I used to play a lot of the jazz standards. HARD stuff. If you dont keep up with it, it's easy to forget. Lately, I've been getting back into it. It's coming back. Larry is one of my guitar heroes. Recently, found another great one from the old days which is the hardest guitar music to cover. Jimmy Bruno. That is one of the ones who established jazz standards. Him, Pass, and Martino. I think Larry. I couldn't believe it when i seen Larry play SO WHAT. That's impossible guitar right there!
This concert at the Blue Note Tokyo is just pure musical delight! Everyone in the band is just so groovy and musical, no excessive riffing, Carlton's guitar playing is so tasteful, imagine being an audience that evening. Great stuff here, even if it's coming from a VHS. Cheers!
Wow, Larry's come a long way since muscle shirts and lit cigarettes in his hand while playing. God bless him and his son... and all who glorify God with music.
This probably sounds ridiculous but he uses the guitar with all its possibilities much like Jimi Hendrix. They both coax and wring everything out of their instruments
I think so. I saw the North American version of this tour, different band, somewhat different set list and different electric guitars:-) Smiles is great on both vids of this 90/91 tour (the other is from Montreal I think). Larry is just superb on everything here.. Really like Emotions Wound Us So on this one. Wow
That first song is so groovy that every time that i watch this video, I still get chills. I love Larry's playing.

He's great for sure, but if you listen, there is a tambourine track in the first song for instance, so he is playing to a click.

私は79年日本ライブ2回ほど行きましたがすごかった！髪はロックミュージシャン並みに有りましたし
何方かと云うと終始ロックしてました。
当時は著作権が甘くFMでも彼の来日時のライブが流されておりカセットテープ（笑）に収めてます。
知ら無いと思いますが五輪真弓さんのバックもやったりしてその録音もありますが、超勢いのある
ルカサーのようなプレーでした。私は90年頃迄のカールトンが好きですた。

1980頃のroom335から彼のギタープレイに心酔してますが、今になってこんなすごいライブ映像が見られるなんて感激です。私より一回り年上の人ですが、つい最近の演奏している映像がありました。驚きです。私にとってはリーリトナーと共にギターの神様ですが、リーリトナーが精密機械的なクラシックに通じる旋律の美しさ、ラリーカールトンは伸びやかな遊び心が感じられます。
This is my favorite concert by Larry. He was really at his peak here. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!

いるギタージジイですが1960〜70年、クルセーダーズ時代のラリーカールトンやスタッフのコーネルデュプリーの動画を見るにつけ、当時ジャズ、ブルース、ロックが融合した時代だつたこと実感しました。ストラトでルーム335を弾いている貴重な動画ではないでしょうか。生のギターからストラトまで弾きこなし、全ての音がいいライブです。すばらしい。 4:24

すごいって感じる所詮日本のミュージシャンは模倣なんだな・・
でも、先日CZcamsで70年台初期サスディクスミカバンド？故加藤和彦のバンドの英国ツアー？のTVライブ
見たらなんとギターは高中さん、ベースは後藤さん、ドラム高橋さん（その後YMO）でした。
高中さんは故成毛氏のバンドでベーシスト辞めて加藤さんのミカバンドに加わった時期と思われます。
あのイメージの高中さんではなくかなりフュージョンでカールトンよりでした！！その後作曲家となった
後藤さんのベースもいけてます！！
以外にフォークイメージの加藤さんがファンキーなカッティングでギターで驚きましたわ。
高中さんもメジャーで売りに走る前は成毛滋、つのたひろさんトリオでロッカーでしたし
その後も暫くは飛んでました！！
