I’m business u have to negotiate and have contracts in place to get what u believe u are worth. Many of these complaints are simply the result of bad business decisions.
Most artists especially back then who were coming from the streets weren't educated in business especially in complex business contracts in the music industry so putting all your trust in a guy that comes from the same type of upbringing and had been in the business for years would feel like the natural thing to do which could wind up being good or very bad.
@@brooklynbasementpodcast yeah, Cuban has good intentions and a good heart but unfortunately that’s not how business works. You can’t apply those street ethics to business. I’m sure he was a loyal dude but also a bit of a loose cannon and his talent isn’t to the level where that risk could be accepted. He also doesn’t understand the work and financial investment had to make to get pun poppin. There was a lot of lyrical rappers in the 90s who never got far. Everyone in DITC is nicer than Joe but they were limited in terms of business and marketing themselves into that next level. That just can’t be denied, I mean Joe is still relevant, that speaks volumes. And honestly, I’ve never purchased a Fat Joe record. Outside of lean back, his music doesn’t move me but he’s a media and marketing genius. Look what he did with Remy when she came home n peace’s it out, crazy. Chris Rivers to my knowledge has never asked Joe for shit nor does he expect anything. Fat joes own son raps (super wack 😭) Joe an it co-sign him either lmao

Many business partners have life insurance policies on each other or on employees or in puns case artist they’ve invested in. Nothing wrong with that. In fact it makes sense. If you stand to loose significant money by the death of a business partner or artist you’ve invested in, u purchase a life insurance policy to cover the potential loss. Imagine the position Puns wife n his children would have been in had they paid into a life insurance policy on Pun 🤷♂️no living in a shelter or struggling.
Good point and I believe he mentioned that he understood why the other executives did it but it was for other reasons that he had an issue with Joe in that situation.
