You missed the point about superheros...when you can relate to them, they are merely a peer, but when you can't, you have something to aspire to. And though it's true we want character to relate to, and so long as the hero ends up on top, that is inspiration for what we can accomplish within reasonable means, but we also need characters to aspire to, something to take us far and behind. I feel Superman is a great character for demonstrating this ideal, and serves great as a role model for little boys and girls.
I mean, I'd rather my little girl go out with Superman than Batman. I'd look at Batman as someone who just wants to bang her.

Literally, there would be an attack on New York by aliens, then two of the avengers chase the aliens away. That's all that would be public knowledge. Things like what is happening in Wakanda, what happened in Germany (I think it was Germany?), what happened to the Guardians, what happened to Thor, what happened to Dr. Strange, etc wouldn't be public knowledge.
