Falcon Crest: Season 3 (1983-84) cliffhanger (the plane crash)

These are the final minutes to “Ashes to Ashes”, the third season finale for the 1981-90 CBS drama “Falcon Crest”. This was the 28th episode of the third season (68th overall). It also marks the final appearances of Mel Ferrer as Philip Erickson and Cliff Robertson as Dr. Michael Ranson. This episode originally aired on Friday, May 18, 1984.
Before Julia Cumson (Abby Dalton) was presumed dead after the springhouse fire, she wrote a letter requesting for her ashes to be scattered in Italy. To that end, Richard Channing (David Selby) offers the use of his plane and Chase Gioberti (Robert Foxworth) to pilot it. However, cartel assassin Spheeris (Ken Letner), posing as a mechanic tampers with the plane before takeoff.
Angela Channing, Philip Erickson (Mel Ferrer), Lance Cumson (Lorenzo Lamas), Emma Channing (Margaret Ladd), Richard Channing, Maggie Gioberti (Susan Sullivan), Michael Ranson (Cliff Robertson), Terry Ranson (Laura Johnson), Linda Gioberti (Mary Kate McGeehan) and Joseph Gioberti (Jason Goldberg), all take off in a plane, one of its engines catches fire and Chase suspects sabotage, the plane dives perilously and goes down in the Colorado Rocky Mountain Range, leaving everyone's lives hanging in the balance.
