The coin up for discussion is the 1950 d Jefferson Nickel. It is the lowest mintage coin of the Jefferson nickel series. With over 2.6 million minted, but it was hoarded by collectors and as a result it is plentiful today. You can buy a MS full step 1950 d nickel when searching carefully. They are not that expensive to purchase in MS 63-66-FS grade. At MS 67-FS and up they can become a little more expensive and at MS 68-FS more expensive and harder to locate. Buying slabbed 1950 d MS-FS nickels is what some collectors do, rather than sending in several of them to be graded. You may not get the grade you think the coin is, and it cost every time you send in a coin to be graded. If the coin really looks like it could be a MS 67 or 68, then just maybe taking a chance will pay off. Maybe it will but, nothing is gauranteed.

Nice example of a nickel. I never really at a nickel before, but the features on the obverse are pretty detailed.

Hi Stax! Thanks for watching another video. I forget to include in the video that the 1950 d nickel is a key date in the series.
