Nurburgring Newbie - Lap 1 June 23, 2024

Haricot Vert on the Green Hell. Lap 1 is my first ever lap here, in the totally appropriate MK7 Golf GTI Nurbspec from Nurblife. I had originally selected a Porsche GT3RS from another company, but they canceled two weeks earlier without giving a reason. I did more research for recommendations for the uninitiated, and despite having over 1500 laps at race tracks in the USA, concluded that a lower powered, but still track-prepped and focused vehicle was more appropriate. Nurblife came up repeatedly in my research and I made arrangements with them about ten days in advance. In retrospect the updated choice of car was wise (and much more cost-effective!). I also had only booked a single lap with an instructor, but last minute had the presence of mind to request this for the full three laps I had booked. Fortunately they were able to accommodate me! I had arrived about an hour ahead of my scheduled drive time, and was glad to have the pre-drive prep and safety video occur at an unhurried pace. It was a great experience with the Nurblife folks! I would happily go with them again.
The video for this lap starts while we are already underway as both of us forgot to start the camera! My intent was simply to get a look at the entire circuit on this first lap, taking it easy. Subsequent laps got progressively quicker as my comfort level and familiarity with the car increased.
