THE FELL PONY

When the Fell Pony Society was formed in 1922 its aim was "to foster and keep pure the old breed of pony," and later "to promote knowledge of all matters concerning the Fell Pony breed."
This film about Fell pony type and conformation aims to describe the breed as we see it a hundred years later, as a basis for the next century.

Thank you for commenting on the pony in reference to its home environment and purpose. The way people breed now to please twisted minds in the show ring instead of what the breed evolved to or was originally bred for makes me sad. Arabians for example, used to be strong and majestic, able to withstand harsh environments. Now, many look like mutants from outer space. I hope that never happens to the Fells.

What bit is the rider using at 15:39....it seem uncomfortable and frothing at the mouth holding its head down not up where the judge said its supposed to be.

It may be helpful to show these ponies in a snaffle .being overbent in a double bridle doesn't show a natural way of going for a native pony
