I saw Steve playing this guitar last weekend and couldn't figure out what guitar it was. It sounded beautiful especially when Steve played Purple Rain solo. It gave me goosebumps. This guitar is the best I have heard from Steve. Unlike the PRSs this cut through the mix by miles.
Yeah! Sounds just like Knopfler! Seeing Steve play that guitar makes me think of the sound on Knopfler’s Golden Heart song. Whilst it’s probably not a guitar I’ve ever coveted, I gotta admit to liking it here. Thanks guys, great vid, and made it to the very end.
Suhr will make a guitar that is much closer to a Knopfler spec, but you have to custom order it. The Knopfler guitar has a solid figured maple body and a carved top. Also, Suhr no longer uses the PLEK machines. They went back to doing fret work by hand using a neck tensioning jig. Regardless, the frets are very consistently well done in their guitars.
Tried one of these last week in guitar guitar Glasgow! Looked very pretty, unfortunately I didn’t think it did the single coil thing as well as my silver sky / Strat and the overdriven humbucker thing as well as my CS les Paul. Very tempted by a carve top but they are very expensive!
Yeh your always going to be making a compromise there when your used to such fine examples of each specific sound - thats why sound wise it wouldn’t be my choice either. Thanks man
Exactly my problem with my Valley Arts Custom Pro, the 85 emg humbucker isn’t splittable. Then you need a 89. I really like position 4 (middle/bridge) on a strat.
@@stevenpricehereford there’s an original floyd rose made in Germany (you can spot it from the squared saddles on the bottom and the made in Germany logo on the base plate) and the 1000 original Floyd rose made in Korea (rounded saddles). The legacy has the second one

Is this guitar different to the Suhr standard legacy limited edition guitars where the bodies are made out of okume wood? Thanks
Think this is the standard legacy edition - ill have to ask Steve
This guitar, in more videos than just this, is that EMG actually sound quite good.
They are extremely clear and crisp but dont have that overwound compressed sort of sound a 15k plus alnico pickup would have (thankfully haha)
If it smells good, it will play good
Thats my motto 😅
Not my cup of tea visually but definitely sounds good :-)
Its a must have colour for a Knopfler fan 🤘🤘
@@Paul-D it's more the design than the colour 🙂
'Suits you suhr' trem puts me off, can't fault the sound though
Its alot to put your faith in as a non Floyd user i will admit haha.
The guitar has a floyd rose 1000 installed (a Korean made) not the German one
You got me researching the differences now haha.
Original
Floyd rose on this 👍🏼
