She is gentle and wonderful, even bossy if her little brother breaks the rules and he listens to her. Georgy is everyone’s light and love. When they sing there’s another Georgy deep inside. We know this is true and she is amazing.

Georgy in this song is just a girl’s name and not a place name. Remembering that the song is an early sixties song and the sixties was an era of the peace and love movement which followed the more conservative fifties. I think the song is basically telling the girl from the fifties era to be a bit less conservative and to let her hair down and wear her heart on her sleeve a bit more.
I enjoy the back and forth between the couple and I believe they made some valid points. I remember standing outside my sister's bedroom door listening to her playing this song on her record player. She noticed me and invited me into her room to listen with her. She was 8 years older than I was, and I looked up to her. Whenever I hear the melody at the beginning of Georgy Girl it immediately takes me back in time, when my sister would share her love of music with me.
