I think they portray Carole Baskin a lot worse than she is. Here’s how she is not a hypocrite. Her main issue is the breeding of large cats in captivity. She’s trying to outlaw that so you won’t have these animals kept in cages and abused their whole lives. Cats rescued from these parks cannot be returned to the wild, so they have to go somewhere. She takes the cats in, and to afford keeping them sells tickets for people to just see the cats. I’m not so naive that I think 100% of that money is going towards the cats, but a larger portion is since everyone who works for her are volunteers.
Here’s the important part: she is not breeding cats. Under her legislation, in a perfect world, there will be no large cats bred in captivity. If there are no cats then eventually her cats will die off with no continuous stream of new ones. That’s what she’s fighting for. For her cages to go empty. She’s not a hypocrite.
