Time for an updated cell phone mount vid Ryan.
i second that!!! we neeeeed a 2019 vid!
Same!
I’ve had two phones come out of the Ram Xmount on my bikes, at speed. Also the rubber feet fall off over time.
@@songojune How fast are we talking? Ton up?
Just bought a Ciro 3d and I like it.
Ryan, I know this review is 3 years old but I’ve been hearing concerns about cellphone mounts and vibrations killing new phone’s OIS sensors. This seems like a perfect scientific problem for you to solve - most shock absorbent phone mounts.
Not just concerns about vibration but down right angst. Killed my iPhone 11 Pro not knowing about the vibration issue. Then went back to my 7 for a bike phone/gps (having to manage 2 phones since I wasn’t going to abandon my 11 due to the cost and awesome photo quality). Waited for months till I found quad lock which sold a $150ish set up that claimed to have a vibration dampening system built just for the iPhone. Well that turns out to BS with a side crap. After riding for a couple months (I’m a daily rider rain or shine) and found my camera starting to fail again or at her the autofocus failing because the vibrations damaged the gyros.
Would be awesome if some actually researched their product and could tell us which mount to use.
Looks like I’ll have to down grade to an android lol
@@comptrjnky I was actually thinking about using an old iPhone 7 or even a 6 for GPS. Ultimately I picked up the Beeline. It's winter in the Northeast US right now and the bike is away. But all accounts say it's a pretty damn good GPS. We shall see.
@@comptrjnky downgrade? It will objectifely be an upgrade lol
Apple’s camera OIS worked just fine until they started using multiple lenses. An iPhone 7, 8 or 2020 SE will be just fine. Forget any later iPhone with multiple lenses and get a GoPro.
@@tunak4941 Still can’t figure out why so many riders are obsessed with android phones, yikes

Better to fish a hump than hump a fish 😊
Ryan is the best presenter for bike accessories reviews I've ever seen. The humor mixed with incredible research along with the production quality is what makes this so entertaining and educational.
I don't think anyone could argue the fact that your videos are superbly produced. I wish all things in life were this well made.
I couldn't recommend getting a Ram mount more if I tried. Really bloody happy with the one I've bought and have had no issues with it
Thanks Ryan, well informed review as always.
5 years later, could be interesting to see a review with new products on the market.
You just answered my prayers. I've been looking for phone mount like for 4 hours now :) Nice video :)
Haha cool timing! ~RyanF9
lol same here 😂
+FortNine hey F9, what if i have no handlebar space and dont have access to my stem nut? my 2015 MT07 has woodcraft clipons and the adapter covers the stem nut..
Hey! You've got a couple options there. A mirror mount (fortnine.ca/en/shad-cell-phone-holder-mirror-bracket) is a good choice. We also carry a RAM Mounts base that attaches to the brake assembly (fortnine.ca/en/ram-mounts-brake-clutch-base). There are a few other options from RAM too - bolt head mounts, reservoir cover mounts and gas tank bases. Check out this page for all of them: www.rammount.com/activity/motorcycle-bases. Hopefully one of those will work for you. Good hunting. ~RyanF9
Awesome job! Your review is very thorough!
Nice job man. Great info thanks for taking to time to make the video . I'm getting the ram mount
After watching this video, I bought Ram toughclaw and I have to say, that is the best investment I ever made.Thank you Ryan and keep up the good work!
"cheap as hell, just $36"
me: cries in 3rd world
36 us dollars here is 360 dollars , and i make 1500 a month. That's right , my paycheck for a month is 150 us dollars , aint that awesome
@@pareshlalta792 Damn, what country do you live in????
@@pareshlalta792 36 dollars here is like 1,800 in our currency, and we make 9,600 a month so uhm yeah
@@pareshlalta792 I feel you
What do you know man? $36 USD is 630,000 in our currency and I barely make 3 million a month
Thank you, this helped me a lot. I never knew about the stem mount, it works perfect for my bike.
This is a great help. I have been looking for a phone mount solution for a while and this answers the questions I had. Thanks!
Your reviews are so on point
Tackform for the win. All I needed to hear was a motorcycle cop review saying they are so solid they use them for their whole fleet. I bought one and absolutely LOVE it!
Great video man. Straight to the point, concise, informative and hilarious. Keep it up buddy, thanks!
I love it that you mentioned being able to use it in your canoe!
I love the honest reviews!
You're my "go-to" motorcycle vlogger nowadays - good job!
RAM also has a simple bolt with a ball attached that replaces one of your bar riser bolts. Then you attach a 2 ball extension to it. I use it in my Triumph and it's rock solid.
Oh that's clever! Never played with one of those, but it sounds great. ~RyanF9
@@FortNineWhy didn't you mention Rokform? (...or was ot not a thing when this video was made?)
Great reviews and superb production. My goto resource for objective reviews. Thanks F9.
6 years old yet still relevant. Thanks for the video.
You are the best review channel for motorcycles. Keep it up homie
Another great review! Thanks!
Definitely been meaning to get a RAM mount, this was really helpful. Thanks!
Superb review. To the point, entertaining and above all - accurate.
Just the info I needed, thanks
thank you, i requested this review awhile back
Excellent as always!
I agree with you ram mounts are the best
Would love to see a similar video about different GoPro mounting options. Great channel, keep it up!
still love my RAM mount after 3+ years. holds my phone with a death grip they are not “idiot” proof but in the right hands they work awesome!
Concise and informative.
My Ram quad with x amount is a few years old now and it still works great for me and it also holds smaller GPS as well perfectly fine.
I am surprised that you only have 539k followers. The quality of videos produced, the knowledge presented, and the information provided on this channel forces me question the motorcycle community (on CZcams). Massive views for motorcycle videos should not be generated by reckless stunts, dangerous acts, or illegal actions. Creators should be praised and rewarded for content that makes everyone who rides: safer and more informed. In my opinion you should have a lot more subscribers, but I am confident that your following will continue to grow. I say that in the most respectful way possible. The knowledge provided in your videos gives an energy to a slowly but surely declining youth-driven motorcycle community. The videos you post are not only helpful, but highly informative. These videos help people (myself included) gain a better understanding about motorcycles as a whole. These videos also do an amazing job addressing specific issues people may face when determining what is right for them. I thank you for spending your time creating such quality content. It does not go unnoticed. After following your channel, and watching a fair amount of the content you produce: I feel that I am much more confident; not only in purchasing decisions, but riding as well. I always take your suggestions into consideration when looking into new parts, helmets, tires, exhausts, you name it. Your videos have helped me understand so much; from choosing my first bike, to what tires I should get. You go so far in depth on every single topic you talk about, and the detail makes these videos unrivaled. The videos you provide on your channel are not only very helpful for myself, but have proven invaluable to the people I have recommended them to.
Please continue to keep up the good work. Thanks!
Great review bro! I'm getting that ram tough claw
I watched 1 video then ...boom ... All my watched videos for the last 3 days are for this guy ... thanks for creating such a clever and incredible content
Man, thanks for getting straight to the point.
I love your videos mate !! Keep going !!
Really well put together video. Thankyou
No Quadlock? By far the simplest and the best I've used
MotoPig NY they don’t stock it
*Rokform is better, love this thing
love my quad lock.
quadlock is shit. stop promo'ing it. you need to ues that stupid case on your phone to use with a big indentation on the back
Number one problem with quad lock and rockform is they're only actually good for iPhone and some Samsung. You have to have a smooth plastic case and buy the optional adhesive mount. You have to be an idiot to trust adhesive. My choice of stem mount is TechMount.
Ram claw mount is amazing!!!
very helpful video. thank you very much for posting
Great video. Thank you!
Lot of humour on this one, love it ! :D
You always come in "clutch"!!!!!
Thanks for the review
I used the Aduro u-grip and it was great! Less than $15 as well. It was on my Ninja 300, but I sold it a few weeks ago and there’s no space for anything on the cbr600rr so I’m going to have to pick up the fork stem mounts
Ram mount for the gps on my GS, been fantastic for over 20k miles now! Well worth the outlay as its built as well as the bike!
Great video man. You look pretty young but this video is professionally done. You picked up another subscriber. I look forward to watching more of your content.
Good job very informative!
Used the ram mount x grip with the rubber keeper. Kept my phone nice and secure in a crash. Hell, I had to turn off my bluetooth afterwards because my music was still playing.
Oh damn - hope you healed up alright after the crash? Glad that X-Grip did its job though! ~RyanF9
Doing alright now. I was impressed with how well the ram mount worked though. I figure that was a good crucible for the mount. The phone didn't even budge.
It's funny that you mentioned that lol, I crashed with the X grip too last year and my phone stayed snug. I am just now finishing the final touches on my rebuild of my bike, I took the rest of last season off to basically rework the entire bike while it was out of commission. That mount is still on my handlebars to this day lol
I have the Ram Mount with the fork stem. Awesome mount and it held on to my phone during a tank slapper.
Good review man, you should do a 2019 version
He should be a tv host! So clean and professional
Hey Ryan F9, nice video as always :)
I’ve used the Ramm mount for years. Even with losing a rubber peg, it still grabbed my iPhone 6+ in a case with ease.
As someone who has a ram mount on an R1, I love it, it has never failed me even at high speeds I never worry about it falling off
Can i ask you what brand? And for what phone? I recently bought an R6 and I'm looking for a cellphone mount.
Perfect Squeeze phone mount is the way to go and I’ve tried them all.
Great vids man!
You read my mind dude! Was just looking into this for the ducati monster 1200.
Thanks bro I just ordered one
Buy a taotronics smartphone mount from amazon (the one with side clamps) and buy a quick lock navigation mount from ebay.
Costs together ca. 20€, the smartphone mount is removable very easy and fast and looks very clean and low profile!
Plus the taotronics mount is absolutly awsome :)
Your content is amazing. Subbed.
Great review and I agree!
Subscribed, followed you on Twitter and Instagram, and liked you on Facebook... Your videos are awesome! Although I don't own a bike (yet), very fun to watch your reviews
What kind or bike did you get?
Thank you for the info.
great compare vid. thanks
Thanks for this info
The RAM forkstem mount works well but not if you follow the included mounting instructions. The problem is the included hardware includes a single locknut that tightens to a point that the bottom plastic nut pocket washer (Part F) that grabs the rubber just rotates and the whole assembly does not tighten inside the fork stem hole. The way to fix this is as follows. Instead of cutting the rubber 1/8" above where it meets the forkstem per the instructions - cut it at the point where it meets the forkstem. Reduce the distance between the top cut and the bottom cut to about 3/4" rather than the 1" stated in the instructions. Next - buy an additional 5mm nut from Home Depot (not a locking nut). When assembling the mount washer (Part E) should be a size that is slightly smaller than the diameter of the fork mount hole (so it can slide down inside the fork mount. As you put together the whole assembly the instructions put the 5mm nut on first to it goes into the bottom of part F and behaves like a captive nut. This is not a lock nut and will now spin properly when the main screw is tightened. Next put one of the extra smaller washers and the brass locknut (Part D) below the extra Home Depot nut (that is now sitting inside Part F). Tighten Part F until there is just a small amount of vertical movement in rubber cone (Part A). Then tighten locknut so that it and the washer above it press lightly against Part F. The bottom washer and the lockout will now prevent Part F and your Home Depot Locknut from falling off when the assembly is loosened (if you want to remove it). New insert the whole assembly into the fork stem and tighten the screw. Everything should now tighten properly. If you want you can add a bit of locktite to the screw thread on the Home Depo nut - it can prevent it from coming lose as this is not a locknut however I'm quite content to periodically check the tightness of the mount and add a 5 mm Allen key to the bike's toolkit just in case it ever needs tightening while out on a long trip.
Been running the Ram Mount on the Lucky Daves Lucky 13 handlebars on my 2016 HD Lowrider since purchase. Lost my phone out of the mount at just shy of 100 mph with a STRONG crosswind. The phone was in a LIFEPROOF case and alive when found! I immediately bought the safety web and some extra rubber boots and never an issue since!
JZilla76 man the same thing happened to me today. I was passing a car around 100 mph and my phone flew out my ram mount. I have the safety web and that delayed it flying off so that was the only reason why I was able to catch my phone
you really know how to review a product, great video
Ram mount works awesome, I ride crazy enduro and trials and never had it fallen, even when I crash , The issue I had was I flipped over the bars one day and ram mount dug into my stomach, I have a phone shaped bruise , got checked for internal bleeding , probably not the safest mounting area on the bars.
good video, nice options. however, I use slip grip car mounts. They will send you a preformed case with any ram mount attachment for your car/motorcycle. The best part is that they will specify what case you have on your phone so that it will always fit no matter what. Never had an issue with this thing with 2 motorcycle crashes.
You could pull of a Joffrey cosplay so good :D!
Very well done video 👍🏼👏🏼
I went with the Ram Mount. It's awesome. They also have so many different configurations that you can build a set up for any phone to work with any placement on the motorcycle. I recommend using the rubber web to secure the phone. The x-grip itself doesn't seem to grip well enough if you hit a big bump.
My phone fell twice and got smashed
I love your videos 😂 you’re one funny dude lol!! You remind me of my little brother lol you guys have almost the same personality !
This could not of come at a better time, was just looking for a mount..tired of trying to get my phone out while riding. Great humor too lmao
Bravo. That was educational and you made me laugh twice.
I installed the ram short ball-mount to my steering nut the large 32 mm (I think) nut I bought a spare and drilled a hole screwed the ball-mount on the nut and tightened.after that all you need is a clamp and a mobile (cell) mounted box with a ball end attached.
Just got some RAM mounts!! Is the best one. Period! And you have many different mount options.
I really like the bar mounted RAM mount that I have. I would 100% recommend on for a more conservative riding. However my phone flew out of the mount during a wheelie. Thankfully I found it in some bushes, but from now on if I'm doing wheelies the phones going in my jacket. I realize that its probably not designed to hold a phone for wheelies but just a warning to others so you don't have to spend 2 hours searching in bushes for your phone.
Overall I'm very happy with my fork stem RAM mount (cbr250). Very easy to install. I have had to tighten it somewhat after some miles but it holds my phablet (note4) beautifully and securely with the teether. Great video - this would have been helpful for me when I was shopping for a mount...hmmm maybe I should re-word that lol.
Hey bro, you are the f*king lord commander of motorcycle gadget real life testing experience, I really appreciate what you do, the time you invest doing it and the great attitude you do it with, thanks to you know I know I have to go with ram fork stem mount for my GSXR1000R 2017, I already had been thinking and comparing for 2 months and now thanks to you and this video I have made my mind 😃, please keep doing this videos because you have vocation for this 🤗live long ride safe and good roads 🤙🏽
Time for YET ANOTHER cell phone mount vid, Ryan.
i have the ram xgrip and it Works great
I'm now looking for the RAM Clamp for my 82 XJ 750 Maxim!
Hi! This is a great review - Thanks for your kind words. Would you mind if we shared it on our social media networks here in the UK? Cheers!
Hey - thanks! Yep, feel free to share wherever. ~RyanF9
I really wish I could buy from Fortnine the honesty in the reviews is really refreshing.
Please set up in the UK
Talking about the ball joint arm made me think of Jobbythehong. And I doubt anyone here watches his videos. As always, great video. Never get tired of seeing that lovely adv in the back.
Ive got the fork stem on my 2012 CBR600rr and I love it!
Noticed any rust yet? Had a CBR250r that started rusting because of the small gap between the fork stem and the little plate thingy.
Nope, no rust. i also keep my bike covered though
Great videos. You are a very talented young man.
i just use a gel casing, bolted on my ram mount. easy peasy.
I've been through a couple of mounts & have found the Ram X grip holder by far the best for general practicality.
I just put a 2"x5" strip of industrial strength Velcro loop material on the back of my phone case, and then I put velcro hook wherever I want to mount it. A patch of velcro hook on my gas tank is all I need to hold my phone securely. It dampens vibrations, it's grip gets stronger when shook or twisted, yet the phone comes off easily with one hand.
I like the Quadlock myself. But the ram
Mount is also one of the best for most applications.
Usefull stuff!!
