Now we have uncovered all of the damage on my salvage #mercedes #amg GT it's time to get to work on some of the damage which I really didn't want to find. So I have ordered the structural repair parts from #mercedesbenz but can we fit them at home in my DIY garage?
Also after lots of hunting we also manage to get in touch with the previous owner of the car and he helps us uncover all the hidden truths about the car.

The past owner was a fantastic surprise and a gentleman, it's nice to get some past info.

You need to be very careful using a small belt sander when the draw strings if your hoodie are hanging about loose near the revolving belt. If it catches the string within a second or two you could be sanding your face or neck!!! That would not be a pretty sight.

In case anyone else hasn't mentioned this already - copart will cancel your account and block you from purchasing other cars from them with your name, address etc if they find out youve contacted the previous owner of a vehicle you've purchased to try and find out stuff, obtain spare keys etc. which sucks but im guessing its GDPR related. Maybe if you're a CZcamsr you can get way with it😉 Keep up the good work Chris, love the vids!

I would go for the black on black dash, and I’m sure grey on the seats will look fine, maybe even better without it being too grey. Look forward to the next upload 🙌
The grey seat inserts could easily be changed to black. My 2015 E Class Merc had imitation rather than real leather, which was painted black by the factory. Not sure if this top end Merc has similar. Just had my F Type seat scratches (real leather) repaired by an upholsterer who matched the colour and used an airbrush, so I don’t see why the grey couldn’t be changed to match the all black dash - would be cheaper than full re trim.
Also, as you are going to the Nurburgring have you thought of reaching out to Micha? He might have some contacts to supply the rad pack. Good luck with the build.

Has it had previous damage too? 6.53 - 7.00 when you remove the door seems to show damage at the end of the bar where it attaches to the inner wing? Keep up the great work. Love it!

Buy the black on black dash. All the existing grey can then be re-dyed / painted black to match. I know a full black interior is a little dull, but it’ll save you money to focus on the more important bits
Depending on how badly damaged the radiators are, you can them repaired by a specalist like Boston Motorcool I believe they may not be far from you.

What you bought is what you have, Cat S write-offs have suffered damage to structural areas of the vehicle such as the chassis or crumple zones. A Category S car can be repaired and put back to a roadworthy condition and used on the road again. However, the car must pass an inspection by an accredited engineer

Loving this series, and if it was me repairing it, surely getting the black dashboard and re-trimming some parts grey, would be more cost effective than re-trimming the seats ? Keep it as original as poss' IMO, especially as it was spec'd up by Roger Taylor.
Saw one of these in Milan with a black satin wrap and then all the chrome was gold plated and it looked unreal, maybe an idea. Would love one of these cars they look serious, cant wait to see it finished.
I’d go black on black with the dash, that previous owner sound like a statement from Sir Norman Fry off little Britain had not been drinking, wasn’t speeding some how my car flew over another road and through a wall…

When removing a Mercedes wheel, always leave one bolt in (Just loosened) before you knock it loose. Saves your appendages.

Great work as always but I'm afraid it's good luck with Copart for breaking terms and conditions with regards contacting the previous owner.
I would be trying to restore this back to how it was ordered now you know who the famous original owner is, I think this will give the car its biggest return for you
If you check out your old dash parts on the bottom might come off and go on the new dash that you buy. As far as the radiator packs BMW should be the same exact match and when you're buying parts don't tell them it's a AMG because they will charge you more and the regular parts are the same parts. its quite easy to smash the spinning collars off the locking wheel nut without damaging wheel
If you can not find the exact part than I would suggest to get the same airbags repaired some people are repairing the dashboards and seatbelts
Black dash with yellow stiching and then go for yellow seatbelts when you refurbish them
if you do a quick google there's a Breakers near Wigan called Douglas valley, they do a lot of high end cars, they may have parts for you.

I am more into vintage cars, but there radiators are also problematic. We normally get them repaired. There is a company in Berlin who does it. However, the radiators on modern cars are made in aluminium, which they might not do. But perhaps it is a matter of price and if a new one is very expensive, it still might make sense to do it. I am shure there a companies in the UK that repair radiators, at least for vintage cars. It might be worth asking!

Dashboard can be repaired the airbag team or similar companies can send it away and have it done for you, also if copart see your vid they will block your account as part of the rules is you can get in touch with previous owner so just be careful mate

Be careful about contacting previous owners, Copart gave me a 3 month ban for doing that. says not to in their T's & C's apparently.
By your own admission, you did not get scammed. Why does everyone claim everything to be a scam these days. You are better than that chris, you've enough experience by now to know the score. Great to see you coming along but use it as a chance to show your knowledge rather than going for the cheap clicks. Also be careful of the gdpr issues with pro actively contacting previous owners and worse showing numbers on the screen 😮

You can get that dashboard repaired is no problem from around 500£.the airbag team you showed dashboard is repaired as well but not to keen on their job quality personally.

Wheel nut lock socket usually in boot under floor, or behind side trim where pockets sometimes are, but not sure on this, cars like this are main dealership maintained just don’t get many newer Mercedes parts on line, why are you surprised by Mercedes prices, did you not check first ? Best of luck.
