Honestly I think I'm still not over Derrick's passing. The guy's huge library of work definitely had an influence on me growing up, and especially now. I think this sums it up though, instead of having those toys and items collect dust, they're going out into the world for new and younger fans to get their enjoyment out of them, it's part of his legacy. Not forgetting him anytime soon, design icon.
Me neither. I didn't follow him close enough to know that he was a toy guy this whole time, and I will be ashamed of that forever
I’m glad his toys and merch is going to be enjoyed but other collectors but there is just something sad about his collection sitting in a random toy stores and people going through misc bins of his toys
I will watch every episode of Transformers Animated in his honor.
His visual art style made Teen Titans fun, and my dad and I enjoyed watching several episodes because of Derrick. RIP, Derrick J. Wyatt from East Gotham City (in reference to Atlas roasting his fictional self in season 3).

I'd be careful with handling the Swindle figure.
The figure is very infamous for its purple plastic being very fragile.
I can unfortunately attest to this.
Hopefully someone with 3D printing experience can design us some replacement parts.

It’s very rare I see a Transformers fan that’s not as into the toys. I think it’s really nice of you to give some of these incredibly rare stuff to your friend Alex. I’m gonna miss Derrick a lot, his work in Transformers has been monumental and changed the brand for the better.
Derrick was an unappreciated genius. and only NOW find out that he was a toy collector too. His death will never not hurt, even though we're still able to celebrate what he left us.
What's sad is seeing his collection that must have been a pretty big passion of his broken up, dumped into bins, and pennied out for a fraction of what they're worth (as them belonging to him alone adds some value most people who walk into a toy store wouldn't realize unless told)

I'm honestly trying not to cry after finishing this video because Transformers animated was to show the introduced me to the Transformers franchise and after finding out that Derek J Wight was the one who made it that made me want to meet him but now he's gone and so are my chances as well.

This video is almost ethereal... I have so many emotions and I don't really know how to feel. Every one of Derrick's works mean so much to me it's sad seeing all of his things just kind of be shown like this. I appreciate it just wish derrick himself could have shown it off to us

God this reminds me so much of going through my dads collection when he passed. One of the few comforts is that something someone loved in their life can be truely appreciated even after they're gone.
That handheld video game is something I’ve spent many hours playing with as a kid and I’m surprised any of them still existed at all. Very cool to see it again and especially in Wyatt’s collection too
I would love to have the trick or treat ones if they were in stores years ago.
It is still sad that he is gone but at least his legacy lives on. RIP Derrick. Your collection is seriously cool mate.

Found a graphic novel stamped "From the Estate of Derrick J Wyatt 1972-2021" while comic digging in Burbank. I was at House of Secrets and digging through the way back area, there were some older type graphic novels and I found "Excalibur: Weird War III" , something I didn't know existed but I have started collecting Excalibur. I take it home and lo and behold, DJW liked Excalibur too. I gotta go check out Blast From the Past. I saw that Leader Animated Megatron, I've definitley been wanting one of them.
derrick was a genious, tranformers animated is one of those series that has a charm like no other it dare to do new stuff and new concepts with no fear for the past or future

I still can't believe Derrick is gone. Sometimes someone passing doesnt really sink in until everyone else is left to pick up thr pieces and go through their stuff and whatnot.
I LOVE weird tfa merch. The bumblebee bye bye boo boo thingie and the plush trick or treat pails are hilarious and are definitely the crown jewels. It's also very nice of you to send stuff to Alex; I think Derrick's stuff is in good hands in between you guys and the rest of the fans.

I hope somewhere Derrick is ok with this. I would hate even after death if people were taking my years worth of collecting away to keep for themselves.
Yes and no, if I had children or family who enjoyed my collection as much as I do I’d give it to them, but if no one was interested then I’d do what D.J.W. Did and give/sell it to someone who can get as much enjoyment out of them as I once did… that is what Optimus would do imo

Honestly bless you for putting all this effort in to try and rescue these things and make a proper video about it. Some of these finds are so cool- I never knew half of this stuff existed!

I have to give you a huge thank you- I saw your original tweet and hadn't been to Blast From The Past for a few weeks. Now I go basically weekly to see what's new from Derricks collection- so far I've gotten Bulkhead, Ratchet, Wreck Gar, Battle Begins Optimus and Megatron and Deluxe Megatron from the WFC game. Now it's basically part of my Saturdat routine to go visit, looks through the bins and get something of Derricks

Man like not trying to dig on you but there’s something kinda grim about this. Like after a man’s passing just… kinda scrambling to snap up all this guy’s toys. I don’t know feels weird.
Like the way the guy in this video is like “ooo boy I was really hoping to get this rare collector’s item: the a toy made in a dead man’s likeness” it’s just like… he wasn’t a commodity Yknow?
I understand where you’re coming from. I’m friends with a handful of people who knew him. I spoke to them for a bit about if was appropriate, or graverobbery to take the trip. I thought about that for a while, which is why I didn’t take the trip until a month+ after they arrived at the store. It wasn’t really a scramble, moreso a bittersweet walk. I think everyone has different lines and boundaries. I can understand the discomfort from it.
A family member and many friends of his replied to my Tweets happy that the toys found a new home, which made me feel a bit more comfortable with it. I don’t plan to sell anything I got, just cherish it the way he did. But I understand the concern and the feeling.
