This is a series of videos associated with a feature-length documentary I'm working on about The Grievance Studies Affair. My plan is to play around with some of the footage I gather and upload it here to gauge interest and have a creative outlet while I learn about the complicated subject matter.
My usual sources of film funding are blocked off to me because of the sensitive subject matter and my slow approach. If you think what I'm doing is valuable and you're in a position to help, you can support the project here - / mikenayna

The thing about being anonymous is that you can pretend to be a list of professors even if you're a lone nutcase undergraduate who is flunking their coursework.
But the thought that these might really be professors is disturbing. It's not like there aren't already a few out there tweeting wicked nonsense under their own names.
It's no surprise that the same pattern of cowardly attacks we have seen levelled against Damore and Peterson are coming the way of the Sokal Squared team.
Give it time, they too will be referred to indirectly in hushed tones by initial only (like "He Who Must Not Be Named").
Quote mining, false framing and mockery will continue to be a fashionable way to feign intelligence to impress all the wrong people.
Those who defend them will be labelled and dismissed as "delusional fanboys", muted and blocked.

Peter is one of the best profs that I studied under while getting my BSEE at PSU. I always found his classes to be engaging, enlightening, and broadening. He always struck me as a person who is deeply invested in the process of helping his students grow intellectually rather than just pushing his ideas on others. His classes, of which I took more than my STEM degree called for, where an absolute highlight of my time at PSU because he offered us the chance to discuss all manner of weighty, thorny issues with our peers by treating us like adults and pushing us beyond our intellectual comfort zones. Peter's style of teaching is what philosophy departments should be built upon. This man should be head of the department, not being shit upon in the school's paper by a bunch of people who are too afraid to put their name next to what they say.

I agree with Nayna. This is the Mean Girls "burn book." When they talked about Boghossian, et al. "devaluing the degrees of students," it confirmed something I've suspected for a while. This is the same criticism that is leveled at people like the anonymous authors of this article. They are paying attention to the criticism directed at them, noting it down, and then using the language of that criticism against people like these three. It is utterly disingenuous and spiteful. Once again, it's "idea laundering." It's completely in keeping with postmodernism, because why try to have an original thought? They would ask what *is* an original thought? To them, such a thing doesn't exist. Things like this are moves of power, not moves of reason. That's all one needs to know, and should be given all due respect, which is to say none. It's Mad Magazine shit.

I used to go to PSU. I say used to, but I dropped all of my classes only yesterday (due to their lack of care or concern for their students, and apparently faculty, in a multitude of ways) and I'm incredibly surprised by the stupidity of much of the student body and faculty, to not see the point that Boghossian was making with what he did. It is such a massive echo chamber, and if anyone questions their beliefs, they ostracize you. Just like they're doing to Boghossian. And not only that, but they get offended, they get loud, violent, vulgar, unprofessional... It speaks volumes to me that so much of the student body agrees with what PSU is doing, this smear campaign, and his punishment through the IRB. They have their heads so far up their own asses that they don't even see the point the three were making about the echo chamber that has become academia. Thank you, Peter Boghossian, Helen Pluckrose, and James Lindsay for your academic honesty. Thank you for pointing this out. I have no regrets about leaving PSU. They use this technique that is so widespread nowadays: Accuse your adversary of your own misdemeanors. It is hard to counter because you would logically repeat the same accusations back at them, and that in turn would make you sound childish and silly.
I think they rely on that tactic. They think it gives them the freedom to act as foolishly and maliciously as they want, as long as they can officially accuse YOU of it. Victimologists do that a lot, including politicians, educators you name it.
What they don't seem to notice is that they LIE. They have become so over-confident that they lie the public in its face. They are overdoing it so fast, it gets embarrassing enough so that everybody notices.
You (We) will win soon, I can smell it. Your fates don't go unnoticed. Keep strong, just expose the lies and the cowardice. They're on the brink of collapse.

Peter,Oxford alumna here. Academia has always been a septic tank, where careerists, opportunists, moral cowards, frauds and charlatans prevail. This obnoxious academic lynch mob strategy destroyed the lives and careers of two of my mentors,Dr Sarah Goode and Dr Bill Thompson, since I have nothing but contempt for academics in general. There is life outside academia, stay strong, these vermin's can libel and attack you,but you have dignity and integrity, and there is nothing they can do about it. How can we concretely help you?.

If this shit keeps going, you're going to lose your job anyway and without a fight. Don't be like the anonymous garbage that wrote the hit piece.

  • @zxumwmki3604

This a phrase from the article that really gets to me:
_While many would normally consider these non-research, educationally-irrelevant “hoax” activities to be unworthy of addressing, credulous journalists interested mainly in spectacle have taken these frauds and introduced them to the broader world._
It's written as if the authors are attacking the _contents_ of the hoax papers and imagining that these are what journalists are spread, and are not understanding the nature of the probe at all.
I'd like to understand the psychological reasons for this behaviour. Are they just people with many degrees but limited intelligence so they honestly don't understand the issues?
Or are they intelligent people acting in dishonesty knowingly, and betting in their students' being credulous and unintelligent?
What kind of personality traits does it take to act like this? And how come these fields attract individuals with those traits?

As someone who's been following Peter's work since before all this BS in the universities started to become mainstream, I gotta say, it's ludicrous to see the point at which the american and canadian universities have gotten. I'm Portuguese, so I live on the eastern side of the Atlantic. Looking in into this distopian reality, happening to one of the greatests countries in the world, is quite frightning. If the USA doesn't put up with this shit, I don't know who will. I'd love to see more people in support of Peter though. Fear and silence will not make the situation better, especially for the children of those who are on Peter's side but refuse to speak up and act.
Also, I'd love to have had Peter as a professor.
