Absolutely. It's knife Corn(word substituted). Your channels allow me and others to see what we can chase after. Collecting/hunting is better than actually having the knife. It's not the destination, but the journey. Many who can't afford them live vicariously through your collection. Your channel is window shopping. It gives people a grail to chase. Many of these knives are not available but will be in the coming months, maybe years. In 6 months since I started I collected three knives I thought I'd never get. Patience. And if you don't have patience then there is the secondary market. Speaking of kunwu I'm going to try for that Giga.
I agree 100%. Great way to see, what metals/materials/mechanisms are designers/manufacturers are using and is it worth carrying/using. All I have is a few sporting goods stores and walmart here, no way am I ever going to get to check out MOST of these knives.
Porn porn porn porn porn porn porn porn porn porn porn porn
Harry, totally agree, thought I was unusual, regards from U.K.
I learned over time that the wallet doesn't always have to get involved to have a great time here. Once I had that mindset, satisfaction in this hobby increased immensely. Plus, there's always, always another knife on the radar. Both a blessing and a curse. 😂
Personally I love seeing all the cool knives I didn't know existed even if they aren't available.
Of course you should. I can’t afford at least half of the knives you review but I still enjoy the content and information about them.
This is no different than watching videos about exotic cars or expensive boats. I know I'll never be able to own one, but that's okay. I enjoy the designs, the backstory behind it, and the craftsmanship. It's not about whether or not I can actually own one.
Apart from watching reviews of knives that are already on their way to me, the ultra high end stuff is my favorite stuff you post. Seeing the artistry involved in some of these things is incredible.
I appreciate the reviews, whether available or not. My only request is to try to time new releases reviews (particularly in the budget/ high volume range) with when they become available. But that will probably lead to more impulse buys, so maybe keep things the way they are!
There are more knives out there than what I could ever afford to add to my own collection. I do like seeing what’s out there even if I can’t get it
Yes.
My favorite knives to collect (and post) are ones that are discontinued. Its always fun to post a video of a long discontinued knife that doesn't have any videos posted on it yet.
❤
You’re so inconsiderate to review something I can’t get RIGHT NOW….😂. I personally have seen about a dozen knives I probably would have bought asap that turned out unavailable and I’ve only been a member less than a month…and I’m still not pissed. Keep up the great work!
I love seeing all the knives you share with us. As someone who dabbles in making knives myself, I really enjoy seeing the handmade and custom items.
This kind of content is also super useful for knife designers. You're essentially creating a catalogue of knife history.
I am new to this world of knifes, I am new to this channel and others in same content. Took me 4 months to make a decision on getting my first Benchmade custom Bugout, my first mTech flipper and a Real steal Furrier Skinner. When I watch content and if new content gets me hooked I will go back on older video to get a general feel.. I dont care if the knives are unique, sold out or pre order or discontinued. Knives lovers appreciate the unique piece, the level of complexity, the art, the labour... I am happy to see you are honest in reviews or even in a 30 minutes expression of frustration... Does that complain about stuff will get bored and become quiet. I am in Canada and over 50% of the knives you show, we cant get. I stll watch cause you might upload a review/unboxing that maybe I can get. And that is what as me enjoying what I see and hear.. Cheers!
I like that you post what you want and don’t cater. Tbh there are a lot of knife designs you show that I know I don’t like just from the thumbnail, but I still play the video and listen in the background. Not sure how many others do that, but it doesn’t bother me. I always pick up some info, even if it’s something to avoid when looking for a knife. Keep doing you MC, and I’m glad to see a return of TKG!
I agree 100%. You should post stuff that even isn’t available as like you said the secondary market exists. If you posted something that wasn’t available but I personally liked it, I would do what I could to find one.
Yes you should, I can't get the swords and armor from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC but I still appreciate the craftsmanship. It's the same thing when you post a knife, I may not be able to get it but I still appreciate it.
Right on.
Absolutely. I like to see the skill and artistry that custom knives exhibit. Doesn’t matter to me if they’re unavailable or unaffordable.
I’d prefer that type of content over endless reviews of knives comprised of D2 and Micarta. I enjoy those too but a mix of content I think is much better.
Absolutely we should! We post for our entertainment, and the entertainment of the viewers, we don’t post solely to promote products. Just because it’s not available now, doesn’t mean it won’t be in the future! (Either new or second hand) Great content MC!
I personally don't care if I can't(ever) get it, but I don't get offended for clicking on it. I do appreciate the content and understand that those videos aren't directed at people like me. Keep on keeping on🤘
I can’t just go out and buy a machine pew pew, but I still like watching and learning about them. The people that default to the angry comments are usually the type that can’t be pleased anyways. It’s sad that we now live in a world with such negativity. I still believe that the mast majority of your audience are the same as me and just enjoy and learn about new things. PS glad TKG is back, keep it coming.
I do believe you should post information on knives that are no longer available or not currently available. First, it’s great information on knives that have been created and second, if it shows up on a secondary market, we have a video to relate to and confirm if we would like to buy it.
I’ve never had a better knife buying experience than when it’s something I’ve been waiting a long time to get!
Absolutely! I enjoy learning about them and seeing them. Besides, ive seen you do this and have then found it on the secondary market.
Keep an eye out on REC. They will be doing a pre order of padre all blacked out. The blade is shiny dlc and ti scales are pvd coated. Still has timascus pivot collers. Not put yet but they say very soon
Yay knife guy is back!
You’re on point w this one for sure. I always love seeing the one offs from Scott and all the other rare/fancy stuff that comes your way.
You do you! It works so well brother. Keep it up!
Post it, make it publicly known to exist, and possibly the demand will encourage the production of more. Either they will make more or some other company will rip it off.
Boom.
The answer is YES! many of my grails (some of which i’ve actually chased down) were established after seeing them on your channel. I’ve become more engaged in the community, joining many facebook groups and going to meet ups to chase some of the grails.
Your love of knives and kniferes (is that even a word? ) really came through. Thanks!
I like what you do. I'm a lefty, so I watch for that. My current knife is a Benchmade Black Series with a D2 blade that I have carried for almost 20 years, and frankly it is wearing out. I was thinking about one of the MSI knives, but then you reviewed the prototype of the Winterblade Severn. I went to their site, liked what I read, and pre-ordered one of the limited edition Magnacut versions about 2 seconds after the pre-order opened. I'll get it maybe in August, and that is fine. Thank you!
Half of production knives you're posting are not available where I live , but I still watch your content , I like it , the way you put your content together , the knives you're presenting. Would I like to get hands on an exclusive knife? Hell yeah , but that doesn't mean I bash on the guy who unboxed/reviewed it. Keep it up MC. And keep showing us those exclusive pieces of art.
I guess it does kinda suck when some are unavailable. But I’m betting a majority of us just want all the content possible. And like you said. We can learn about different manufacturers and maybe catch a new release if we start following it.
Funny you even have to mention retail stock. I remember watching some of your Microtech reviews of the Ram Locks and when I checked retailers, they were all sold out. So I had to wait, and after waiting, I was able get my hands on a Stitch and soon an MSI. There is insane demand for those too, so just got to be lucky when they finally stock up again. You just reviewed it and gave your thoughts, I know I am not the only one who wants one.
Even if certain knives aren't available, its good to learn about them and what your thoughts are about it. So then when its around, it will help my decision if I wanna get it or not. Sometimes that leads us to impulsive decisions.. but sometimes we cant help it.
Also nice to see videos about stuff I cannot ever have or even afford for that matter. Whatever it may be.
Keep it up though, great stuff.
Post whatever your zirconium heart desires. You have a great fan base for a reason. If people want to be a over 9000 salt wizard because you make money, (on your hard work, and something you built) or because a knife is unavailable, they should just up their potassium intake and kick rocks. I enjoy your content, whatever it is. I like knives, I value your opinion. I like seeing things I may be contemplating purchasing. I like seeing knives I never knew existed. I like seeing knives i will never be able to purchase because I can't afford it. If it's not available, and something I decide I want to purchase (thanks to being able to see it, hear about it, learn about it, amd get a high valued opinion) it gives me something to look and search for, which can be rewarding in itself when you actually do find it. How you keep up with your schedule is a feat in itself. YoU mAkE mOnEy!? The people bitching should start their "in stock only" channel, while paying gold coins per post, with 10 original posts a day, Delete their video when it's out of stock, create a new one when back in stock. Not only for retailers, but know all of the secondary market as well. "New Alert from Sodium Complex!! In stock now on a private discord! Adamantium ltd. Ed. 001/000 folder with unobtanium scales! I did a video on this when it was whispered in prayer to Hephaestus, but I deleted the video immediately when it was out of stock... But get it now with the password... Never mind deleting this video because it sold.
So happy TKG is back. Every point you made was valid. I see other creators get bashed too because something is not available. But I enjoy seeing what existed, what styles from designers I might like, or hey, there's a huge secondary market out there. Missed the voodoo drop? They're also on the secondary market. As always appreciate your take on this.
Thank you for your posts. I enjoy all of your content. Thanks again.
I'm so glad you do show all knives. I wouldn't see alot of them. Thanks MC
I’m glad you got this out. Thanks for all the videos. Have a great day.
It's baaaaaa~aaaaaccccccckk!!!!🤩
I was saddened when I first got into knives about a year ago and discovered the Winterblade Factor... only to find it was out of print.
But, I didn't think you were being fake or malicious, since I was well aware of how boutique collectibles go from my years in the "Third Party" Transformers fandom.
And, despite how much I wanted the Factor at first, now I've come to appreciate that its blade shape is not exactly what I want, even tho I do love the harmonics.
More recently, when the time came that I wanted to get a Vision FG last month, it was widely sold out, but then the Knife Center got a restock, and I managed to snag the green micarta variant, and it arrived three days later for the last day of Hanukkah. ✨
And, even tho the VFG isn't a particularly exclusive release and is continuing to see restocks, there's also Snecx's mini superlock knife in the works for those who can't get a VFG or maybe aren't quite sold on it, tho I feel like this new knife might get a different moniker than Vision, maybe.
Finally, I think this question only really matters when doing some sort of "Best Of" list and the majority of those items are sold out, and/or, even worse, discontinued.
In that case, it might be worth doing a separate list or add an addendum of honorable mentions that viewers can get now or in the near future, tho it can also inform folks of companies or designers whose sites and social media they should follow for their next work.
Oh, and one more thing.... MC FARTED!! 🤣🍑💨
This give me a better understanding of the knife world
It’s funny, I was already starting to type when you said to wait😂. So I did and you pretty much covered everything so, I think you nailed it and I did make it to the end! Your content delivers on many different levels. Sometimes it’s simply hilarious, usually informative, always entertaining and occasionally (with some of the more “interesting” knives) it’s just like watching the ugliest gal left in the bar trying to dance her way into some drunk guys arms. Either way, I always end up watching. Learning about makers and designers, even if just for future projects is extremely helpful. Not to mention there is this thing called the secondary market for which I find your videos incredibly useful. If people really just want to watch commercials there are options out there such as subscribing to the KnifeCenter or Blade HQ channels. Nice to see TKG again. Thanks!
Glad that your doing TKG again!!
Keep doing exactly what you are doing. I personally respect and appreciate all of your content and honesty when it comes to knives. Sure, most of what you review is out of reach for some, but you have the opportunity to let us see new and innovative designs that most don't know exist. All it takes is one review that speaks to what your viewer has been looking for. For them, the juice is worth the squeeze. Good things come to those who wait. Keep up the great work 👍
My use case for watching CZcams knife content is either as research to justify or stop a prospective purchase of something I’m already interested in or to just see a variety of things that exist in the world that I might not have known about. Anyone who has a reasonable perspective and is in the knife (or any other collection community) knows that in order to get anything other than run of the mill, widely available products you have to be patient and hunt around and possibly buy on a secondary market.
That being said, I can completely see the frustration from the community when there are “coordinated” content releases from multiple creators where it floods your social media feed with a cool new product from a boutique maker to drive up interest and the maker (and likely the content creators as well) know full well there’s not enough of product to meet demand.
That’s not necessarily the responsibility of content creators to do things any differently but there should at least be acknowledgement that the dynamic exists and content creators jump right on the bandwagon because a video about a desirable thing drives views to the channel.
Thanks, listening to knife guy was a great way to start my Sunday!
I've never cared if what you are reviewing is available or not. I just enjoy your reviews and learning more about knives that I haven't seen before. I also enjoy your enthusiasm and presentation style. I've only bought like 1 knife based off your reviews so far, the XL CJRB Pyrite. Too many people think content creators such as yourself are beholden unto them. Keep doing what you are doing and how you are doing it and try to ignore the idiots that bitch and complain. Keep up the awesome work MC!
Edit - my only request would be to see your mug in some of the videos, such as this one. It would help to bring a little more personalization to specific content you make, like this talking vid.
Heck yeah, post the uploads. Just because they arent for sale by the manufacturer, but their out there secondary. Plus there is a lot of old farts that like older knives that we like to get in the time machine and reminisce. You've been collecting long enough to fall in this category. And youtube knife channels are basically knife comercials on you opinion of a knife. They're both super valid and worth seeing if youre a user or collector. You gotta pander to all of us, especially because you yourself fit a lot of categories. I think you naild all those points.
Yes, post about it all. The hunt is part of the fun!
I can't afford a Syderco with a compression lock (para 2 or 3) . Still love your channel and your awesome bud 👍.
Super hard to obtain objects are great for content because few people have them.
And to be honest, good custom makers deserve recognition and should be showcased for their work, not hidden just because there are few of them or hard to get.
I'm not looking at your videos as a sales pitch.
I just like to see the different knives.
Show them all!
I'm usually here for the entire video. Just sat here as I sharpen some kitchen knives on my TSPROF Blitz pro.
You should post any content you would like to. And that includes knives that are currently not in stock or, for that matter, even those that are discontinued. You recently did a video about the DLC Padre and as soon as I saw it, I went to Kunwu's website and saw that I missed out. I commented on it, but not in a negative tone, and was immediately "accused" of bitching about it. Just because someone posts they're bummed out about not getting one doesn't mean they're pissed off about it, lol. Some of us don't let not getting a knife that we're never going to use in the first place ruin our day. 🤣
😆❤
I think of knife making as an art in its own right. So I like to see new and old, if I want one I will get one when I can, it’s nice to know what’s out there.
I absolutely agree with you, I would say that you should post anything and everything. Thanks for tkg MC!
It can be a little frustrating, but it's always nice to know what's out there.😅
Of course.
1) It documents the knife's history.
2) Most/many knives are always available to some degree on the aftermarket.
3) I own one of the older knives and would like to learn more about it.
Done. Potatoes.
Potatoes.
I have saved so much money because knives were out of stock
Oh man! I missed this so very much! How glad am I that TKG is back!! ❤❤
Great one MC I think you hit the nail on the head keep it up
Honestly I wouldn't even know half of these knives exist if it weren't for the channel, so keep it coming!
Yes, the knife guy returns. Completely agree. Do it because you love doing it, and you want to tell us your thoughts about each knife
We can't afford most of these knives anyway. They're either too expensive or we just don't have the budget to buy everything we want. But atleast we get to see the cool stuff, it's how we find a lot of the things we do want.
Yeah. Helps to hone our purchases.
I do not look at this as a sales pitch, I look at it as good and well thought out info about knives, many of the knife's you show are out of my price range, but I have bought at least ten knifes on your recommendations, and I am very satisfied with them, like vision fg, microtech msi ram lock, ontario rat 1 and 2, kizer mad tanto and cjrb pyrite among others, and I enjoy your show, so keep it up ty mc
I don’t want to buy all the knives you show on the channel. I want to see them, because I like to see nice knives, whether they are available or not. Keep up the good work. 🙌👏👍
OK, let me come up with my most precise answer: my preference would be that the majority of the stuff you review could be considered as generally available (maybe not at time of the review, but "in production"). Then for me, the "bonus" episodes are crazy custom knives and one-offs that have no relevance to me, except to look at them in your videos. Keep up the good work, God bless 😊
Drinking game: take a sip every time MC says "content." Difficulty: impossible.
Keep showing us interesting stuff
Some people haven’t found the joy of the grail hunt yet
People simply don’t understand! When I first started shopping knives, I thought as they did, and could not understand why you simply couldn’t buy whatever you wanted. It just takes time to learn how this retail community works!.
Thanks for bringing back TKG.
Not sure if thie will help. I live in Canada, some of the companys you show i can not find here. Miguron twosun ect. I can get alot of what you show, but that being said i still enjoy seeing knives i cant get. Herman knives are great example. I would kill for a herman but ill probly never own one. Still very much enjoy seeing the models. I just enjoy seeing and learning about diffeent models and companies. And sometimes i do pick up knives i see in your videos. Ps love this channel 😁
the Sharp by Design is fabulous I love it.
to quickly answer and give you my opinion to a good question. hell yeah!! ive seen the coolest knives on your channel. just because ill probably never purchase a knife that costs over 500.00 well maybe ill buy one, doesnt mean i dont want to see a review on one! i want to see what a 10,000 knife looks like. i want to see every wonderful, amazing, oversized
, undersized, extreme knife down to everyones favorite budget knife. doesnt matter cause knives are cool.. thats all. and to answer your actual question you ask in the video, again, hell yes!!
Absolutely yes. Even if knives are not available. Always interesting to see what was what is and what will be. And what I’ll never afford 😄 find the content interesting either way 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
It’s you channel so do what you want but keep the videos coming cause I keep coming back for information
Name of black knife on the left?
Got it, Herman Dragonfly DLC
I watch almost every video and every review of a knife here in Germany. From my point of view, it makes sense to also review knives that we or you can't currently buy. You will certainly also get some prototypes or improved models. The fact is, knife designers, manufacturers and those who are struggling to design and make a knife themselves can learn from the details mentioned. keep on posting knifes no matter if we can get them or not.
Ah, finally. So glad there's a new episode.
Welcome back Knife Guy, you’ve been missed. Unfortunately, I agree that most of the spaghetti wizards you attempt to get through to switch off to this kind of content early on. The silver lining for me is the spaghetti wizards you have to put up with provide me with a good laugh. I love your rants, vent every week again.
Sorry about this comparison, but many gun channels feature products that are unavailable or that they just don't make anymore. Information is fun when it comes to this subject matter. Plus, I sent one of your videos many times because I'm not good at teaching the reverse flick. You've never come off as a salesman.
Like the MaxAce Capsule lol. I saw it here, found a site that had it, and ordered it. A bit later, sold out lol. 🤷♂️
Ahhh, I feel better. Nothing like a good old fashion MC spaghetti release session.
Most folks wont admit it but I will. Im dumb. I dont know designers, metals, materials or mechanisms. Im a longsword student but I cant carry a sword in my pocket. I can carry a decent knife though. But I have the WORST OCD when it comes to junk tools, cant stand junk. I love the unboxings and breakdowns on use, ergonomics, etc. The toenail or whatever kills me a little but its the novelty of the thing and I appreciate it.
In the case of Kunwu. Kunwu doesn’t even know what Kunwu is going to do. They announced end of last year they were not going to produce anymore of their current lineup anymore and were going to focus on new stuff in 2024. I bought a newly promoted Chad from their site yesterday (it’s 2024 for future readers)
I don’t mind when you show stuff that isn’t available. If it’s amazing and no longer produced, that gives me a challenge to try and hunt for one if I like it enough. If it’s not available YET, it gives me information for a potential future purchase and I like to know about new stuff coming up.
I know you get a ton of knives for free, most people I’ve talked to say that MC won’t give a bad review on a knife because he doesn’t want to stop his flow of free knives (that you mostly give away to subscribers for FREE). But those same people that claim you’re not going to give a bad review obviously aren’t watching your channel. I’ve seen MANY videos where you just tell it like it is. If it’s a bad knife, you show us what’s bad.
Anyway, rant over. Thanks for everything you do. I find your channel to be extremely informative and that’s why your channel was one of the first I started subscribing to when I started collecting knives again. Thanks!
Bro, Show it! I appreciate things even if I can't afford or it's a limited to a certain group and concepts. People go to car shows, I bet most of them can't purchase the Lambo, The Ferrari and The McLaren's and so forth, But still enjoy them. Thanks for reminding me I almost forgot that I was going to thank Scott as always I appreciate that shares. That's the point Sharing what is out there. Been looking for this something for so long (Won't mention) It's barely out of my price range. Meaning I couldn't take it out of one check but two without messing my stuff up. $500 dollars for a knife, A knife that I can't find and when I do. I've spent the money I saved. So I'm use to it, Stuff I can't get anyway.
I think you absolutely should. The only problem is you said about second hand market. I've got burned before and bought a clone of Facebook so now I'm scared to buy another.
Appreciate your videos manits funny cuz I'm wondering if there making more Quiet Carrying The nine
My thoughts: I love knives, and I don’t have (and can’t get) most of them. The limited nature of something makes it that much more beautiful in a sense. Think legendary gear in video games.
There’s always a secondary market, and if you want something bad enough, there might be a way to wait for one to go on sale or wait for another batch to be made.
If Metal Complex didn’t show me I wanted it… I’d never know to wait for it.
I hate to disappoint but I make spaghetti in my pants most days, and it has zero to do with if a knife is available when content is uploaded. Seeing and learning about different knives and makers is the most important for me. If I decide to buy then thats on me not you whether its available.
Yes. I am not that so obsessed with knives that seeing one that I cannot buy anymore will ruin my day...
Disappoint me a little but not all that much (well maybe a bit much) but I wouldn't yell at a channel creator over it.
while I don't have expansive collections like some I do sit around with my phone on me with an alarm set so that I can jump on and order a knive that is an exclusive that might sell out fast.
An an example the recent Saint Nick's 4v Manix 2 lightweight that sold out in less than an hour going by some accounts.
I do know from my observations that it sold out in less than six hours. I actually snuck into a corner somewhere at work to order it on my phone yes.. I was that guy for a few minutes to make sure I got that version.
For me if it’s a knife I can’t get, can’t afford or don’t like the design so I’d never buy I tune out or fast forward to the next knife review. Your channel so do as you’d like, I can adjust my viewing experience.
Love your content! Don’t normally comment, that shit was funny 😂🤣😂
Complex. Absolutely show knives that aren’t available. Then I can go to a website a possibly get on a waiting list or go to secondary mkt. And Complex does post on u-tube when knives that are hard to get drop. I also like the entertainment value of the content and knowing what exist. My thoughts. Thx MC
really like the Brown knife I know nothing about it
If we don't see wild and crazy stuff, we don't have anything to aspire to with our collection.
I need more knife guy, right now! RIGHT NOW!!
…but what if you want ALL?! MUST HAVE ALL OF EVERYTHING!!! Give me now!!! If non left, MAKE ME NEW ONE NOW!!! You have 30 seconds to comply! Must have everything to be the best knife guy!
I am a fan of the Knife Guy Episodes. And my answer to your question is yes I want to watch you and other content creators show knives that your excited about . makes better content.
I appreciate your content. It is informative and entertaining. Folks will watch or not. There are always going to be complainers and hatters. I say if it isn't broke don't fix it. Rock on my friend.
