I love this game ... Such a criminally underrated masterpiece.. And don't get me started on the amazing soundtrack made by Jesper Kydd... Thank you guys for highlighting this gem 😁
I never liked it when I first played it, was such a huge change from the first one which I loved. Started again in the last year or so and I have to say it's so amazing and the story is incredibly rich, loads to do and has really hyped me for ds3
Their are 3 epic moments, death vs war, the gardian, samael. The build up, and the ost for these fights are just epic. Still listen to them when I get stung by crippling depression.
As someone who loves Prince of Persia, God of War and Diablo, this game is fantastic on all fronts for me. The gameplay is so smooth and so engaging that I would play it just for that, the combat is so intricate and satisfying which really allows me to express myself when playing, the movement system is way more engaging than what we have these days with awesome movement abilities that require you to actually think and react when traversing levels, the loot provides an awesome sense of progression and satisfaction when you see yourself spike in power after getting an upgrade, the variety of weapons and spells available is really refreshing letting me choose how I want to play the game with my personal favorites being the great axes and hammers, the puzzles are well thought out and really fun to solve with the many tools they give you, the art is timeless with a comic book aesthetic that ages very well. I played this game right after finishing Darksiders 1 and this is by far the better game , everything is improved and it really shows. This game is so well designed and crafted that anyone who appreciates game design should play it. I was hesitant because of complaints I read but the moment I played the tutorial level all doubts were gone. I implore everyone to at least try it. I can't wait for Darksiders 3 and future games.
Wang Hai Feng is it worth it tho? I played prince of Persia when I was younger and I finish recently Legends of Zelda breath of the wild and I completely love that game and I’m not sure if I should buy Darksiders 2 or not
I’m like the only person in the comments that likes the loot system lmao. It was really cool to get weapons with health steal or wrath steal, or trying to see what kind of wacky possessed weapons you could make.
snair I liked it too, in the first one finding a chest wasn't too much of a reward. In Darksiders 2 on the other hand any chest is a surprise from which you can get anything so it's always a pleasure to seek and collect them
I loved it. I just feel it was way too easy to exploit the system. You had no limit on how many weapons you could carry and I feel you got quite a lot for the weapons you trade in.
I had this game in my hard drive for a long time because it was free with Xbox Live Gold one month: I had no idea it looked this good and had no idea it was made in 2012. Plus the whole death and the four horseman stuff is right up my alley. Thank you for making this video!
knight17 saraki Exactly, so much more refined and interesting. The gauntlet mode in the game is so fun. I want then to make an RPG with the loot system and combat of this game with coop play. It would give any ARPG a run for their money.
This game is almost perfection for me, it has it all, great combat, good puzzle and platform segments, great graphics, just simply perfect. I hope darksiders 3 will be just as good, but from what i have seen from the footage, it is lacking combat "oomph" (hits look like they do no damage) and the physics are a bit "off", but i hope they will fix that in a newer build.
By far one of my favorite games ever. Death's character is amazing, I loved the few moments of humor and sarcasm he had in the game. Also, Belial's Trident has to be the most overpowered secondary weapon in the game.
I always preferred Death over War. His more sarcastic attitude is more enjoyable to watch than War's constant anger. Which is why I'm hyped to play as Fury soon because she just seems to enjoy all the chaos.
GroundPoundable Death is so much more fun to play as too. He's more agile and more powerful than War at the same time which really shows through the combat.
Yes! Darksiders II is brilliant from the music, exploration, combat and story. Way too many other things to mention! Also, play the equally brilliant Darksiders!
One of my favorite underrated gems. And to think I only bought this game because I had a brand new Wii U (we all know how THAT went, lol) and nothing to play on it. Now I am a fan of the franchise, even if I own the worst possible version of this game.
Oi mates thanks for the vid. I love DS2 to an unreasonable degree and don't agree with the comments prefering the first one lel. Jesper Kyd worked wonders on this title, too.
I agree with you. I think people who don't like it are trying to play it like more recent action games like Uncharted when its more complex and is more like God of War, Prince of Persia and Diablo. They're trying to rush through the game instead of aporeciating the combat and levels.
I love both Darksiders games. As a long time franchise fan, they were both more what I wanted from a modern Zelda game than either Skyward Sword or Breath of the Wild were. So, I know it's a controversial opinion, but I'd rather go back and play these two games again than to ever go through the previous two Zelda games. But, make no mistake, that is the type of games the Darksiders are, a lot more than they are similar to games like Devil May Cry.
Came to the comments just to praise the incredible soundtrack by Jesper Kyd. Saw several other people have pointed that out, which was refreshing. I played Darksiders 2 because I loved the first one, but the first one felt short and not really up to its potential. I mean, I finished it in 6 hours and was like "What, that was it!? I want more!"! Darksiders 2 fixed that and improved pretty much everything. The parkour mobility was especially fun! Yeah so maybe there was more loot than necessary, but that's at worst a mild inconvenience and a small price to pay for the awesomeness that is everything else in the game. I don't get all these people complaining that it was too big and had too many missions or quests or puzzles... it's a fucking game, it's supposed to give you stuff to do, and this one allows to do so much, even just running around listening to the music if you want to. I'd do that sometimes to decompress! It was relaxing! Of course that if all you want to do is smash enemies, this might not be the game for you, but that's what I would call repetitive. This game even has that arena where you can just fight for hours!
I like this new segment. This can be perfect to recommend games that have already come out or are underrated. I never even considered Darksiders 2 until this video.
Yes yes YES Brad! Thank you! No matter how much I praise this game to my friends, almost no one took the time to play this series. I Like this game so much and can't quite understand why critics do not give it a good score. This Zelda/God of war-esque game is amazing, I Thought non of the allies cared, but I am glad to see I was wrong. I am glad you hype this series as a 3rd one is coming soon and I wouldn't want it to be overlooked. I Got really scared this series was dead when THQ went bankrupt, I am glad Nordic are keeping it alive. Let's hope they will make it shine.
Knife Guy Gamer I disagree, literally everything is better in the second game. The combat is deeper, smoother, faster and more varied. The level design is more open and intricate with more tools at your disposal. The story is better written with a much more interesting main character. The puzzles are more complex without being confusing. The enemies have better variety and AI which offer a better challenge. The only thing you might dislike is the loot system which I adore with the amount of choice and flexibility the games gives you to change your play style.
I disagree on pretty much everything you said... The level design was bigger but definitely not as intricate. The puzzles were easier, D1's final level literally had an entire Portal game in it, and there were numerous other puzzles which I found myself stuck in. The bosses are way more memorable in D1. But will say the first big boss of D2 was very memorable - the giant. D2's ending sucked too as the final boss was underwhelming as hell (they could've just made the big guy as the final boss). And I firmly disagree on the challenge part. D1 was very hard in a lot of places where D2 was just 'challenging' but quite easily doable. I also dislike loot in games, but I didn't think they were a big deal in D2.
Thanks Brad! I've had this on my backlog since it was free for PS+, but wasn't sure if I could just jump straight to this w/o playing the first for story.
Darksiders was superb. With number 2, I’m not sure what happened but I just couldn’t handle the camera, fucked me up with nausea. But play 1 though, it’s a goddamn classic and cruelly overlooked.
It's one one of the games that still have on my pc and time to time go and visit it to get lost into the amazing world of darksider. I'm so hyped because of the darksiders 3 that coming up. I'm not big pc game fan but I'm so happy that they making the third one.
with 4 total different horseman with total different personality, total different back history, total different fighting style, total different weapon. I say if this series will keep on growing, every single of the game would be total different playstyle, feature, thus so unic.
Ultimate Gohan I've platted the trilogy on ps3, Vita and Ps4. I never noticed any bugs. Maybe a bit of slowdown during certain moments on Vita, but that's it.
Fak Yuh Googel Jak 2 has some annoying moments but by Jak 3 they fix it. Open world with Haven City and the giant wasteland with mad max style vehicle combat. (Leading in to Jak X) worth playing though.
Yes! This game is so good, highly underrated. The worlds are truly engaging, interesting and fun to explore, and they *feel* deep and real. Sort of like, but not to the same extent, as souls worlds. In so many games the world may even be filled with lore and unique locations and characters and some sort of legends, usually too many, which often don't amount to anything which makes you *feel* like there's something more than just dressings and theme parks. Darksiders II manages environments with feel epic and vast without drowning you in excessive and boring detail, for example like kingdoms of amalur does.
Charlie Wood interesting. I really like the gameplay of KOA but I find the world rather dull, especially the NPCs and their dialogue reall put me to sleep. The locations are beautiful but I feel that only a few have the sense of atmosphere the places in Darksiders 2 has.
Well, Darksiders 2 doesn't have a lot of NPCs though. I do really love the ones it has, but I also really love the NPCs in Kingdoms. I find that what they all have to say is truly engaging, and humorous too. What's especially nice about the dialogue trees in Kingdoms is that each selecion gives you a brief tidbit, you can engage an NPC as much or as little as you like. For instance, a character named Oleander Sinclair is a bumbling murderer and thief who aspires to be an alchemist. Wouldn't you know it, the potion he used to get smart is wearing off, he needs more and is getting dumber by the minute. You'll select a dialogue option, he'll give you information, but then the option will still be highlighted indicating unheard dialogue. So you click it, and the information he gave you just a moment before he can't remember anymore! It's very funy stuff and well delivered, too.
Charlie Wood Yes, I remember that quest. It was one of the more entertaining quests for sure. Well it's interesting, I wonder what makes me not care about the dialogues then, I definitely wish I found them as engaging as you do. I wish I could just flick a switch so I care about what ever fairy I find talks about, but it's almost like I have no patience for their silly lore too. Guess I could role-play a straight to the point kind of character and really only ask them about what important rather than exhaust their dialogue tree.
When I first play a game I never exhaust any dialogue, I'm always skipping cutscenes too. But I replay most games I enjoy, and since I so thoroughly enjoy Kingdoms I got to that place, after completing it several times, that I actually wanted to exhaust the dialogue. I was surprised how consistantly good it actually is.
I love both games but I prefer Darksiders 2. Ironically, I think the first Darksiders has better dungeons and an overall superior plot, but I prefer Darksiders 2 in every other aspect(combat, platforming sections, music, environments, pacing, etc.) and Darksiders 1 has the big sin of presenting itself as a very generic and unimpressive hack & slash instead of showing its appeal right after beginning.
Nocturnal Sure, this quote is accurate after you strip it from it's context. That context being entirely about the plot and how this game covers all the big plot points of the first. There's zero reason to have the reaction you did.
Nocturnal The first game was simpler and had less content and replay ability. I can’t understand why anyone would call it a superior game. The RPG elements gave this game life that the first never had.
Definitely better than the first game but I found this game to have slight pacing issues to keep me completely engaged, especially when exploring; there's too much open space with nothing to do. I'm hopeful the new game will improve on this, though, I'm more worried about the combat since it looked floaty in the previews.
the game is good but it drags so much with the story, i felt that, if it was a bit shorter, the experiencie would have been waaaay better. Also, for trohpyhunters, theres at least 1 trophy glitch (the gnome collect one) so take care with that
Kure Kaiser I think the game is lengthed just fine. I think people are trying to just finish the game without really appreciating the levels and combat by having fun. When I was playing it I wanted an endless mode because the combat and loot progression was so engaging.
Andreas Kleanthous It is really good, hope you'll enjoy your time with it, don't try to rush through the game and really engage with the systems it gives you. A tip would be when choosing weapons go for weapons with combos you enjoy and don't swap weapons just because the stats are better.
Darksiders 2 is by far the most underrated game of the last generation. It's a great game even by today's standard.
I love this game ... Such a criminally underrated masterpiece..
And don't get me started on the amazing soundtrack made by Jesper Kydd...
Thank you guys for highlighting this gem 😁
Indeed. Darksiders 2 is the big titty goth girlfriend of video games. I will love this game until I die.
Bought it twice once for ps3 once for ps4
I never liked it when I first played it, was such a huge change from the first one which I loved.
Started again in the last year or so and I have to say it's so amazing and the story is incredibly rich, loads to do and has really hyped me for ds3
Oh and the soundtrack is done by Jesper kydd, who done borderlands which is my favourite game of all time
Their are 3 epic moments, death vs war, the gardian, samael. The build up, and the ost for these fights are just epic. Still listen to them when I get stung by crippling depression.
Also, Death's voice actor - the guy was absolutely amazing!
Reoyeah Michael Wincott!
I LOVE the scene after you fight the fat angel, they way he says: "Where... is.. the key... WHERE IS IT!!?
This is no place for a horse
Death's voice actor was/is amazing.
YES Brad!! But you forgot to mention that it has some of the best music ever curtesy of Jesper Kyd. Simply superb game, one of my absolute favorites!
I really don't like swearing, but fuck do I love this sound track.
Charlie Wood never could of said it better my self
Every year i start Darksiders 2 all over again and try to 100% it because i just love this game no matter what.

snair This game’s RPG elements are very underrated. Not many DS fans appreciate how the mechanics added depth to the game.
Yes, this is the best weapons system I've seen in 20 years, upgrading them as well.
I loved it. I just feel it was way too easy to exploit the system. You had no limit on how many weapons you could carry and I feel you got quite a lot for the weapons you trade in.
snair you’re not alone
I had this game in my hard drive for a long time because it was free with Xbox Live Gold one month:
I had no idea it looked this good and had no idea it was made in 2012.
Plus the whole death and the four horseman stuff is right up my alley.

Yes! So happy we are talking about this game still. Totally worth everyone's time!

I loved Darksiders 1. It's AWESOME and Darksiders 2 is AWESOME 2.0! Can't wait for 3!
I prefer the first game by quite a margin but I also enjoyed this.
I already really liked Darksiders I but I think the parkour mechanics of DSII elevated it for me. I agree, it`s a really good game!
SonicShenmue Yeah, gave me flashbacks to Prince of Persia.
I'm going to get back into this game
One of my favorite underrated gems. And to think I only bought this game because I had a brand new Wii U (we all know how THAT went, lol) and nothing to play on it. Now I am a fan of the franchise, even if I own the worst possible version of this game.

I remember seeing news about the 3rd one. The series has been somewhere in the back of my mind ever since. I'll give these a shot eventually.
I'm inspired. I've owned this game for years and now I want to play it !
I love both Darksiders games. As a long time franchise fan, they were both more what I wanted from a modern Zelda game than either Skyward Sword or Breath of the Wild were. I love this intro so much! It's my favorite.
This game is brilliant! But also it has one of the best soundtracks ever! I really hope we get a darksiders 3!!!
Darksiders series is in my top 5
Ultima Brad is unstoppable
Loved this game
This is a big contender for my favorite game of all time, it's good that you are recommending it :)
Finished darksiders 2 20 times and still enjoying it today, one of the greatest game ever .

There's just too many unskippable games coming out this year its unfair
I'm assuming you're joking right? Like I agree but even the HD remaster of this is from a few years back
defeatereater he might be talking about Darksiders 3
I would like to hear the arguments of people who dislike videos like this one.
It also has an excellent score. The art suffers a lot by now, but it's engaging enough that I'm replaying it a third time now.
Yes yes YES Brad! Thank you! No matter how much I praise this game to my friends, almost no one took the time to play this series. I Like this game so much and can't quite understand why critics do not give it a good score. I am glad you hype this series as a 3rd one is coming soon and I wouldn't want it to be overlooked. I Got really scared this series was dead when THQ went bankrupt, I am glad Nordic are keeping it alive. Let's hope they will make it shine.
Darksiders 2 is my second favourite game of all time.
What's number 1?
Charlie Wood either Fallout New Vegas or TES Morrowind
Cool :) I really love Darksiders 2 as well :)
I think Darksiders 1 is even better. One of my top 10 fav games of all time.
Knife Guy Gamer I disagree, literally everything is better in the second game. The combat is deeper, smoother, faster and more varied. The level design is more open and intricate with more tools at your disposal. The story is better written with a much more interesting main character. Knife Guy Gamer Lets agree to disagree then. /handshake
handshake :)
Couldn't agree with you more!
What a great game
Also, one of the best examples of the definition of sequel done right
Brad's on a roll. 2 reviews and now this. Wow
I completed the 1st one and thanks to you I'm going to put the second one into my schedule, thanks guys you are awesome
Great review, the graphics look crisp and clear. So many games so little time. Time is against us, Noooooooooooo.
I can't wait for Darksiders 3
The darksiders series is so great
Underrated gem.
This game and it's predecessor are 2 of my favorite Gates of all time
God this is why easy allies is theeeeeee best
Thanks Brad! I've had this on my backlog since it was free for PS+, but wasn't sure if I could just jump straight to this w/o playing the first for story.
Darksiders was superb. With number 2, I’m not sure what happened but I just couldn’t handle the camera, fucked me up with nausea. But play 1 though, it’s a goddamn classic and cruelly overlooked.
Funny to see your comment. I played darksiders 2 when it was on PS+. Tried it for 1 or 2 hours and just could't adjust to the camera.
Few Word Reviews the in both games were almost the same how do you get sick
This game is very underrated
Thank you for covering my favourite game of all time...
Darksiders 1&2 are one of the games you just need to have, Darksiders 3 comes Agustus 8th 2018.
It's one one of the games that still have on my pc and time to time go and visit it to get lost into the amazing world of darksider. I'm so hyped because of the darksiders 3 that coming up. I'm not big pc game fan but I'm so happy that they making the third one.
Adore this game so so good
Played it and liked it.
Darksiders is an amazing franchise!
oh man i love this game!
with 4 total different horseman with total different personality, total different back history, total different fighting style, total different weapon. I say if this series will keep on growing, every single of the game would be total different playstyle, feature, thus so unic.
Idk if he mentions, but the third game is set to come out this year, and all 3 games are set at the same time
Bought the collection , with 1 and 2 , on the PS4... Amazing!!!
This game was so fun. I never played the first one too.
Yeah great games.
This channel fills the sadness that gametrailers passing left us :)
Sounds track in this game is gem.
Don't skip: ZONE OF THE ENDERS: THE 2ND RUNNER!
One of the best games i ever played.
This game remind me of my highschool days
YES! this is why EZA is the best in the biz!
the title itself is a masterpiece
Really wish this would get a release in the switch. I have this for Wii U but ..
Don't skip for Jak trilogy on Ps4. Favorite Ps2 games ever!
Andreas Kleanthous doesnt it looks like crap since its streamed, and have a ton of visual bugs?
Ultimate Gohan I've platted the trilogy on ps3, Vita and Ps4. I never noticed any bugs. Maybe a bit of slowdown during certain moments on Vita, but that's it.
Jak & Daxter (1) is awesome, Jak 2 gave me a bad taste though. And I didn't even try 3 because of that.
Fak Yuh Googel Jak 2 has some annoying moments but by Jak 3 they fix it. Open world with Haven City and the giant wasteland with mad max style vehicle combat. (Leading in to Jak X) worth playing though.
One of my favourite games. I thought everything about it was better than the first game.
Ultima Brad is trying to intimidate the competition.
Best game I ever played.
Got this game when it came to ps+ and I didn’t stop until I got the platinum.
Everyone fears the Reaper.
Yay darksiders 2
Yes! This game is so good, highly underrated. The worlds are truly engaging, interesting and fun to explore, and they *feel* deep and real. Sort of like, but not to the same extent, as souls worlds. "Don't skip Darksiders 2!!”
"Go ahead and skip its superior predecessor though."
so basically a worse game.
Spiderman - The Emissary From Hell Much better combat.Closer to God of war.
Every you said was absolutely right( the only complaint I have from this game is that there was no multiplayer)
I just hope Darksiders 3 will feel like the previous games since it's not the original dev team working on it.
Definitely better than the first game but I found this game to have slight pacing issues to keep me completely engaged, especially when exploring; there's too much open space with nothing to do. I'm hopeful the new game will improve on this, though, I'm more worried about the combat since it looked floaty in the previews.
I liked the 1st game better personnally. This series feels like a Metal Zelda :)
the game is good but it drags so much with the story, i felt that, if it was a bit shorter, the experiencie would have been waaaay better.
In my Opinion Darksiders 2 was better. The weapon System and the Open World are just totaly cool
I really need to finishe this game
Great game, ya maybe a bit too much loot, but great nonetheless. Huge world, tons of side quests, puzzles, platforming, combat. Optional BOSSES!
I actually Prefer darksiders 1 because I did not like the loot system of 2.
The voice in this video, is this the guy that used to do Game Trailers?
Came to ps plus a couple months back and I've had it installed since. I'm playing mad max now, but next game might have to be darksiders 2 now.
Andreas Kleanthous It is really good, hope you'll enjoy your time with it, don't try to rush through the game and really engage with the systems it gives you. A tip would be when choosing weapons go for weapons with combos you enjoy and don't swap weapons just because the stats are better.
Better see some Darksiders 3 at E3! Can't wait!!
Easy Allies thanks for the info Blood. But to quote Darth Vader...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I really don't know why this game gets so much hate, it's one of the best that I've ever played
I loved darksiders 2
Don’t skip this old game!
Like I did 6 years ago!
I always thought that Death was gonna be the last chapter of the 4 but when It was announced back then it cleary was not heh !!
Death is not the leader of the horseman war is the leader
This is no place for a horse
Bro portals are not to travel in time,it is just to move one spot to anotger
Wish they would do a MOBA this smooth
This game has better combat, better art style, better weapon mechanics, and better zones than breath of the wild.
Change my mind.
