- You can’t stop life from happening to you, but you can choose how you respond. At the office, a coworker says something that offends you. It starts off as a little seed. If you let it go, nothing will come of it. But if you dwell on it, you’ll soon be holding a grudge. Now that little seed is taking root. It starts to grow and before long it will pollute other areas of your life. That’s why Hebrews 12:15 warns “that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.”
The good news is you don’t have to live with bitter roots. Ask God to show you what’s causing you to be bitter. Maybe you need to forgive somebody, maybe you’re still sour over a dream that didn’t work out, or maybe you’re still beating yourself up over a mistake you made in the past. Be honest with yourself and say, “God, help me to get this root of bitterness out of me. I don’t want to live angry and bitter. I want my passion back. I want to love again. I want to laugh again. I want to dream again. God, help me to let it go and move forward.”

I had a heart attack 4 yrs ago, I'm 56 now.
Came out of no where, no signs, no warning at all. I have known people who just died, no warnings, nothing. There one minute gone the next.
I have gone thru a horrible divorce for the past 6 years. Spent 100,000 on my attorney, my ex hid roughly 500,000 from our businesses while we were married (21yrs) she defaulted on all of our properties, businesses, she purposely ran our properties into the dirt..nothing is left.
She has lied, cheated, plotted against me with a vengance now for 6 yrs. I still have primary custody of our son. God has provided me and son with all we need. We lack for nothing.
I'm in a new place (spiritually) I forgive her for all she has done, I do not say bad things about her, God is our vindicator, he will make all things right. When I see her in town, I wave, I say hello. She "will not" steal my joy, I will not live bitter because of her.
Life is short and fragile, be at peace, live in peace, trust God for every single thing in your life.

I pray that God helps me to forgive and let go. I tap into your testimony. I am going through similar issues but pray that God will lead me to the rock that is higher than me.

Ditto that Dana Dorsey I was about to say the same thing - I can't believe how people criticize him. Every time I listen to him I feel like my mind and heart have been encouraged and washed by the power of the Hoy Spirit.

This sermon broke me emotionally a few weeks ago. I kept so much hurt and anger inside. I hurt so much I couldn't cry but I had become bitter and miserable. That morning I listened to this the tears started flowing. Whilst at work where the source of my anger was I constantly felt the urge to cry. I let it all out for about 5mins in the washroom. From then I felt like a burden had been lifted off me and I feel so much like my old self . I have a more positive outlook on life and it had reinforced the fact that God is working things out for me. This sermon was my breakthrough. God's blessing on you Mr. Osteen

She was divorced from my grandfather over 30 years ago and anytime my mom which is her daughter mentions his name she is always negative saying things like he is no good or if he would have not left us you would've had a $20 bill instead of a $5 bill. If you do the will of God or do what God has called you for, people will judge and say negative things about you. Don't listen to them, you are called by God, not by them. Joel Osteen is doing what he was called for and God is blessing him. Thank you for not allowing the naysayers stop you. God is with you. Jesus was never liked, He was killed and hanged on the cross, but he fulfilled his purpose, its now over 2000 years, we still celebrate his victory. He arose from the dead, He is still alive.

A year ago my husband got a job in a company witch was owned by Christians and we were so happy. This had been my prayer for years to work for a Christen boss. And after an year it has turned in to a nightmare and we just don't understand why they so much mistreat people in the company. Now they do that to my husband too. Day in and out I cry and pray to God to find a job for him so he can be removed from this place. But from now on , I am going to forgive them and pray for them too. No matter how bad they treet him. I never see a Bible in Joel's hands but I enjoy watching him and he does make me smile. I love his Mama, Dodie, and I love her testimony of healing and I love her teachings of the healing scriptures. I believe that the Osteen family has God's Favor on their side. Paul Osteen, Joel's brother, a talented surgeon, has also provided medical care to multitudes of poor people in Africa. Regardless of other people's criticism, the Osteen family are loyal to the Lord Almighty, Jesus Christ; and that's all that really matters.

I am reading over some of the comments. Most are wonderful but there are always some that will twist and turn a good thing into something terrible. I have come a long way with Pastor Osteen I find nothing wrong with what he preaches, ITS FOR OUR GOOD! He and Wife are not telling us to be greedy, he says to live an abundant life. I saw a comment that said he and his wife are spreading blasphemy...I dont get it. Maybe these harsh commentators need to really LISTEN to what Pastor Osteen is saying about "Beating bitterness". This is how GOD heals a preacher's heart and gives them the revelation that their suffering was not for themselves alone but so that the millions who are not preachers can also be healed. I am not a Christian but I absolutely love the teachings of Jesus and the lovely Bible (I studied in a convent school). Sending lots of love from India and the United States. Thank you. I am inherently a very positive, warm-hearted person and I love all the things and all the people and all the aspects of this beautiful world, the happiness and the sadness both.
But I had been burning inside by the injustice that life caused for the past 4 months and this talk healed me considerably. I want to let go of the resentment, anger, and absolute disgust that I hold for the person who wronged me. I want God to make him realize how gravely unjust he was. He was jealous of God himself and he stopped me from worshipping God. And he was on very wrong paths (multiple wrong paths), and he was arrogant about it, he did not want to change as he did not feel he was wrong. I keep questioning God, why did you bring such a manipulative, filthy person into my life when I always had good intentions for others throughout my life. I want to let go of all the resentment now. I am done. I hate that person. But I do not want to carry this hatred anymore because I know that hatred is bad for the one who carries it. I pray to God that he heals me soon. I know that He does everything for a reason and His choice is always better than my choice. So I completely accept what He has planned for me. God is gonna take care of the injustice, I know this in my heart, so I am letting go.
I am thankful to God for standing like a shield and saving me from the misery of a lifetime.
