The Seekers were an Australian folk group that was very popular charting most of their hits in the mid to late 1960s. I was born in 1962, but hearing "Georgy Girl" along with other songs on the radio in 1968 is one of my earliest musical memories. The female lead singer, Judith Durham, had a lovely pure voice (sadly, she passed away just a couple of years ago). This song was the title song of a movie of the same name starring Lynn Redgrave in the title role, also with actor Michael Caine. An even better song of theirs and my favorite was their first "I'll Never Find Another You" from 1965. Perhaps you will react to that one sometime. I enjoy your channel.

I haven't heard it since I was 5, and it's surprising how much more sense it makes now. My 5 year old mind didn't understand the metaphors like "you're always window shopping but never stopping to buy." I thought she was actually looking at store windows.🤣
This was one of my favorite songs growing up. Another one that I like just as well in the same time frame was Alfie from the movie by the same name. I think Michael Caine was in it, but I don’t think I ever saw the movie just loved this song!😅
True but this Australian Group came to London in the Mid 1960's to seek world fame and fortune as London then was the world capital of Music, Theatre and The Arts, and the accompanying film(this is the title track) depicts that:)
This is a studio recording, time adjusted to synch the lips, over the actual Myer Music Bowl performance. The actual performance was stunning, but stage recording wasn’t as good as this. Also, notice how far Judith is from the microphone. She has such a powerful voice.

You got the correct film and lead actress, but Michael Caine wasn't in it. James Mason, Alan Bates and Bill Owen were the 3 main actors.
