Johnson's heal ability also adds damage reduction to any unit in the heal. Cyclops are also included in the mech overcharge.
Although if I recall, combat tech marines don't repair Cyclops; so going heavy infantry doesn't work that great. Might be funny for some bunker/garrison memes though; once they kill the bunker your cyclops then surprise go immune.

This is awesome that you’re making beginners’ guides for this game after 3 yrs. i played hw2 when it first came out but wasn’t really into it. Played it again and I love it. I’d love to see a kinsano or yap yap guide

5:32 tier 2 upgraded pelican ability is really good. It had obscene reach, can take an entire army of mechs and colossi, and is free. Had a round where I dropped a massive army on an enemies base and he was distracted fighting my Yap yap teammate and had his base obliterated. Then I was just running around in the back lines trashing the enemies bases. I’ve found he has some good general counter units but has issues with the tankier super units like scarabs. This is why emp blast is super good, being able to Stun a super unit in a fight for like 5 seconds is very useful

Personally I don't really like the mech angle for Johnson, to me it feels like they shunted him into that role because they didn't have any character for it. He should have been more of a combined arms commander imo, what could have been really neat is it changes so that each Hornet can carry a Marine squad, have him just in his ODST armor with a squad around him from a drop pod. I just feel the units don't match the character. The healing ability is perfect, fits the character exactly he should be focused on support more than direct damage but it should be a more combined arms push kind of thing. I'm hoping that we get a Halo Wars 3 some day and they put a design that really fits his character.
That all said he's still Johnson in attitude and character and I absolutely love him.
Sort of agree. Tbh I'd rather just have his charachter expanded on eith more abilities like so as his playstyle options are very limited which can make him boring to main and predictable to play against. An issue I think that is widespread in hw2.
Halo wars 1 was far less specialised by leader and whilst its cool they countered that in hw2 to make everyone feel more unuiqe it also relegates in your options as specific playstyles are hard meta for each leader.
I think the mechs fit Johnson. Reminds me of in halo 2 with the scorpion. He brings the armour. There's just a lot more of him they could bring in like you say.

I like colossus’s mixed with either combat tech marines or wolverines and nightingales. Although mantises weaken armor I’m pretty sure so I should probably add them into the mix

My tech build used to be generator. Two supply pads. Upgrade geni 1 ASAP. 2nd geni ASAP then tech.

My favorite thing is how well mantis’s counter basic infantry vehicle rushes. Had one time someone sent a marine hell at rush at me and my 10 mantises decimated them
The bunkers also fuck up ai pathing if you wanted to run some practice games
Johnson in 1v1 is D-tier. Sorry but that's just the truth. But in 2v2 or 3v3? Johnson is B-tier or even A-tier.
If your teammates can clutch for you early game as you get your mantis army built, Johnson's late game is powerful.
It would be cool if unsc got a rocket pad or rail cannon like paviums mega turret
Sergeant Johnson is my boi me and my brother just love to screw over people early with Bunker drops ever since they got that cool down buff this season it's very cheddarful

Have you played Company of Heroes? It's a lot like Halo Wars, but a little more in-depth with unit controls and more realistic with things like infantry shooting tanks and their bullets just bounce off.

Because when I compare the two I find Johnson very underwhelming. Considering that it's JOHNSON were talking about, I don't think that's a good thing.

I was playing as Arby. A Johnson threw a bunker in my invisibility cloak area on my outer base. Nearly blew my mind🤯🤯🤯
Johnson by far is my favorite character with buck closing in on 2nd (cuz of cayde from destiny rip my boi 😔) and I’ve watched this guide in hopes of helping me decide if I should buy him or not but I want an opinion from the general population so should I?

To day was my first day play as him, and I love him, he is so much fun, I try all leaders but I never find one that was for me, I am still trying out leader, I haven’t try isable out yet, but I have see her powers and ain’t my style of playing, I perfer more “simply”

Un install forge pack then re download by hitting start on the game when selected in all games and apps
