    Recently visited the UK and France. As an American visiting over there. Christian is absolutely spot on with being aware of your surroundings. I was on a bike tour in London. It was the week before coronation, so it was very busy in London. I decided to take the rear of the pack for my own piece of mind. One of the participants on the tour had a malfunction with the chain on there bike. The rider was a young girl from Switzerland, maybe 13-15 years old. I stopped and stayed with her trying to get the chain back on her bike. It was probably 10 mins before the rest of the group realized we were missing. Her dad was extremely thankful that I stayed with her. Look for opportunities to serve others. Love you all!

      There was a moment where photos were leaked on facebook (allegedly by troopers within the regiment themselves) of them in Iraq, and they accidentally leaked their weapon systems and the fact that they had dogs. Sounds unimportant but back then no information at all was disclosed about UKSF equipment and dog usage etc, so these photos were the first ever to be revealed to the public.
      It happened in 2017 and it's also assumed some were SBS soldiers because it showed a trooper with a commando knife. Not the biggest leak but a leak nonetheless

    • @kooksies5712
      @kooksies5712 Před 4 měsíci

      It's true SEALS are known to write books lol etc. It mostly is true because you can join the SEAL teams straight off civ street, whereas other spec ops may require previous military service before applying. This itself is a filter, not to say joining the SEAL teams is easy.
      But they do deserve a voice, and don't forget there are delta guys on here too (pat mcnamara, tactical hyve instructor, shawn ryan podcast interviewees (at least 3), shrek, that one former delta who got fat but did some tv shows including where he did live fire drills with spetsnaz alphas down range (cant remember name).
      One of the most popular spec ops tv series SEAL Team has a former Ranger/Delta as an advisor and actor (Tyler Gray).

    As a retired NYC police officer who was raised in the South Bronx and lived my entire career in the Bronx, and can relate to Christian, when he says, "Be aware of your surroundings" and any rights that you give up, you'll never get them back. I can't count the times that people told me that they were caught off guard, either behind the counter, walking into the apartment or just walking down the streets. And I also can't count the times people told me that they wished they'd had a gun. But, due to New York Cities anti-gun laws, law abiding citizens are unable to have a firearm. Of course, those laws don't anything to stop criminals from having guns, as criminals don't obey laws. I did 3 years in the Marine Corps, 20 years with the NYC Police Dept., a stint with the NYANG, security at the Plaza hotel in Manhattan, Security at West Point Military Academy, I'm 72 years old and still train and carry.

      @@jamesr792 Not exactly. While the SAS is coined as the first modern SOF unit, it's not exactly a true claim or statement. The first modern special operations unit, was the LRDG. It carried out operations which are known as modern special reconnaissance and direct action mission sets.
      It was a unit under British command, but was primarily New Zealand solders who filled the ranks, and handled the training and new form of doctrine created. The unit was later open to British and Rhodesian soldiers. The SAS was formed after, and learned from the LRDG's mistakes and successes, adapting the special operations doctrine.
      Special operations has been around for 1000s of years. Specialized smaller units have been a concept for 1000s of years.

    These guys have been putting in work since the 1940’s. When you look at how highly skilled the Army SMU (or CAG or Delta Ninjas or whatever the hell they come up with this year) is and than figure their training pipeline and organizational structure is based on UK SAS Selection it shows you how long the UK has recognized the necessity of having such skilled shooters in the “break glass in case of war” box.

    'Once you have rights taken away, you never get them back." It is worth bearing in mind that the Second Amendment Right to bear arms is a borrowed right. It comes from the English Bill of Rights 1688 Article 7: "That the subjects which are Protestants may have arms for their defence suitable to their condition and as allowed by law." It was written so as to prevent another Catholic monarch, and the attendant army, once again mounting the thrown and repressing the country. We had, after all, just removed James II is a peaceful coup. The same James, by the way, after whom New York is named. Before being King, he was the Duke of York.
    Technically, we still have this right. The 1688 Bill of Rights is still law. However, as it is a statute - although of constitutional status - it is subject to subsequent legislation. This includes the various Firearms Acts (the last being in 1968) which followed. In consequence, the right disappeared. This was largely as a consequence of the danger posed by the Fenians (ie the Irish) and by the workers (ie by the 1917 Russian Revolution). As it happens, these fears were largely (we think) unfounded.
    However, none of this undermines the point made by Christian. After all, in Victorian/Edwardian England, a man was free to go wherever he wished, no passport required, and carry what he liked on his person.
    Sadly, the politicians have made a free world into an open prison.
    Please do not follow our example.

    Just to correct something, here in the UK you can own guns. You just cant carry for PP. The only exception is Northern Ireland who do have CCW thus you can carry for PP. The gun laws here are not as strict as many think, once you have a licence. Over 100,000 people in the UK have a Firearms licence(FAC) and about 4 times that have Shotgun licence (SGC). The main restriction is you cant own centrefire semi auto rifles or pistols easily. You can however own ba rifles, straight pull rifles, shot guns (any type), lever action, semi auto rim fire, some revolvers, black powder pistols and rifles. We have no restrictions on stocks, magazines, suppressors etc. (although the latter are controlled) There is no waiting period. Private sales are permitted. A nice bonus is our min barrel length is 12". Min OAL 24". So possible to have some really nice short rifles. If you really want to own a 1911 or similar it is still possible but the legislation makes it pretty pointless due to the storage and usage restrictions. (section 7 firearm)
