    I've been building since '75 (a youngster back then) and have done my fair share of video projects in the past 5 years. Doing a stop motion + balsa kit build would be the equivalent of finger nails on a chalkboard for me.
    You, sir, have to be one of the most patient human beings on the planet to make this video. A hearty "Well done!"

    Used to build flying ones as a kid. Great times to remember. I built a version of one called Miss America, Curtiss Robin, A Storch, Piper Cub, and a Folker Tri plane. Back when kids played outside and didn't need a phone or computer. A fine old gentleman from Indiana named Jim taught me how. He was a master plane builder and made the ultra light indoor planes. This was back in the mid sixties when a kid had to work and save his money to buy these things. Some of them flew very well. Some of the guillows kit planes were too heavy for rubber flight. But thanks. Nice video of memories in better times.

    Very nice video. Albatros fighters were delivered to the front Jadgstaffels with the head rest. The pilots opted out to remove them because they felt the headrest blocked their rear view and thus the ground crews would remove them. Look at the photos of front line units of Albatros fighters, you’ll be hard pressed to find some with a head rest.

    Great animation, great build, and a great model. Thanks for sharing! Love especially all off the details you included in building the engines, cowling, machine guns, etc. May I suggest you consider putting a spinner on the front to give this model the unmistakable appearance of an Albatross? Just an idea and certainly not meant as a criticism. Again, great model and thanks again for sharing your model making and filming animation expertise.

    To fill in between stringers with sheet, cut a piece of soft sheet a bit larger than the area to be covered, press it against the stringers and formers, from the inside, with a pencil sharpened to a chisel point, mark the perimeter of the area, cut the marked area out and final fit with fine sandpaper, then glue in place, pressing it from the inside against a hard surface.

    • @TomGrigat
      @TomGrigat  Před 7 lety +6

      Thanks for your kind words ;-) And yes, I painted the prop simulating different layers of wood - just to try to get near the prototype. Since the shape of the model prop is totally different to original it may looks a little bit odd though. It was just a try to get a result like I do it for my plastic models.
      Here you may see some examples of how I handle the "wood theme":

      Ok thank you! That deep red is nice! I have a Guillow hellcat I have sitting in shelf. A nice dark blue tissue would be cool! Any recommendations?

    I'm spending a fortune on kits, watching these superb biulds. What type of adhesive do you favour for this type of kit?.
