This is exactly what I want from Don't Skip. A look at a game I totally missed that I might actually love. Good stuff!
There’s so many don’t skip kind of games on the 3ds now that everybody is skipping because of the switch. 3ds probably had its best year last year with games like FE Echoes, Pokémon, and Metroid it’s such a shame so many are getting overlooked.

YO! I'm currently playing it (DS version).
I'll say this, those who like dramas with political intrigue AND Time Travel, holy smokes this game is for you. It's far more mature than most JRPGs and takes it's plot seriously.
I'm going to give this game a shot based on what you said. Mature JRPGs with a serious plot are hard to find. Plus you mentioned political intrigue which brings some of my favorites like FF Tactics, Vagrant Story, and Tactics Ogre to mind. So if it's anything like those then I'm all in. Is it completely free from weird sexist Japanese stuff? As in, underage barely clothed girls, "tsundere anime behaviour" or stuff like that? Because it sounds great but I can't stand those tropes.
kenshokram Certainly not. Most Atlus game (excluding recent Personas and Catherine) don't delve in that stuff.
Plus the game takes for more inspiration from western war stories, with magic and time travel thrown in.

BLACKx114 Yasumi Matsuno's work is definitely seemed an inspiration here. From the tone and setting, to mechanics.
Can confirm that Radiant Historia is fantastic. It's up there with The World Ends With You for Best Nintendo DS RPG (even though they are entirely different, which makes it even better).
I have the remake, but I did play the original and still remember it quite vividly. I'll play the remake when a replay is on the cards.
This game never comes up in anyone’s top tens that I’ve seen yet it looks and sounds amazing
It’s easily the best original DS JRPG if you don’t count Chrono Trigger.

I am so happy to see a don't skip of this! Radiant Historia is my personal favorite rpg of all time, and I was very happy with the remake. Neither game is perfect, and the remake does improve some things but also make a few things worse in my opinion. Either way you play, though, there is so much good that this game has to offer! I'm happy to see ANYTHING about it on EZA, and I hope now more people will get to experience it as well, as it always had terrible timing for its release, both for the original and its remake.

Happy to see this game receiving your attention, allies! Not only it had a very engaging and unique battle mechanics, but the story is also incredibly deep and rewarding. The ending is superb.
The secondary market prices on this game are INSANE - now I gotta buy it digitally (I know, it’s my fault for sleeping on it, but still)

The world is very small and kinda empty. DQ 11 is so much better real masterpiece.
Played the demo not too long ago, and I was really digging it. Ben gave me all the reassurance I need that this’ll be worthy of my time after I’m through with DQ8.

This game is fantastic, I played the DS version a couple of years back and would love to play the remake. So many games at the moment so it's on the backburner but I also highly recommend it, what an awesome JRPG that is so deep.
Radiant Historia was, by far, my favorite DS game ever. So glad to see this getting the love it deserves.

I really enjoyed seeing the base game stuff. I have yet to finish the extra content, which so far doesn't seem too substantial, but for someone who never played the original game this was all a great new experience.
I do have to say, it didn't necessarily feel like many things in the game blew me away (and the story took a few cliches I was hoping against) but on the other hand it was a solid ride all the way through. I guess that's pretty similar to how I felt about 7th Dragon III.

They got a massive new audience from the fund raiser they recently threw..chill out, Jones said this is a new chapter for eza, and they need to do stuff like that intro to bring new fans up to speed.

This game was already great back when it came out on the DS. I haven't played this version, but an improved version can only be better. Only real complain I think I've heard is with regards to some of the redone art.

It feels so good to see Radiant Historia getting the praise and respect that it deserves. For the longest time this one was overlooked, and it didn't help that the initial print run was absolutely tiny.

A 40 second intro to what don't skip is is a little much. Maybe condense it down to two quick lines. That said, the episode was great and I hope to see more. This is one of my favorite JRPGs I have ever played

I would agree that Brandon is the best suited for VO work on videos however I think Barry and I were just trying to say it would be a fun thing to at least try. Personally I feel like this kind of lighthearted review like series could benefit from a fun experiment of mixing it up.
+Spiderman - The Emissary From Hell thanks, I’m well aware it’s different from talking on a podcast. I thought Ben was very competent on his Demo Disc video in March. You can only get the kind of ‘experience’ Jones has from being given the opportunity that something like Don’t Skip provides.

If it was on switch or any other console I might be playing this but 3ds is tough to come back to for me...
I wanted to get this game when it first came out (the 3DS version), but I had too many JRPG's I was working on at the time. Now I've either beaten them or have mostly given up. So now I'm tempted to get it, but it's expensive and I'm not sure I'm ready to commit to another time sucking JRPG on the 3DS. Dang this indecisiveness! And it's probably not going to get any cheaper.

though the soundtrack is a little lacking, its really good but there is like what 27 tracks?
The battle themes in particular sort of make up for it, it’s a smaller soundtrack than say, Bravely Default, but in that similar vein

I have this game but haven't played it yet. This don't skip persuaded me to jump on.
I initially thought it was just a final fantasy-type "'A' button to get through the shitty gameplay so you can read more story" game (which I'm not too fond of), but seeing how there are actual tactics to combat draws me in much closer than before.

I remember playing the original years ago and being disappointed at how linear the game really was, despite the focus on branching timelines. Though in retrospect it was me going in with the wrong expectations.

I played it back on DS and I thought the game was incredible. I'll pass on this one though because honestely the artstyle they used in this version doesn't look as good as the old one unfortunately... I even quite dislike it.
