the scariest aspect for a lot of photographers (or is it just me?) is that ‘mid-range’ is 3k euros for the body only….
It's mid-range for the Nikon Z product line, not by price of the overall market. The Z line has always been overall more expensive than the market average due to Nikon dedicating themselves to only making "Pro" level gear. Kind of like if Hasselblad or Leica decided to release a stripped down, less powerful camera it would still be considered "mid-range" in the context of their product lines. Or if Fujifilm or Panasonic released a mid-range it would be around 900-1200 in the context of their product lines, with their top of the line products being in the 1600-2000 range. It's just the way brands decide to price their products and how much money went in to R&D for the creation of new technology.
Photographers desperately need to learn to be happy with what they have and realize that not every manufacturer will make a product that is within budget.

The R6 II is also $2500. I do not know why the EU and Australia are making the prices ramp up that much with newer products.
Also, Nikon is keeping the price competitive considering the high inflation rate.

Somehow vari-angle screens are now equated to "vlogging". I had a Powershot A610 way before vlogging was a thing, and it had a vari-angle screen. I like it. Makes it easy to shoot from low angles in both portrait and landscape orientation. Yes, ok, other solutions do that as well, but so what? This does too. I mean... isn't it nitpicking?
not nitpicking, i bought a camera with one and after a few months sold it because of the flippy screen. i find it a hassle to use compared to a tilting screen. many are dissing those who dislike the flippy screen but it will catch up to the camera companies since there will be a large group of photographers who will go elsewhere. loss of revenue means less development for Canon, maybe Nikon, maybe Sony, etc. Canon only offers the flippy and I abandoned them for this reason. smartphone cameras have advanced to the point where these camera mfgs. are struggling to keep up. i will be happy to use a smartphone before buying a camera with a flippy.
Vari angle screens are older technology than flip outs. Early 2000s cameras all had vari angles
I love the variance screens I’ve had on my canons. I do t blog or anything. It’s great to use for high and low angles.
I used it to shoot better angles of a bull moose in Montana last year. Spent like 20 minutes holding my r6ii and 70-200 f4 over my head. It’s useful.
The price is a little high for me, Panasonic is probably my go to. If I was looking for a Nikon camera id probably look for the Z8 for a little more.
Yea, the GH7 might very well bring me back to LUMIX.
I don't see any reason upgrading from Z6ii.
I'm big on ergonomics so the fatter body is a big win for me. Like the evolution from Sony A7III to A7IV.

I can't justify spending another $1000 for the Z8 when my Z6 workhorse is already a SOLID camera. The Z6iii is a GIGANTIC upgrade for Z6 users. I'll save myself $1000 and get the Z6iii :)
You are correct, there were alot of other tubers that had anywhere from 3-4 months with a pre production model. But they were shooting short films basically. Personally, as a mid range shooter, i am stoked about both the video and stills upgrades for this and it will be a great addition to my kit. You covered quite a bit in just a few hours with it. Not a bad initial video about how it feels. And you covered some topics that othersa haven’t and listed the spec on screen which is helpful for real world use prior to the body arriving. Thanks so much!
Well, that will push it to 2999€ here in Portugal, I'm sure 😲Doesn't make any sense for photography shooters anymore, unfortunately. I hope they release a Z5 II more focused on photography, keeping the tilt-screen but with the new EVF and the same AF capabilities as the Zf.
I think Nikon wanted to release a camera able to compete with the A7 IV (of 2021), assuming, that people wouldn't recognize the difference between 24 and 33 MP 😉
The true problem of the Z6 III release date is, that it is too late again.
Let's assume safely, that Nikon will foreseeably not manage to deliver noteworthy production volumes any time soon this year, as they never manage that with any of their released items.
As always, they'll disguise that with their usual excuse phrase "the demand exceeded the supply unexpectedly"™, which nobody believes any more anyway. Heard too often, actually always. So it will happen yet another time this time, GUARANTEED 👍🙂
But by the time the Z6 III will be actually broadly available and on stock, some time later in 2024: By then, the A7 V will be only a few months away (in 2025). So the Z6 III will become overshadowed quite quickly again. That's the curse of running behind, being too late.
Nikon needs the equivalent of the Canon R8 for the masses. Sweet AF, small light body, great price. But with the advantage of Z lenses having better quality than RF's especially at the lowest segments.
All these super hybrid cameras are of interest to professionals mainly, and seems like the lines that separated the Z6 from the Z7 and Z8 became totally blurred. I don't get this strategy, but it can be the start of a lineup redesign, I don't know.
@@tubularificationedpfff are you one of those megapixel peepers? 24 is plenty and this absolutely kills the Sony a7iv and a7siii simultaneously. Not to mention, the Sony colour science and baked in noise reduction
If you are a Nikon fanboy, then go to your peers and accuse your Z8 users of being megapixel peepers 😉 There is probably a good reason, why the Z8 has as many megapixels as it has. Not sure why that would be suddenly wrong with a "Z6 III killer" in 2025 from Sony?
There is no baked in noise reduction. Sony deploys dual gain amplifiers, where a second set of amplifiers kicks in at some higher ISO to reduce the noise physically, as that second amplifier array is optimized for small signals.
Nikon uses Sony sensors, but AFAIK Sony doesn't give out their newest / best sensor technology to competitors like Nikon, for quite some period.
@@tubularificationed Nikon make better quality sensors than Sony. You know why? Because they put more care into the filter arrays and optics, software and are a more premium brand. Nikon also makes the equipment for making sony sensors. They don’t withhold anything because Nikon would go somewhere else otherwise.
Spec wise is quite impressive. But if you're not professional videographer and need all those video capabilities, it's hard to justify the price.

This is kind of surprising price wise, I thought it would’ve been priced a little more competitively. Especially considering that I wouldn’t be surprised if a Z9ii is the next camera Nikon makes.
Some of the video features are not found in cameras below USD 4000.-
Who does it compete against? The Sony A7IV is the exact same price and specs wise this camera should beat it in almost every way
Interested in what people want in a z9ii that wouldn’t be a firmware update. That camera (and z8) will be relevant for the next 10+ years
@@martzallmedia I think it’s more that Nikon isn’t going to drop or even sell firmware and will just improve video and bit rate specs for a brand new price tag that people WILL buy.
I enjoyed the freedom of this video. It didn’t feel as limited as all of the other press event related reviews.

'Partially stacked' means that it has helper chips top and bottom with the ADCs and buffer memory. It uses a different stacking process, the same as the one used for the 'chiplet' processors from AMD. Using a separate chip means that the ADCs can be process optimised and thus run faster, and that buffer memory can be included to allow reading and dtat transfer to be overlapped.

Bro, I'm super jealous. I had to pay quite a bit for mine... smh.
Can't take people serious that are disappointent with this camera. This thing is the best in class at everything and above competitors with it's performance in photo and video mode. The price will come down over time or there will be a trade-in or cash-back. Too much complains about nothing.
Tilty flippy screen is a dealbreaker for me. Most vloggers are going to buy the stylized Zf over this camera and use it to vlog, just copy the Sony/Fuji multi tilt screen, and it's a great action camera I could have two bodies for on the job for almost the price of one of the other bodies when this offers everything needed. Not that I would buy a Nikon, they stole my trade-ins, ignored that part of emails/calls entirely where I asked about the updated trade-in price I never got or credit in general, and then after the return period for the order quit replying entirely. I had to call my bank, explain the situation to them, and they did a chargeback on the order, so at least I got that back and the money from selling the gear in the order. If you're going to buy Nikon, buy second hand and avoid their god awful customer service. I've had a LOT better service from MPB and KEH, like night and day difference.
the flippy is a deal breaker for me also. i haven't bought new since mirrorless cameras became the thing. compared to smartphone tech these camera companies aren't really doing anything impressive. why carry around a bulky camera and lens when a smartphone can handle 99% of photos most people take.
Where else are you gonna get 6k full frame video, ProResRaw with IBIS and this level of autofocus. This camera is made especially for social media content creators.
The Z8, which is only 400 CHF more in Switzerland.

That price is taking the piss when you can get a brand new Z8 for £500 more or an a7iv for a grand less. You’re only buying this for video specs and if you don’t do video you’d be mental to pay £2700 for a 24mp camera.
Exactly, Just map a fn button on Z8 to enable Dx crop and you have a approx 24MP camera…
On Nikon’s website, the Z6iii + 24-120mm F4 = £3539.00
On Panamoz (Gray Market) Z8 + 24-120mm F4 = £3560.00

You could get the Z8 and give Nikon more money, or wait for the Z6iii street price to drop and compare it again.
This pricing is weird but it is a matter of bad timing. In Andorra, the Z6 III is €2650 so around €700 less than the Z8 now that the latter is on sale. Otherwise, the Z8 is almost €4000 so quite a bit more! I suspect that on the next sales, the difference will be significant.

Hahah, it's been 6 (six) years since the release of Z6 and they still haven't fixed the flickering noise in the shadows it seems, remarkable! Look at the Kai's jacket, it's pulsing green, noticeable even through YT compression.
Finally, photographers can stop waiting and order Z6ii while the supply lasts.
