are not less humans than Zeno himself standing right there, and they probably have killed less people honestly

The answer to your question will show you how complex and great Togashi's writing is. Pitou crying can be understood in different ways, and all of them are correct. The first explanation: Pitou felt so honored by the King that she cried, he even said "I"m counting on you" which show a big shift in his personality, he who started as a tyrant who slapped and almost killed Pitou for being insolent to him, just after he was born.
Second explanation: Pitou was moved by the whole situation, and she/he/it was feeling empathy toward the King's and his feeling. This might show that character development in Pitou character (we will see that more later, for example when Pitou apologize to Gon before trying to kill him).
Third explanation: Pitou was worried about the King's and his entire race and purpose of existing after seeing the change in his heart and how much he cares for Komugi. He cares for Komugi for Komugi to the point that he is almost begging for Pitou the save her.
The narrator told us Pitous ability comes out in 1/10th of a second. When Meruem walks between Netero and Zeno, he WALKED past them at that speed.
There were a couple episodes where the pace slowed down and they felt like a break from the tension but for 25 episodes STRAIGHT this arc was just TENSE bro

There’s times where I think the narrator is real important in helping to understand shit then there’s scenes like this which don’t need narration whatsoever.
