      Double Ditto Brothers. Today is my 71st birthday If you are like me, this music takes me back to my early teen age years. This was the kind of music that shaped a generation. One of my early favorites was "Rhythm of the Rain by the Cascades" Thanks Jay and Amber for reacting to all kinds of music. To be perfectly honest, there is some music that I have to skip over because it just isn't me. But I have followed you from Jays doing reactions by himself to the first song the two of you reacted to as a couple, and I know that eventually you will get around to some earlier music. Big Kudos to both of you and your kids.

      Thankfully, we have CZcams where we can look up all the music we missed. One thing that CZcams cannot reproduce is the culture shock that usually accompanied such musical releases. I was in elementary school when Michael Jackson's Thriller was released. I was only vaguely familiar with popular music having been raised on John Denver, Elton John, Beach Boys, Neil Diamond, Barry Manillow, etc. When Thriller came out it was everywhere. My school PE class performed a dance to "Beat It"; my sister bought the record album; we recorded The Making Of Thriller TV special off of TV and watched it frequently (it might have been the thing that introduced me to "Weird" Al.) I became pretty familiar with several songs from Thriller... and that was without ever listening to the radio! I can't imagine the culture shock when the Beatles arrived.

    The Seekers are an amazingly under-rated group: the melding of 2 guitars and a bass, the purity and strength of Judith's voice, the harmonies of the group and the great songs they perform...this group is a winner for me! ❤ Thanks for reacting to this one.

    @karyndijkstra Před měsícem +3

    Growing up in the 60s The Seekers were my favourite group. Judith's voice was and remains the best I've ever heard and their harmonies were just beautiful. They split up way too early because Judith wanted to pursue a solo career. Despite the stress of the break-up, (the boys did not want to split) they remained friends throughout their lives. Judith died a couple of years ago and was given a state funeral. It would be great if you could watch their rendition of "I Am Australian" which many people would like to become our national anthem. It was written by Keith Woodley, one of the band members. Beautiful people who made beautiful music.

    Aussies here. It's the folk-rock sound of the 60s.
    Judy Durham passed away in late 2022. So the obits reminded us of The Seekers.
    One song I remember was "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing." It was originally a Coca-Cola commercial that was so popular that somebody decided to add and modify the lyrics, and it was put out by The Seekers and got them another hit.

      "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing" is a wonderful song they should definitely try. However that song done by The New Seekers which, I believe, has none of the original members of The Seekers. Well, they definitely did not include Judith.

      A great song getting the biggest reaction on this channel of all the Seekers songs that Rob Squad has reacted to.
      Their first international recording and release quickly going to number one for the Seekers. Rare for a first release in the UK and up against the Beatles and Rolling Stones.

    I enjoy watching you guys take this journey song after song. I am a child of the 60's, a teenager of the 70's and a young man of the 80's. The videos you do are the soundtrack of my life. Everyone takes me instantly back to a time and place, the memories of people, places, and events flood in every time. These were different times, crazy times the world was changing so fast, it was a time before video games and the internet the music was on the radio and on TV shows your telephone was on the wall. We had amazing music and high handlebars and banana seats on our bikes and we graduated into muscle cars. You hung out with friends and had adventures, you skinned you knees, you broke bones. We survived. Thank you for taking this journey and

    Guitarist were Bruce Woodley and Keith Potger, Athol Guy on bass - all were active in Australian music for over 50 years - Athol managed a new group in Britain after the Seekers broke up in the mid-70s called The New Seekers - check them out! Next Seekers song, either Kumbaya or Morningtown Ride pls!

      It was Keith Potger that set up and managed the New Seekers and even performed in a few of their recordings.
      I just checked to confirm this.

    As a 67 year old biking rocker, you'd expect my funeral song to be AC/DC or Motorhead.etc...but no, it's this song by The Seekers. A real 60's vibe when all was groovy and optimistic. :)

    The seekers were from Australia and became famous in the 60s in England, but there was a singer from South Africa who was just as or more famous than Seekers at this time. His name is Roger Whitaker. He has a unique voice and introduced us to his way of incorporating his whistling into his songs. Check him out you'll be amazed.

    Some groups just put a smile on your face whenever you hear one of their songs. The Seekers are one of those groups. My mother's favourite group when I was a kid growing up in the lat 60s. And they still sound so fresh even today, more than 50 years later.
