- Happy 1 year anniversary of my Henry video on overcoming disabilities everyone!
To mark the occasion, I've decided to do another video dedicated to life lessons taught in Thomas and Friends. Not just to demonstrate how far I've come in terms of editing in a year, but just so I can talk about one of my favourite episodes of all time.
All At Sea!
I did mean to release this tomorrow, but I feel like giving you guys a breaking having to put up with my Book Of Boba Fett Review hahaha.

The ending scene of Duck, Thomas, and Percy looking at the sunset is hands down one of the best moments of the entire show. Everything from the beautiful sunset colors and light, the very sweet music, and the touching narration by the voice of my childhood George Carlin, have all made it stick so hard with me since I was a little kid.
This is what Classic Thomas was supposed to be. Not only a kid show, but also had some valuable life lesson
As well as CGI Thomas (Brenner era, Series 17-21).
nah Classic Thomas is every episode having the moral of 'don't be an asshole or you'll get your comeuppance'
This is why this episode always sticks in my mind
This is my favorite episode of the show.
Same
While the world is a fascinating place, it can also be dangerous, and sometimes, underwhelming. The way I interpret the ending line is that nothing can take you on a better travel than your own imagination.
Couldn't have put it better myself!
"It's Home."
I needed to hear that today. It's good to be reminded that travel and exploring new places are all well and good, but Home is a special place that cannot be replicated anywhere else. Its where you are most comfortable and with the people you cherish your relationships with. Everyone needs a place they call Home. There is nothing else quite like it.
*Wise words my boy*
Percy saying that engines can't float may be absurd, because Thomas goes sailing all the time in Big World Big Adventures (which we on CZcams all criticized).
it's criminal that these dont get as many reviews as they do. massive fan of what you've been producing!
Thank you very much!
I'm a fan of your work too.
@@usualblokeluke Hoping there can be some appreciation videos on Carlin. His chill voice for Harold and others is fantastic and he diesnt seem to get a lot of videos praising him that arent just season reviews.
As a kid, his delivery of Harold talking about the regatta for the 1st time got me thinking harold said raisins instead of races
@@Thomasmemoryscentral
A video dedicated to my full thoughts on the American narrators would be interesting. Though I'd have to make sure I don't repeat myself from when I talked about them in my Magic Railroad review.
The Harbour Theme is so a unique gem of this show.
My love for Duck & Oliver can basically be described in a meme.
*Me:* “Congratulations, because Oliver is almost definitely one of the best characters in Thomas. His arc in the show in his book and Seasons 3 & 4, his backstory is just fascinating and what he represents as a whole for the scrapping of engines is just-“
*Other fans:* “Yes yes, but then why is he not one of your absolute favourite characters? Why is one of your favourite’s Duck?”
*Me:* “Oh Duck? Well the reason why Duck is higher then Oliver for me is just, well, I like him.”
*Other fans:* “What? But Oliver-“
*Me:* “No, I like him. Oliver’s brilliant, but I like Duck. Listen, there are more fleshed out & interesting characters then that Great-Western Pannier Tank Engine, but I like that Great-Western Pannier Tank Engine. Yes he isn’t the most complexed character, he hardly appears after Series 4 and his CGI Era character can be a bit annoying but I still think he’s brilliant. His design’s great, his theme is just fantastic and his personality is just so likeable! He does his work without fuss, he has fun now & again but knows when it goes too far, has great friendships with many characters, has a wonder-ness side and is just a nice chap all round!”
That's not a meme that's a whole essay.
I always loved the scenery in this episode, the bright day light with the sea. It made me think it was real as a kid
I wish BWBA ended with an episode like All At Sea, but starring Thomas. That would make a lot more sense.
Then it would be the perfect arc:
Classic series-Brenner era:Thomas wants to see the world.
BWBA:Thomas sees world.
Final episode:Thomas realising, how important the value of home.
All at sea is one of the only episodes I actually remember watching as a kid. This video brought back a lot of fond memories for me.
Ain't nothing quite like the feeling of nostalgia
I cried when there was the final scene of the episode with Duck, Percy and Thomas, all three engines together, viewing the sea, the boats and the horizon at the docks of the bay. It implicates how home is the most valued place with their friends and family but it is still nice for them to imagine the life of other places.
This was definitely an episode that I did not like as kid but now I've grown to appreciate it as an adult.
All At Sea is truly an amazing episode. Duck truly has grown as a character.
As someone who wants to explore the outside of Utah, I have those dreams of traveling to places like Japan, the UK, Germany, and France to name a few, but growing up in a rather poor family with problems of their own, those dreams may be dashed until I can actually fulfill them, but realize that home is where the heart is, and having autism may cause me to mentally break down in a way that only home could cheer me up.
The detailed look into All At Sea is wonderful because not only are we able to digest the moral more thoroughly, but it makes me happy that I've never been outside of Utah because it allows me to dream of those places in spite of the flaws that those places have.
Thank you for sharing this with us
I too as someone with autism know what it's like to have the stresses of somewhere different but it's still nice to dream
May you one day be able to travel to these places while still knowing that there's no place like home 🙂
This episode I believe is better the older I get. The delivery at the end by Angelis is a genuine highlight of his delivery.
14:59 26 years later Mattel made Bwuba.
Because *they* think the “See the World” quote being a metaphor *isn’t* enough!
Now, I feel *guilty* giving BwuhBa a shot!
The best travels are those we can dream about
I couldn’t agree more with it all
Duck still wonders about the lands beyond the horizon, but he understands sometimes the greatest trips you can have are in your dreams don't you.
It’s over been a year since this review was released, and this beautiful episode is still stuck in my head. So admirable and inspirational.
A wise tank engine once said - “there’s no place like home!”
"Bluebells forever!"
I think this is the video everyone needs right now. For many of us who want to travel to see the world or visit a friend who lives in another state we just have to accept who we are and where we are at this very moment in life.
"There's one thing from stopping you from traveling"
money
wow. That was amazing. Totally agree.
I adorable All At Sea and you going into depth sums up just how much I love this episode, All At Sea is a top 5 episode for sure! The effort put into this video is outstanding and this should be seen by both Thomas fans and the general public! Fantastic work!
Thank you very much!
A hope one day a people make a correct restored version of ,,Coal " and ,,The flying Kipper ".
I swear I heard Tugs at the beginning
You'd be correct 🙂
@@usualblokeluke Luke, this video is just what is necessary to chart me up after a sad twitter storm mess came where fans I respect are slamming Britt Allcroft for not respecting the railway series over a new interview she did on the magic railroad bluesy and an old 1994 interview
This is also the only episode (which I've seen at least) where a locomotive doubts its purpose - to serve people, pull trains.
All at Sea really is one of the legendary episodes that comes to mind when I think of S3. The harbor sets and regatta, along with the music and intelligent moral about purpose and home is really stellar, not to mention that ending shot of Duck, Thomas and Percy watching the sunrise/sunset of the horizon is so tearjerking yet happy goosebumps along w/ the fantastic line delivery from George Carlin (Angelis did too, but I think he talked a bit too fast for my liking). Fun fact - this is also Britt Allcroft's favorite episode alongside Down the Mine b/c of said-ending that David Mitton framed as a picture to her and that really shows (take notes BWBA, take notes!).
It was also the final episode on Percy's Ghostly Trick and 10 Years of Thomas releases, which gives it a satisfying conclusion to an amazing batch of episodes.
Love the use of the Sonic Mega Collection Plus extras music at the begining ❤️ Very nostalgic 😊
Started listening to that song a lot recently
Takes me back 😊
@@usualblokeluke I enjoy listening to it when I'm drawing it's very relaxing ^^
I regret ever thinking this episode is overrated back in 2018, this is an absolute gem of the third season and is definitely up there as one of the show's finest morals. Keep on going strong with these videos, man. I love what you're doing
Thank you!
@@usualblokeluke a neat detail about the first night shot of Brendam Docks is the placement of Ducks headlight in the middle front from a distance gives it the impression it's in his mouth until the camera pans far ahead a bit to show it's not the case and the bright light just made it appear that way
14:48
This just made me tear up. Absolutely beautiful
This episode is the most beautiful episode of the entire classic series imho. The Flying Kipper and Henry’s Forest being the only other episodes with higher beauty.
You make me tear up so much dude. You've earned yourself a subscriber
You deserve more, man. :)
Aw thank you very much
Welcome aboard
I love All At Sea! It might be my favorite episode of season 3!
You are an underrated, amazing content creator and I'm happy that we friended each other on SIF so I could discover your wonderful videos. All At Sea is almost thirty years old and it's one of my favorites. Every time I rewatch it, I weep at both the opening and the ending. The moral is so significant to my life and I appreciate your discussion about it.
That ending man, Oh my God!!!! Such a strong message this episode gives, I still can't believed that *A KID SHOW* teaches it's target audience the harsh reality of life, yet it also gives us a new apreciation on what we do have, it's lovely to dream of what's beyond but sometimes dreams can become an obsession and you start to losse track on what's important, "Your home", Like think about it; *You finally acomplish your dream of Seeing new things, and you're happy but you realice that you're alone, and you don't have the people that you love and love you back to share that happiness with* DAMN, that's deep.
But any ways, I genuinely adore this video so soo much, I'm really glad that you gave this episode so much justice and more. Absolutely fantastic!!!!
P. S. sorry for the long ass comment, All at sea is my favorite episode of the entire series and when I have an excuse to talk about I go all out XD
As I watched this video I suddenly realised that the Spongebob episode 'Nature Pants' has an incredibly similar message to 'All At Sea', although it's told in a completely different way.
Well this is gorgeous, don't know where you came from but i hope you don't leave
Great review. I talked about this episode when I wrote a review on a CZcamsr named Dhar Mann, where I used AAS as an example of a moral that's portrayed subtly and born from a situation that's real enough to take place in the world that's been established, whereas Dhar Mann's content consists of morals manufactured from scenarios that don't happen in the real world his videos are supposed to take place in, and are constantly being spoon-fed to viewer every other minute.
Another smashing vid!!! Was such a lovely surprise to see my painting in there. This was the perfect tidbit while we wait for the bumper series 7 review!!
I remember watching this episode when I was little. I craved to be in that harbor so much, mostly because I actually believed that the island was real thanks to one of my DVDs showing footage from a day out with Thomas….
I am ever grateful that the Season 8 video is coming out on July 16.
This episode relates to me in such a way. Originally my family and i were surposed to go to the UK for a holiday BUT covid hit and we have to wait until Daniel Andrews allowed us to go because me and my mum and sister won't be getting the jab because 1. i only have 1 kidney and 2. my sister and mum both have epilepsy.
I'm so sorry to hear about that
Covid really has been a detriment to all of us by keeping us from doing the things we enjoy
Yeah, I was gonna head to Texas to see my cousins back in 2020 but then COVID hit
Just like old times
One of the best youtube videos i've ever seen
I love regattas. I've never watched one in person, but boats racing might as well be entertaining.
Great video .
I loved the video. It really got me towards the end. One of things I began to appreciate as I got older was how much I had underrated home. Sure, I might not get to visit the ends of the earth, but what I realized was that Dallas has plenty of cool attractions that were just a stone's throw away. In my obsession to visit other lands, I had ignored all the vibrant and fun stuff I have easy access to right back at home.
Finally, so happy to see my favorite episode of the series get the love and attention it deserves. I’m definitely gonna make a vid about it myself someday but its so nice to see someone else talk about it. Amazing video man, amazing
Cheers mate
Good luck with your own video 🙂
Being near the end of the season gives it a fun warm feel and the Thomas cameo shoots down Wilberts statement that Thomas gets shunted into so much but they dont even acknowledge him by name in this episode. He is just there with 2 of his friends in an iconic shot that has become recreated by many. Particularly the last frame where we see the sunset behind the engines
@@Thomasmemoryscentral gotta love it when writers know how to not force a character into a story
@@usualblokeluke Yeah. Heck at least a few stories dont even feature him onscreen in the season at all: Mavis, Toby's Tightrope, Heroes, Edward, Trevor And The Really Useful Party
He's in several on screen but not mentioned by name: One Good Turn, Escape, Bulgy, Time For Trouble, Donald's Duck.
Wilbert does have a good case of Thomas getting in a lot of scenes bit in my cases, hes not in every S3 story and a few times he's on screen, he has no dialogue and is just running around doing work
@@Thomasmemoryscentral It's like they understand the show doesn't have to be all about Thomas
Headcanon of mine:
The GWR 6000 King class member King George V traveling to America is what made Duck want to travel to faraway lands. Also another headcanon that King George V along with King James I (who Duck implied didn’t show off like Sodor James) Olton Hall (the Hogwarts Express engine) Pendennis Castle (who has a big history with Flying Scotsman) Caerphilly Castle (the first 4073 member) and Viscount Churchill (who was formerly The Great Bear) would’ve been some of the few big engines on the GWR who’d get along with Duck and other small tank engines like Oliver that wouldn’t belittle them for their size.
Wow! This was truly spectacular! I'm glad that somebody took the time to analise this episode, this was so well written and edited! You have earned a sub my man!
Thank you very much!

This made me subscribe to your channel
Luke got me tearing up at the end 🥲
This is a gem to watch, you did a fantastic job editing it and the songs used were perfect at conveying so much emotion.
I think ,,Edward and Gordon " , ,,Old Iron " and ,,Edward 's Exploit "are also a great example .
4:05: that clip though... if only it was a real place!
Just discovered your channel and imediatly was impressed with your passion for reviewing the series decided to give my subscription to your channel!
Cheers for the subscription mate
Welcome to the channel 🙂
best intro tbh
I will eventually get my own CZcams channel when go across the world filming trains.

Well I saw Tug ´s video on Duck I think a meme can explain Duck ´s character in the 3 timelines .
RWS Duck🤝Model Duck 🤝CGI Duck :
We are all great
Nice overview!
Number 808, This fellow deserves another sub!
FORMULA 1 Racing Series
But this leaves me with a serious question:
What does that mean for people that have either moved away or want to move away to another location for various specific reasons?
In this case, it's realising if they did travel where ever and whenever they wanted, there's no place on earth that carries the same energy as what you classify as home
I would like to see all engines go or bluey tell a story like this
Hopefully this gets alot of views!
Fingers crossed
16:13 I think the font choice could be a little better.
Duck does not say "Thank you, Bertie" in the UK dub.
