Reactors having a hard time feeling empathy for a literal 15-16 year old whose parents are held hostage is crazy.

Main issue is that it's a pretty shit side character that noone really cares about that much, especially since most of the time he is just annoying/ irrelevant.
Having an important thing like that, and suddenly trying to make him seem like a deep character out of nowhere just doesn't work, since theres not much of a reason for the viewer to care either way.
For example, if it was like Uraraka or something people would actually feel betrayed by her as the viewer and it would actually be saddened by that, rather than it being forced.

なんか日本人には理解できない反応って言ってるけど外国の彼等と我々日本人との視聴状況が違いすぎる
・まず日本語が分からないから字幕に視線が行きアニメーションを十分に楽しめない（キャラクターの表情や細かい演出を取りこぼす）、どの文言に声優の感情が込められてるのか分からない
・文法的問題（有名な例で挙げるとハイキューの月島が牛若のスパイクを止めた時に『〜待ってたよ』が日本語だと最後に来るが英語だと序盤にくる）
・日本人の性格上複数人で見てたとしてもリアクションをあまり体現せず心に留めるので彼等みたいに短なディスカッションが起こりにくい
あたかも自分達と同じ状況かの如く『理解出来ない』と一蹴するのは思慮に欠ける。
The thing you said about subtitles, actually it's because of language wording I mean in Japanese you say
"I apple ate" but in English it is
"I ate an apple" so sometimes for bigger sentence position are changed but the meaning stays the same.
日本のゲーム実況者でも視聴者との会話に夢中になってゲームの一番リアクションが気になるシーンで無反応とかよくあるし、感性の違いっていうより身内と会話するタイミングが悪かったって感じじゃないかな？
