Upgrading MDF Buffing Wheel on Bench Grinder

  • MDF buffing wheel is added to CBN bench grinder manufactured with 175rpm deceleration motor.
When polishing the woodturning tool, it is convenient to remove the burr that came over the edge of the blade at once.
The mdf wheel at the edge away from the motor shaft is not balanced, but it is a slow rotational speed of 3 turns per second, so there was no problem in using it.
Thank you for watching, and have a nice day.

Thanks for the video. Gives me a good idea on using a variable speed bench grinder, and attaching a threaded extension rod from one side of the grinder in order to add different pads and wheels- preventing the need to change out each wheel for each task. I plan to place the end of the threaded rod into a ball bearing which will support the rod and maintain it in the exact axis of rotation of the grinder, being that it will extend so far away from the machine. This should take out the wobble. Thanks for showing us your build.

That's a lovely workshop. I have a comment and a suggestion to make.
    1. Comment: Never underestimate how hazardous the dust from MDF is over time. When that stuff enters the lungs it stays there and causes the lung tissue surrounding it to become fibrose. No joke. For this you must use a mask with an effective air filter and no gaps. Make the investment if you haven't already. You won't regret it.
    2. May I suggest that one can find the perfect center before one cuts the round. Cut the round on a table saw by pinning the work piece to a strip of material that runs through the slot parallel to the blade. Set the distance to the radius of the circle you want to cut by measuring from the tooth of the blade to the nominal centre of the work-piece pinned to the strip located in the slot. As long as the work piece is larger than the circle you want to cut then just carefully feed it on to the spinning saw blade and gently nibble away at it. Voila! A perfect circle with a hole dead centre. I hope this helps.
I like your video style BTW. Step-by-step, speeded up and no nonsense. Great idea and great content. They are a pleasure to watch. Thank you.

Hello. Nice to meet you. 😀
I know that dust from MDF is harmful to human body. It was not seen in the video, but it was made wearing a dustproof mask with good performance.
Protective eyeglasses and masks are essential while working on woodwork, and earplugs are also worn to protect ears when using noisy machines.
As Paul Kelly said, we need to invest in protective gear to protect the human body. It's the only way to protect my body while working.
Thank you again for reminding me.😀
I've been thinking about cutting it round from the table saw.
I had to drill a 16mm hole in the center of the circle, so I thought about it. I couldn't think of a pin to fix at 16mm.
I thought the center would be disturbed if I fixed it with another pin and drilled the hole again.
The way you say it is a very good and accurate way. I often use this method, too.
I think you're an expert in carpentry technology.
Thank you so much for watching my video and writing a sincere comment. I hope you have a good day.😀

Тоже практиковал такую идею, но эти удлиненные гайки абсолютно не центрованы, Камни при такой посадке гуляют очень сильно, без токарной работы сделать подобное приспособление точно не возможно. И у наждака очень маленькие обороты.

Amazing expertise. What type of grinder and does it have variable speed?

Great video. May i ask the grinder RPM? it looks slow speed and what’s the model? Thanks.

A four pole 1/2 horsepower induction motor with a reducer. The motor is 1750 rpm and the deceleration ratio is 1/10. So the speed is 175 rpm.
It has good torque and is easy to control by grinding at low speed.
      Have a nice day.

    • @MuyoungWorkshop
      @MuyoungWorkshop  Před rokem
